Not in Uk anymore

TRT is for life, anything else is just a cycle.

Small doses as frequently as possible seems to be the way forward these days rather than weekly or bi weekly jabs.

BUT everyone is different and what works for one person won't necessarily work for you.

I know ppl who do just fine on once a week, ppl who do daily.

Intra muscular or sub jabs are another personal thing, so try it all and see what best for you.

It takes 3-6 months to get your dosage right and dialed in properly.

Good luck 🤞

Been on generous trt 13 years now 1ml rest e a week

Honestly I’ve never bothered with multiple injections a week I jab once a week and have even done every 2 when between suppliers and been absolutely fine if it was test prop or sustanon fair enough but with e or c I personally wouldn’t bother maybe if doing sub Q I can barely inject in my right quad now due to scar tissue and that just off once a week never mind 3x just my thoughts mate

Yep been on cyp or enth for about two years now about 200-250 a week. I only inject once a week, haven’t noticed any difference from bi weekly

Ive just started TRT (3rd week). I had ge really malaise, slught brain fog, needing a nap in the day, libido ok but could be better, less motivation going to the gym than in previous years.

A friend of mine who's been on it for a while suggested a blood test. I went with Voy. Home fingerprint test showed low total and free testosterone and low red blood cell count.

Enhanced test confirmed this. All other markers (around 38) were all good.

Had an online consultation then started treatment.

I inject 0.2ml of 200mg testosterone cypionate subcutaneously (it doesn't hurt).

It takes a while to notice a difference but I'm now feeling my energy is better, my libido is definitely increasing (warning ladies! ) and generally feeling better and sharper.

The dose is quite low (80mg pw), but I'll have bloods done at month 3 and see where I am with my levels and go from there.

I'm looking forward to the longer term results (Better gym Performance and loss of belly fat), and increased energy levels.

It's not cheap though. I pay £129 pm but this covers everything( kit, bloods, consultations etc).

Hope that helps!

...and that's for the basic package. You can add extras (too boring to explain what) that will significantly increase the price.

My mate who suggested it went the same route but now gets his testosterone from "other sources", let's say, but pays to have his bloods analysed every 6 months. I might go that route once I know where my levels are and I know everything is in order.

BTW testosterone online only costs around £40 a bottle, and thatll last for months! It's just a case of not getting ripped off by them taking your money and not delivering, or giving you something that's dodgy.

Yeah I get what you’re saying. It’s about £180 I think for a full test from medi labs plus either go to a clinic £40 or find a nurse to take your bloods.

Worth noting I’ve had issues with the kits from medilabs not having a vacuum in them so the kit and time with nurse was wasted.

Would like to know more about Othere source.

I had blood done with Manual think it was about £50 finger prick, then £90 for a nurse to cone to the house. All proved low testosterone. But treatment is to experience.

I have a testosterone injection every 10 weeks direct into my hip and will be for the rest of my life.

My sexdrive doesn't suffer but towards the end of the injections cycle I get symptoms akin to menopause as my hormones are not regulating .

If anyone has any questions about the symptoms etc please don't hesitate to message me

Private clinics would class it as low - most private clinics will consider levels up to 15 for treatment. The NHS usually only considers treatment when levels are less than 8.

Which is right, men forget or maybe never knew high levels of testosterone can cause huge problems in older age many cases causing severe health issues from heart attacks to strokes hair loss, insomnia, fatigue, high blood pressure and cholesterol problems, you just have to look at the amount of Body builders who have had massive heart attacks and major strokes . Low testosterone starts to drop mid 30s Causing libido problems, erectile dysfunction fatigue which is horrendous.

My own TRT 30 years plus was brought on by Testicular Cancer where I lost both testicles my testosterone levels rarely are above 13 I’ve seen them as low as 3 which brings on severe Bradycardia (very low pulse in the 20s bpm) and Tachycardia problems very high pulse 250 bpm . I have a endocrinologist that works with me I have blood tests every 12 weeks which is a new blood cell that give a full coverage of how the levels are, the levels also fluctuate greatly due to physical activity and work .

When you have working testicles even with low testosterone output you will never reach extremely low levels as I do on the occasion as you still have some testosterone function .

My husband jabs. He feels like his physical age now matches his mental age. Mid 20's haha

The change in him after a month was significant. After 12 weeks it peaks and doesnt go higher.

He doesnt need afternoon naps anymore. Has energy to keep busy all day. Stronger than he has been for years and has a much better body than he ever has. At 46 for the first time in his life he is happy to have his top off in the sun no matter where he is.

His mental wellbeing is better. He is a glass half full guy instead of a glass half empty guy now.

If i could change one thing. The morning horn. I am not a morning girl. He is like a dog with 2 dicks.

Most online clinics require you to inject yourself. But if injections aren’t for you, you could consider testosterone cream (not gel) that can be very effective.

There’s lots of online clinics you can contact, treatment is generally £100-£200 a month depending on their costs. You would likely need an extra blood test done before starting treatment as NHS bloods don’t usually check all the markers private clinics need, plus a consultation with their doctor. I work in this sector so happy to help with any questions.

I have been on TRT testosterone replacement for 8 years now, with repeat prescriptions from NHS

initially for Testogel (first 3 years)

And transferred to 8 weekly - Nebido 1000 mg/4 ml injection

My Bloods are:

PSA 2.6 - normal

Hematocrit - 0.48 - normal

SHBG = 56.3nmol/L

Albumin 46g/L

Total testosterone 26.7 nmol/L

Free testosterone 0.414 nmol/L

Bioavailable testosterone 10.4 nmol/L

Last DEXA scan shows Bone Density has increased by 12.8%

Obviously those of us on TRT testosterone replacement for life become experts in knowledge and understanding of TRT

If you are starting TRT, ensure that you have initially had an appointment with a private Consultant Urological Surgeon, ideally a honorary clinical senior lecturer who can give you independent advice regardless of whether you go down NHS or private clinic route

If you have read, and understood my above post, here is some basic info of what I experienced before starting on TRT testosterone replacement right upto now.

.

TRT testosterone replacement:

I was tested and shown to be 9nmol/L, my doctor said this was within normal range, I then fractured my ankle and was seen by a specialist, I mentioned my low testosterone to him and he suspected I also had Low Bone Density.

He carried out further tests and confirmed I was Low on Testosterone and Low Bone Density was the cause of my ankle fracture.

His report was sent to my GP and I am now on TRT (Testosterone Replacement for life via NHS.

NOTE; This is a nhs treatment;

I have been on Testosterone Replacement for over 8 years now, first 3 years on Testogel and once dosage was fixed out things worked well, I was on two sachets a day which are rubbed into your shoulders.

I changed over to testosterone undecanoate (Nebido®) 1000mg /4ML injection every 8 weeks and this works just as well.

I average 25 - 28 nmol/L although peak is slightly higher and Trough slightly lower.

My daily morning erections have returned and can achieve an erection as and when required, often when not required too.

.

So why was I placed on TRT, Testosterone Replacement

I suffered Erectile Dysfunction for a year, maybe more, I was unable to achieve or maintain erections and I also had an effeminate shaped body

my other symptoms included;

• fatigue

• lethargy

• depression

• anxiety

• irritability

• low libido

• erectile dysfunction

• reduced exercise tolerance and strength

• excessive sweating and night sweats

• poor concentration or memory

• needing to shave less often (my legs, arms and face were smooth only needed to shave once a week or less.

My doctor and specialist eventually discovered this was due to Low Testosterone and I am now on Testosterone replacement for life.

My overall well being has increased rapidly, my fitness, strength and im even getting considerable noticeable muscles

My Erections have also returned big time, powerful strong rock solid erections every morning and as and when performance is required, often unexpected moments too such as standing in a Tesco check out queue (embarrassing)

Feel free to ask me anything regarding TRT and I will try and give a direct answer of my experience.

.

.

Gels or injections??

.

With Gels, your Testosterone drops off daily

The Gel is rubbed into skin around 8am and your body has "Peak" Testosterone, within an hour this is dropping off which is simillar to a normal healthy man.

by night time your levels will be mid teens.

Anyone starting on TRT, normally starts on one sachet of Gel, or two pumps if using a pump applicator.

your testosterone levels are tested over the month to determine if your level needs increasing.

I started on 1 sachet, then increased to 1.5 sachets per day and eventually settled out at 2 sachets per day which gave me my correct body testosterone.

.

Whey I changed over to injections,

I was on 12 weekly injections and my testosterone in blood was tested at week 10.

This proved to be LOW, so my testosterone injections were reduced to an injection every 10 weeks and my blood was tested at week 8.

At week 8, my testosterone was Low, so I was put on an injection every 8 weeks and blood tested at week 6.

Week 6 proved to be satisfactory with my bloods, so I am now on a Testosterone injection every 8 weeks.

Please note, it is not only your testosterone that is tested, you have all bloods tested for such as psa monitoring etc.

Little update on my post: my Voy results were 10.6 for total testosterone (they say should be 15 - 25.7), free testosterone was 0.172 (0.3 - 0.8). Had NHS bloods done last week. Results are TT 11.2 (6.11 - 25.7). They don't test free testosterone but androgen ratio, which you can calculate free testosterone from, and my free was exactly the same result as Voy (0.172). Moral of the story is, the NHS definition of low is significantly lower than private, so its unlikely the NHS will provide treatment.

You might say the NHS knows best, but.the "normal" range according to them is based on mean average of men tested. However, for whatever reason, mens' testosterone in the general population had dropped significantly older the last 30 years. Voy (and others) attempt to bring you to the upper quarter of OPTIMAL levels rather than "normal". Early days for me (3 weeks), but i am definitely beginning to notice improvements in mental clarity, libido, motivation and tiredness levels

Early days for me (3 weeks), but i am definitely beginning to notice improvements in mental clarity, libido, motivation and tiredness levels "

Or are the private company's saying you low so you signed up to a treatment plan costing £150/month, £1800/year for the rest of your life.

Where the NHS just could not fund to put all older men on TRT.

Spot on, many private companies simply want the cash flow regardless of the person's health

Patient beware!!!!

"Why did you change from gels to injection,I'm just waiting for my final appointment before I get prescribed trt and wondering which you feel the best . "

Both Testogel and injection work well as long as they are set up correctly

With injection on NHS

The injection is every 12 weeks, BUT when first starting you get your first injection then a further boost at 6 weeks, this kicks the cycle into gear and it's 12 week intervals after that.

This may be reduced to 10 week intervals or 8 week intervals depending on your blood results but no less than 8 weeks apart.

Testogel works more like your bodies normal testosterone cycle

You put it on first thing in morning by rubbing the sachet into your shoulders and your skin absorbs it giving you high morning testosterone just like your body

This lowers during the day making you ready for your next morning application when you get up next morning.

NHS start you on 1 sachet of Testogel, test your bloods, increasing to 1.5 sachets or 2 sachets.

People say gels don't work but they had me on a steady 24 - 28 nmol/L per day, plus you can increase if you know your going to need an extra boost on a certain day

Bang on, if you go to the doctors with depression (side effect of low test) they’ll happily chuck you packet after packet of anti depressants and ignore any question about test levels.

All because mental health has become the new norm, people are quite happy the get a wee badge from there Doctor with a wee group of letters after it , it further strengthens there world .

But when it’s predisposed from another health issue ie lack of Libido or a problem with ED which is causing the depression walking out of your Doctors surgery with anti depressants medication is crazy, where you should be asking your GP for a full blood count (FBC) plus testosterone markers to see if that is the problem or is it something different .

My bloods are done a minimum of 4 times per year my testosterone markers average around 11 to 13 works well for me, that’s on 40ml of Testogel which is the only thing I’ve not had any problems with . I’ve spent the last 30 plus years on TRT due to cancer it’s only taken 25 or so of those years to get something that actually works well without and side effects .

Just wanted to say that some people’s experience of getting TRT via the NHS can be very different to others, depending on the understanding nature, knowledge and willingness to help of their GP.

It’s absolutely great if someone can get testing and TRT via the NHS (and feel well on treatment). I would fully support someone trying to get their T levels checked with their GP first.

But (and it’s a big BUT)… many GP’s won’t even have a conversation about testosterone or agree to test it, let alone offer any treatment. The NHS reference range is also totally outdated and is based on an average across the male population from age 18-99+. It doesn’t factor where levels SHOULD be for otherwise healthy men in their 30’s/40’s/50’s, who may already be doing everything they can to maximise their testosterone levels naturally (such as good diet, regular exercise, sufficient sleep, managing stress).

Private clinics do have a more generous treatable range and can generally consider treatment when T levels are 15nmol/L or below. This would be comparable with with other private health options, such as the BMI treatable range when prescribing weight loss meds. However, the decision to provide or start TRT treatment should never just be based on the testosterone number alone - comprehensive bloods, symptoms, lifestyle and medical history should also be considered.

No one is pushing anyone to explore or start private TRT but it’s an option for men who are struggling. For thousands of men who are experiencing debilitating symptoms, TRT can be a life changing treatment option. Over the years, I have spoken with hundreds of men who have been given ant-depressants or are told by their GP they can’t have low testosterone because they have a beard! It’s absolutely disgraceful, especially when you consider that middle aged men are at highest risk of suicide.

The HIDDEN DANGER of Low Testosterone.

Low testosterone in both men and women leads to Osteoporosis, although it's mostly low estrogen in women.

.

How Low Testosterone Affects Bones

Reduced bone formation:

Low hormone levels slow down the activity of bone-building cells (osteoblasts).

Increased bone breakdown:

The natural balance shifts, allowing bone-resorbing cells to outpace formation.

Lower estrogen conversion:

Reduced testosterone means less estrogen is produced locally in male tissues, accelerating bone loss

Osteoporosis is often named the hidden killer.

Its basically down to every single individual to look after and control your own health.

NHS / GP's / Private clinics see you for 5 or 10 minutes, write up your notes and then onto the next patient

It is upto "YOURSELVES" to educate yourself on your own health and decide your own path.

Regardless of NHS or Private, you make your own decisions and to do this, you must educate yourself on whatever illness you have.

What happens if your GP moves onto another surgery?

What happens if your Private Clinic goes Bust?

If your on either of them it'll only need to be once weekly, could get away with fortnightly. Dont see the need to inject long esters that often. Prop or Ace then aye. Saves you a daily pain in the arse.

If you are running TRT then roughly 150mg a week.

Or if you are going to the gym 300mg a week..

The main reason is probably down to cash incentives that GPs get for "pushing" certain medications. For instance weight loss drugs, statins etc. They don't get any for TRT, if they did they'd be pushing them onto you.

Hi I saw your post and know it is directed at men, and wow you have received so many replies. I imagine it's all confusing and a lot to take in.

I have endo stuff and a good endo and am F. I won't share details.

But I would go with what your endo says and instruct your GP to prescribe.

Implants are good, but not sure what your NHS trust provides and many are being stopped due to no supply at moment. Gel - can cause skin irritation. Injection - would go through endo and NHS.

Hormones are a 'fucker' no pun intended and endos are great at what they do. Goes way over my head LOL.

Hope all goes okay for you.

Ps: hormone replacement of testosterone is great, as fatigue and sex drive do come back LOL

"Ive just started TRT (3rd week).

Hope that helps!"

Thanks I’m in a similar position had my enhanced test yesterday so waiting results. My concern is the treatment. I have a massive phobia of needles so want to go down the tablet route. Fingers crossed it works out ok…..

A lot of people miss diagnose there selfs regarding testosterone hormones lol , so point blank , if you sleep is crap then your hormones suffer , if you don’t get enuf fats from foods your hormones again suffer if you don’t drink enuf fluids electrolytes your nitric oxide blood flow suffers and you have erection issues , if your cortisol is high / stress you will not get erections or maintain at all and you will feel shitty ,

So try something for a week first

Sleep , drink enuf fluids / not booze, eat meat animal fats eggs steaks beef mince

Use 5000iu vitamin d3 with k2 daily

B complex

Get some electrolytes

And if your struggling with sleep magnesium and use ashwaganda at night ,

Ladies message me for a picture and you’ll understand how I no all of this lol xxx

Also spanner in the works here , SUB Q injections micro dosing testosterone isn’t good for sexual function it will display better numbers on blood tests paper etc but won’t necessarily feel better and 9 times out of 10 clinics will try get you to use other products from them to mask the side effects of estrogen / prolactin and before you no it your taking test from them proviron arimidex nolvadex chlomid or enchlomephene ,

Loose body fat get your diet and drink in check some vitamins and you will be fine message me if need any info happy to chat

Have a rare condition which means my body can't produce testerone. Started treatment in teens and was then told to come off it which was a mistake.

Being back on 14 week injections since the early 2000s. Still don't understand the physical and mental impact and can't discuss easily as drs only want to talk physical and psychologists don't understand the condition.

No idea what affect it had on my libido, sexual desire, sexual leanings apart from the physical of not having noticeable balls.

The tablets offered at Voy are clomid and are not TRT. Clomid can help to give a slight boost to natural testosterone production and can also help to support fertility but some men do not get on with them. You may want to consider testosterone cream instead.

Been on NHS Dr prescribed TRT for 25 years

Don't guess

Get you blood work done before and regularly during

Look at all markers especially free test and estradiol for balance

Keep hydrated and watch haematocrit.

To say test enth or cyp EOD but not mention mg/ml is a schoolboy error

You need to know what mg/ml it is

True TRT is around 100mg per week

I am taking test enth at 300mg/ml .1 ml (30mg) EOD

Any questions DM me

Interestingly, Private Equity and Venture Capitalists are piling into pushing TRT because it’s hugely profitable. They then pay influencers to push the test because it’s illegal to push the prescription only drugs. I would rather put my trust in NHS endocrinologists than these guys. Some of the things they claim for it seem extremely dubious. Poor sleep is something that comes with getting older. If you sleep poorly you get tired. If your sleep is broken you probably don’t wake up with a raging hardon. It doesn’t mean you have ED. There are a million and one supplements you can get for tiredness, brain fog and all the the other hard to quantify things that come with age for some. I am guessing most if not all don’t work. . Search for the Guardian articles on TRT. They make interesting reading.

The NHS is absolutely crap when it comes to treating TRT issues. A lot of trust don't even offer it, there blood testing regime is a joke in terms of how long it takes to get a test and then to get the results (it's the main reason our country's cancer survival rates are so low, poor blood testing!).

I go private because I get treated better and better test results which I get sent to me and not my gp and have the hassle of trying to get my results! It's expensive but it suits me, just wish the NHS could be as professional as the private companies!

If your results were sent to both you, and your GP, then maybe your GP would have a better understanding.

GP's often refer patients to experts

I go private because I get treated better and better test results which I get sent to me and not my gp and have the hassle of trying to get my results! It's expensive but it suits me, just wish the NHS could be as professional as the private companies! "

Thot is not my experience of the NHS. I have never had a blood test for testosterone but I have had blood tests looking at a broad range of things in the last two years ordered by my GP to investigate what turned out to be a chest infection. The results came back within a few days and were available on the NHS app to view.
