Does being polite to others help you get on in life?

Does a simple please and thank you go a long way?

Or is it just a waste of time?

In the interests of scientific study I thought I’d put it to the test!

So, can you send boobies to my inbox PLEASE?

Thank you!

Somewhere In The Ether…

I always put ‘Please’ in brackets after I send the obligatory ‘FAF?’ message; it’s only common decency after all.

It doesn't hurt and you can only control how you act. How people react to it is on them.

Yes, I try to always be really polite, especially out and about and to people who are working. Doesn't cost anything and often makes them smile. I think people often feel very under appreciated.

Being polite and kind doesn't cost anything.

Doesn't mean you can't have boundaries with toxic tosspots ... just uou enforce them politely.

We’d like to think it works. But the world and cultures within it can seem strange to others

It's true that politeness costs nothing.

It's just a pity that rudeness also costs nothing.

I'm polite, and wouldn't bother engaging with anyone that isn't. That's male or female, gender wouldn't make any difference to me on that matter.

To paraphrase:

“Manners Maketh Man”. I find being polite and having manners has gotten me quite far. And really takes the wind out of aggressive people.

Dear Daniel OP.

Thank you for your polite request for boobie pictures but but I very politely declined as I fear seeing my old saggy boobie would distress you.

Kind Regards cherry xx

Wherever I lay my hat

Being polite is never a waste of time. I haven't used it to get on in life but I have found that I have been respected for treating others respectfully even when the circumstances have been challenging or I felt like giving them a piece of my mind.

I think it does help you in life. I find that other people appreciate it and will very often reciprocate.

Politeness is a two way street

Always polite. Even when it's not reciprocated. Why should I lower my standards to match those with out any?

Always served me well I feel

To those that are doing things for me or could do, then yes.

I hate people who can't even say a thankyou to waiters or people on checkouts.

Carlisle usually

Being polite isn't a lot to ask or expect in general.

But sticking a please on an utterly disgusting request doesn't make it less gross.

And getting upset when someone doesn't say Thank you for something you've infected upon them without consent is also rubbish.

Manners help.

Some people are beyond that level of help.

I don’t know if it helps me in life, I’ve only ever known one way.

It definitely goes a long way with me. I know if you’re polite or not. Please/thank yous/apologies/nice greetings etc, It speaks volumes to how likable a person could be

Just a *polite* reminder that this is a thinly disguised “send boobies” thread.

Although it is genuinely pleasing to hear how well mannered you all are! Keep up the good work
