Ermm excuse me but every single news is reporting upto 12 weeks..

12 weeks = 3 months = june.

They are coming upto 4 weeks now and no sign of any relaxed measures.

Well heres is some facts for you from the goverment.

"It will get worse before it gets better"

"The peak of this could be around may/june"

So if they are saying things like that its a bit of a clue to assume that the lock down isnt goung to end before that time.

Well Sophie ridge just asked micheal gove just this second on sky news "when are we expecting to see the end of the lock down, I'm hearimg sometime in june"

He responds " theres no definite answer, we resoind each day to new data, new numbers and it depends on if we all do our part, it will get worse before it gets better".

So no defining answer but he didnt dismiss june.

"I don't care, how long as long as people safe

On that note about saving lives.

Would you accept a 3 month lock down every winter flu season?

Flu season happens every year and infects millioms and kills hundreds of tbousands every season

Deaths which would and could be prevented if we had lock downs in place so we wasnt out there spreading our flu germs.

Why are we destroying a multi trillion global economy to save lives which is a smaller number than lives lost to other preventable things like flu.

If one life saved by lock down during this outbreak is worth it then surely the same needs to apply to us spreading our colds/flus and need lock downs every winter to "save lifes".

Reason im saying all this is because i find it all a bit strange and somthing is niggling at me that somthing bigger is going on.

Ive no idea what it is, ive seen and read many conspiracy theorys from New world order globle reset, illumati, the gorgia guidestones (the 10 commandments of which number 1 is bring the worlds population under 500 million in balance with nature).

5G, over 1500 top CEOS from various places like google and the bill gates institution all resigning from there posistions before all this started, and on and on as there is many out there.

Now i dont know what the true nature of all this is but somthing definitely feels a bit off about all of this.

The numbers dont add up to the actions in place.

Weve never had a world wide lock down for any other pandemic.

"Is money more important then lives"

Clearly it is as hundreds of thousands could potential be saved every flu season if we had a lock down to stop the spread of that.

People that colds or early flu like symptoms and are expected to go into work and carry on as normal.

If lives was important to tbe higher ups we would have socisl distancing or lock downs 3 months of every year.

So why now? Yes yes i know "its not the flu, stop comparing it to flu" etc etc but a life is a life do why dont we prevent the deaths of many many thousands...numbers which far out number the numbers that covid is killing.

Can anyome understand what im saying? If you think about it a bit.

Doesnt it not feel all a bit odd?

The government will keep us in lockdown for as long as required. But one thing is for certain....

If people keep breaking the lockdown rules and dont stay at home, the longer the lockdown will be and the more severe the penalties will get if caught breaking the rules.

This is what I believe too, it's going to be a very long haul especially for the older ones

I think the strategy is to lift and clamp down over a longer period to try and create a series of manageable waves of cases that the NHS can manage over time rather than a lockdown release all and another overwhelming surge. If that's the case we'll be in this boat for a long time or until they either get a vaccine or everybody is either immune or dead

I get what you are saying and perhaps they will consider it but after this one depending on how long and how bad it gets I very much doubt it..

The advice during normal seasonal flu is to stay home and rest in any case so that itself is sufficient for the individual infected..

The difference I think is with this one no one knows when someone is carrying it and spreading..

I don't recall the seasonal flu being as contagious though I could be wrong..

The numbers dont add up to the actions in place.

Weve never had a world wide lock down for any other pandemic. "

The reason is to save lives through not overwhelming the NHS with admissions.

The fact that it is a new virus means it spreads quicker and people have no immunity to it meaning more people can become ill but at the same time. We do not have enough beds in the country to look at after the numbers that can potentially be sick at the same time. If the estimated 20% who may get severe symptoms arrive in the hospital all within a short time people will die that’s why you being asked to do why you are being asked. It is not about comparing it to the flu deaths over a year.

This is why 10000 extra beds have been made in London at the excel, in Birmingham at the next and in Manchester as well as the extra beds being implemented in all hospitals.

And social distancing in pandemics has has happened before. America in the Spanish flu had states in lockdown and numbers were dramatically reduced. England did a similar thing with the plague.

Social distancing and lockdowns are not a new thing. It’s proven to save lives by preventing admissions all at once.

I know buddy

People are dying which shouldnt.

What i am trying to say is but making a tits up of it as im not the best at getting my thoughts out in words.

Lets me try it another way.

If i asked on here

"Why is there a lock down and desimating the world economy".

The response will be a overwelming "to save lives and prevent the spread" or somthing similar to that.

So following that response if i asked "shpuldnt we do this every year during the flu seasons to also save lives and prevent the spread of that, as we get colds and early flu like symptoms but expected to carry on working with employers sayimg oh its just a cough or the sniffles. So we go in work, or the pub, or go the match on the weekend, we cough, we sneeze, we touch are faces, we touch hand rails, each other....basically we carry on and whilst carrying on we spread are colds and early flu like symptons onto others which then spreads like crazy hence why every flu season the numbers are between 30-50 million cases of flu and 500,000+ deaths.

All of which could be prevented if we had the same lock down and social distancing rules (or high percentage of that number)."

So when we are saying its to save lives with this lock down yet we've never done anything like this to save lives which could be prevented each year.

I think to myself is there somthing bigger at play here, as whats happening feels off.

They are just thoughts im sharing.

Im not putting money over lifes or anything like that.

I think people will start getting twitchy after 4-6 weeks. Especially if the weather gets better around Europe.

Society is often on a knife edge and it would only take certain elements in any country to kick off some unrest.

Things will evolve quickly and I think it's important for us to have some sort of finish line in sight (I know this is difficult)

No but the OP asked how long we think the lockdown will last.

I wouldn’t be surprised if lockdown isn’t until end of June and more restrictions to come. Even when lifted, expecting restrictions still to get in place - large social groups not allowed etc.

We’ve been warned school unlikely to reopen until September

I’m a maths geek so I always put everything into numbers.

150,000 people die a day world wide

100,000 people die a day from age related issues!

So in the grand scale of things ( it maybe not want people want to hear, but it’s a fact ) 30,923 is a drop in the ocean for a 4 month time frame.

So the USA have did a financial package worth 2.2T, Spain did 300B, France did 300B

None of the numbers make sense. World wide there is 500,000 deaths due to Flu related issues.

So the only thing that makes sense is we don’t have a clue what’s going on. None of us do.

But one thing has to be correct, there is way more to this then just a virus. We are not been told what is going on.

So making up dates on when this will be over is pointless. As it’s not just a virus. It’s much more than just what we’re being told

"I’m a maths geek so I always put everything into numbers.

We're preparing for four months of lockdown. Always thought this to be a realistic timeframe with six months at the back of the mind.

Stockport

1. The lockdown, and subsequent limitations on social interactions, is going to continue for longer than you think.

2. It is just a virus. But it is one that human beings have never been exposed to before, it spreads faster than anything else which has circulated before, and there is no treatment other than keeping the body alive and hoping it's immune system can work its magic faster than the virus is replicated within its cells.

3. All experts, and every government which listens to its experts, are shit scared because although a high proportion of people do recover on their own, there are a very significant number who die unless they receive intensive hospital care. This number is enough to overwhelm the medical resources of any nation because, with the nature of an exponential spread through a population with no resistance, THEY WILL ALL BE SICK AT THE SAME TIME.

4. Without strict measures to slow and control the spread, the projected death toll is AT LEAST TEN PERCENT OF THE GLOBAL POPULATION. This will not happen with the deaths spread throughout the year, but ALL WITHIN A SMALL NUMBER OF WEEKS. Which will overwhelm all our normal mechanisms for disposing of dead bodies.

5. All sensible governments are now throwing shit loads of money at the problem, as they recognise that no population recovers easily, socially or economically, from the experience of EVERY SINGLE PERSON HAVING LOST LOVED ONES because of something that in retrospect everyone will see was easily preventable.

"I don't care, how long as long as people safe

If it's, 6 months and saves lives then fine

Most people are doing the right thing staying home social distancing but if this goes on for extended period that will change people will not put up with being locked in their home for long. Italy are already hearing complaints from people, there will be unrest if things go on too long.

Also someone said in an earlier post ya money more important than lives unfortunately in the modern world we need money to survive. The economy can’t cope with really long period of most of the population living on some kind of government help

I'm guessing that the government will add fairly short periods incrementally, so that it may keep spirits up. This is still new, so data and evidence is still limited too. I'd do the same.

How long is a piece of string?

No one can put a date on when lock down ends or when we can get back to normal. One thing that is certain is that until we all accept the current situation and obey the guidelines the longer we will be in this crisis.... So as long as those still taking no notice like those today still milling about in Hyde Park and the like it will be much longer rather than sooner. Bring in total lock down and Stop mucking about.

Couple of points

The lock down isn't about saving one life, it's about being able to manage the proliferation of C19.

England influenza deaths are around 350 annually, C19 has accounted for over 1000 in two weeks and placed unprecedented demand on health services.

No, 12 weeks seems to be the most popular estimate currently. In the news it's saying that by Easter we should know the effectiveness of this policy much better.

September/October is about six months away so maybe that is where people are getting mixed up?

Here's the article:

Indeed so. Huge, I am not sure. Do not forget many will be essential workers.

We also need to keep as much of the economy going as poss, people earn money any pay tax. The economy will be here and needed long after the this poxy little virus has been confined to history.

Remember we did actually recover from the First and Second World Wars, also other catastrophes back in history...
