At the risk of sounding like a miserable old bastard (what's new?), does anyone else not really enjoy Christmas?

I can't be the only grinch can I?

Sounds like bliss!

Obviously it's great for kids and that's cool but the pressure to engage in some sort of orgy of consumption (and not in a good way) seems to grow yearly.

Plus I hate wrapping presents!

I've gone off it as its incredibly stressful. Its all about what presents to buy and the costs. I've not felt any Xmas spirit like I should. Hope it changes by next week x

I wouldn't say I hate it but it's not the same without children at home. I tend to work straight through & working Christmas day is always interesting. I then choose when to dip in with family & we all usually gather at mine post Christmas for a non Christmas theme catch up, 13 adults & 19 children & that's my fun part. Bloody hate New Year

Worse time of the year for me sadly.

I like the idea of a mid winter holiday where I'm fortunate enough to be able to forget about work for a few days, eat and drink a little more than I should and let the old grey matter have some downtime. But, the whole religious connotation, whatever religion that might be, is lost on me as I'm thoroughly agnostic. It's the commercialisation of Christmas though that completely does my nut in.....but many businesses need it to survive so I dutifully get my wallet out like everyone else. The winter solstice has passed and I'm looking forward to the summer and the warm sea, I hope it comes early again next year.

i got devorced when my kids were 3 and 6 so spent the next 10 or so years not being able to relax and enjoy christmas. i spent most of the day driving and not being able to have a drink I then had to come home to an empty house.

i cannot get into christmas since .

also people don't enjoy christmas like they did its all about buying shit nobody wants and joining the masses shopping on boxing day for even more feckin shopping . merry shopping time evryone!

I dont really enjoy Christmas I believe its all blown out of proportion! Where people go crazy for one day and struggle for afew weeks to catch up. But i bet itvis nice when you have kids, and they bring certain magic to it. I will be spending it on my own this year tho, no Christmas dinner just what ever i have in the kitchen will do

Get yourself a meet up I've had some lovely Christmas/New Years day meets on Fab, it's one of the few times in the year you can almost guarantee you're meeting a genuine single too X

Same here. I'm not overly joyed at the thought of it, unnecessary stress and pressure is added to such a small amount of time, you are expected to be nice to those you hate for the rest of the year and people get into so much financial struggle it's ridiculous.

Christmas lost its magic for me and my late wife when we asked the kids, then 10 and 8, to go to bed early otherwise Santa wouldn't call with their presents.

So, rather reluctantly, off they went to bed, once on the stairs, one said to the other, come on, let's go to bed as Mom still believes in Santa.

The magic of Christmas ended that year...

I'm not a fan of Christmas knowing the 1s you loved the most (Grandparents) are no longer here

Xmas is definitely for kids. I like ensuring my daughter enjoys it, but for me it's just time off to train or go out on the motorbike or even hit the pub.

What does annoy me is the Xmas songs. Every fecking year

I’m having a quiet one this year - kids will be at their mum’s until Xmas Day evening, so I’ll be chilling out at home and enjoying some much needed peace and quiet before the chaos ensues!

Would be amazing if I could arrange a meet for Christmas Eve / morning tho - but I won’t get my hopes up Lol

Christmas is good if given a week or so to enjoy it. Far to many people only getting a couple off days off

We have got a lovely joint of beef for Christmas dinner.. we had a vote and turkey didn't get a single vote, must say we prefer chicken to Turkey.
