I thought I’d open up a quiet corner of fab, somewhere to relax and discuss books.
Have you read anything new recently? Are you re-reading a favourite? Or do you have something you’re interested in but aren’t sure about?

Ooh that sounds quite interesting. Does he suggest any potential new evidence or other key information that leads him to his theory? I’m fascinated with crime and justice books. I’ve recently read a book by Jon Robins called Guilty until Proven Innocent. It is a fascinating collection of miscarriages of justice in the Uk, how they happened and the ending result for some of the victims. |

He believes he took samples of DNA from blood and seminal fluid from a shawl lifted from one of the victims and analysed it with new analysing techniques, cross referenced by ancestors of the victim and the man he believes to be JTR....he also claims Scotland Yard knew who JTR was all along...

This month I’ve read The Familiars by Stacey Halls and When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill. Would highly recommend both.

Anthony Horowitz is very good. I started with his Alex Rider novels in my early years. I have his 2 Sherlock novels on my list waiting to be read. |

Val McDermid is a very good writer. The Karen Pirie books were interesting. "
I really like the Tony Hill ones... Mermaid Singing and Wire in the Blood were especially good.  |

I thoroughly enjoy true crime, especially with alternative perspectives from those within the justice system. The Secret Barrister is very good for this, his analysis on how he sees cases is very interesting. |

I'm reading The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn. It's very beautifully written, I'm enjoying it immensely. |

I've just finished the mad ship by Robin Hobb. Special ships are made out of the cocoons of emerging dragons before they hatch/emerge imbuing the ship with life and personality.

I enjoy fantasy scripts. The authors usually have a fantastic world built with well thought out lore. |

Very good, easy to read, fast paced and a very good story arc throughout about 4 different mini series…need to be read in order though |

I've not long finished Murtagh by Christopher Paolini - next one in the Eragon/ Inheritance Cycle series. It's been a long time coming, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover it existed. I liked the direction of the story, and he's left it open for more books too.
Oh and Julia (1984) - very much enjoyed that too, although "enjoyed" is a funny word for that book, as it's pretty grim! |

That sounds great. I enjoy novels that have an order, I feel they’re easier to follow if there’s at least a loose link between the books and characters involved. |

Each mini series is like a season on a tv show…so they are all chronological. There are also two spin offs. Jack Campbell is a very good sci-fi author |

If you want a stand alone - A Place of Execution is a stormer abd my favourite book ever. |
