A week ? Tbh, Sunak might have actually played a very clever move here (unlikely though) , promise Braverman the job, he gets her and the right wing support but he knows she will have to resign

I was thinking something like this… appoint her knowing she is going to have to resign.. then give the job to penny mourdant!

People keep saying it was a mistake… the mistake this time was that it basically ended up in an email chain, but the actual initial act itself was deliberate!

And she has previous to this to the point her nickname is leaky sue…

If I as a civil servant broke GDPR rules… I’d be sacked!

Hilarious watching her being pulled apart about the ERG on channel 4 news - Could not provide an answer about why the ERG which takes money from the public purse or more importantly why there is no list of members - she couldn’t understand that there was anything wrong with that! She’s a wrong un!

Okay so what part of her “breaking the ministerial code “ is either racist, or misogynistic? "

It started years ago against Sue Ellen but ramped up as soon as she entered the race to be Tory leader.

The vile comments against BAME politicians is poisonous and all too often comes from the Left who pose under the equality for all banner but do little to progress it, unlike the Tories.

Don't forget it was Labour MP Rupa Huq who was suspended by the party after she described Kwasi Kwarteng as “superficially” Black. Absolutely disgraceful.

You must admit some of the social media bias against her has been intolerable, well before the email issue.

Criticising a female MP for her religious beliefs.

Very classy.

Not very well worded by you, but I mentioned racism as much of the venom directed at Patel, Braverman, Kwarteng et al is borne out of it and thinly camouflaged.

Patel, Braverman and Truss are often the subject of misogyny on social media too.

They're not 'shit words' - it's real life bias and hatred that affects people deeply and has no place in British politics.

On the contrary, the Labour Party with it's nasty anti semitic faction, Huq's disgraceful 'superficially black' comment and its constant inability to deliver a female leader shows where consistent discrimination lies

So you are woke? That is good to hear, do you always get offended by racist and misogynistic behaviour? "

I'm alert to racial prejudice and discrimination. Call that what you want

"Your question does not make sense. How can I answer whether, when Sue Ellen broke the code, she had sexist, racist or misogynistic intent?

I just mentioned her breaking the ministerial code…

You are the one who mentioned racism and misogyny…..

I want you to explain how you got to racism and misogyny from breaking the ministerial code… rather than you just throwing shit “words” at a wall and seeing what sticks!

Tbf, Yvette Cooper was about to destroy her, no wonder she ran away

Nicola Sturgeon, Yvette Cooper and Bob Geldof taking in immigrants

Hasn't happened yet!

It's a rat trap.... and you've been caught

Do you care about homeless veterans?

Why are you asking?

Do you care or not? And if so, how many have you housed?

None, but I never promised that I would, unlike these virtue signalling politicians and pop stars!

Yes, of course I care.

Then house a few then, maybe these people said they would house immigrants were lying, surely you don’t mind liars ?

You house a few. We haven't all got your money or Bob Geldof's

No thanks, i pay tax to the government for them to sort out the problem

You could go further and dip into your wealth that you gloat about... if you really cared so much

I care just as much as you do. I didn’t gloat about my wealth, you suggested I was on benefits I merely replied to that (btw, there is nothing wrong with being on benefits ) "

That's not correct.

The only suggestion came from you when you said 'I don't work for my money'

I then asked if you were on benefits.

Woke means different things to different people. You won't find out why she uses it as an insult until you look inside her head and discover what her personal definition is.

You house a few. We haven't all got your money or Bob Geldof's

No thanks, i pay tax to the government for them to sort out the problem

You could go further and dip into your wealth that you gloat about... if you really cared so much

I care just as much as you do. I didn’t gloat about my wealth, you suggested I was on benefits I merely replied to that (btw, there is nothing wrong with being on benefits )

That's not correct.

The only suggestion came from you when you said 'I don't work for my money'

I then asked if you were on benefits.

And I replied that I wasn’t and explained the realms why, btw, why would I be on benefits? Are you on benefits ?

No

I'm fortunate to be in work for my money

Plenty of working people are on benefits (nothing they be ashamed off)

Never said otherwise. I just don't have to claim them fortunately.

That’s good, nothing to be ashamed off if did have to though ??

Ashamed of?

Are pensioners ashamed of claiming the state pension? What a strange direction to take this? "

No, and neither should people be ashamed of claiming benefits? Don’t you agree?

"Because Braverman (the women your defending) keeps using the term Woke as an insult, she is either thick or she is confused?

Woke means different things to different people. You won't find out why she uses it as an insult until you look inside her head and discover what her personal definition is."

That's the most ridiculous blancmange I've ever trumpeted.

Haha, you would have thought that our pedantic friend on here and the home secretary would know and stick to the ‘real’ meaning of the word rather than the slang version, maybe it’s due to a lack of education?

"what is your definition of woke? And do you think the Home Secretary should be using it as an insult "

My definition is nearly the same as yours - "alert to prejudice and discrimination". The problem comes in deciding what the word 'alert' means.

It could be:

1. Noticing issues when you see them.

2. Noticing issues, and trying to fix them.

3. Actively looking for issues, and trying to fix them.

4. Actively looking for potential issues, and condemning everyone who disagrees with you.

We've all seen examples of type 4, and I suspect that's what the Home Secretary was thinking when she used it as an insult. But, like I say, without getting her to explain, we can't tell.

Do I think she should have used it as an insult? No. The word is too poorly defined to be used in any sort of sensible discussion.

Best case scenario, she looks like an idiot using a poorly defined word in its unintended context.

Worst case scenario, she's suggesting that it's an insult to be alert to social injustice.

Then why did she use it? And how can we be sure we know anything that she really means unless we are in her head? She might not even know what other words mean ? You would have thought a person in her position would use the proper , English dictionary definition of the word?

"That's the most ridiculous blancmange I've ever trumpeted.

Feel free to look up the dictionary definitions of the word 'woke' and marvel at how different they all are. Notice that some definitions say it's only racial injustices, but others say it's all injustices. Notice that some say 'alert to' and others say 'actively attentive to'. Notice that some say it's about all social and cultural issues and others say that it's specifically about injustices.

There's a wide world of wokery out there

That's because dictionaries lag rather than lead. In the English language, there is no guiding body determining how words should be used. We get our meanings by people using the words. The dictionaries record the way that words are used, rather than how they should be used.

It won't be long before the dictionaries add an alternative definition of 'overly sensitive to any issue involving race'. You might not agree with that definition, but that is how lots of people are using the word.

There is. And only an absolute moron would think it's an insult to be alert or attentive to social injustice. Unless of course the person using it as an insult is the culprit of social injustice.

Yep, if she does survive in the short term she will mess up at some point in the future, she is incompetent

Thinly concealed racism and misogyny may eventually play a part, but how sad would that be? "

Should Ministers adhere to the Ministerial code?

She could start by extending the fines for carrying illegal immigrants. Include anyone who helps to bring the immigrants here, including the RNLI. Also stop border force picking them up.

They then need to go the entire distance in the small boat not half way to the waiting taxis.

Also fine any UK citizen who goes to work in the camps in France. They should actually be charged with treason.

"Let’s hope she rises to the challenge, does a brilliant job and confounds us all.

She can start by ending the illegal immigrant industry, restoring order to our border, then start grown up dialogue with our European friends to end the Schengen restrictions for us Brits .

They should actually be charged with treason."

The RNLI makes excellent recycled carrier bags. Thanks for reminding me to pick another one up

You may well be right. But, let’s all get behind her, show her she’s supported, give her a fighting chance to do a great job. Are you in?

Yes, absolutely the best thing to do is to leave people to drown.

The bodies of a few children washing up on our shores will be a great statement of intent.

I’m on planet Earth. Better to stop them from getting in boats in the first place of course.

Are you worried about losing business?

She could do that by spending a small portion of the £5m day on employing more staff to process refugees so that they could go out and get jobs and find somewhere to live as over 80% are genuine refugees.

She could also spend some money another small portion in setting up legal routes to the UK for refugees thereby completely undercutting any criminal activity as it is then ethically and objectively to remove those who have not applied abroad back to the, very sadly numerous, refugee communities where they came from with an appropriate payment to the aid agencies or charities to apply legally.

Yhe chosen government "solution" has exacerbated the problem but rather than reassess and come up with something new they repeat he same mistakes again and again.

Like you saying something racist and then feigning shock and denying everything when you are called out on it.

It's like a very bitter and unfunny version of Groundhog Day.

I will leave you to continue to marinade in your fear and anger and denial of who you really are

Yes, she spends a lot of time blaming immigrants for everything, it's a distraction tactic that's proven very effective. You'll like her a lot I should imagine.

Hopefully she's ousted and replaced with someone who has the normal human attributes of empathy and understanding. I doubt it though.

Once again, disingenuous. What has she blamed ILLEGAL immigrants for?"

Then what's the problem?

They are trying to enter the UK illegally from another safe country. They are therefore knowingly putting themselves in danger. Therefore don't deserve any sympathy, and no resources should be expended to assist them.

If they get onto the beaches they should be arrested for entering the UK illegally and deported quickly.

10,000 plane tickets to Albania would be required ASAP.

which ones, Seb?

Are we trying to prevent the trade or prevent people from being able to claim asylum.

Or reduce the cost of the asylum process (as there will be mention of hotel bills soon)

And how well will any of the above achieve this?

The idea additional deterrents will be impactful is limited afaik. The HO didn't put any numbers against the Rwanda deterent itrc.

Imagine traumatising those who seek to rescue others. Driving them away from trying to help others. Forcing them to watch people needlessly die.

... And then remember that sometimes Brits need help too. And if our rescuers are traumatised they won't be able to rescue you, either, they'll be ill.

"Let’s hope she rises to the challenge, does a brilliant job and confounds us all.

She can start by ending the illegal immigrant industry, restoring order to our border, then start grown up dialogue with our European friends to end the Schengen restrictions for us Brits .

Would you extend that complete bollocks idea to the NHS?

Fine them if they perform life saving surgery on someone who may be fleeing persecution?

Fleeing persecution from France? I know there are some narrow minded bigots in this world but France is a lovely country.

Subjecting people to some of their cheeses, snails, and pop music could be considered ‘persecution’ I guess?

Why don’t you attack the French for not putting these people up in French hotels?

Is everyone your world dealt with under the premise of 'attacking others'..

Take a moment Ffs and ask yourself if you are really ok with the sick and inhumane thought processes of others who want the RNLI to leave people in potential risk of drowning or fine them if they save lives..?

Is that you?

Imagine traumatising those who seek to rescue others. Driving them away from trying to help others. Forcing them to watch people needlessly die.

... And then remember that sometimes Brits need help too. And if our rescuers are traumatised they won't be able to rescue you, either, they'll be ill.

The scum and I don't attribute such a description willy Billy, who verbally and more cowardly online attacked the members of the RNLI are beyond contempt..

In years ahead will we look back and wonder how we ended up in such a divided society..

First the came for the judges..

Then the immigration lawyers..

Then the RNLI volunteers.. "

Very much. It's revolting.

Yes, absolutely the best thing to do is to leave people to drown.

The bodies of a few children washing up on our shores will be a great statement of intent.

That is very woke? I thought it was only the luvvy left that are offended by racism and misogyny?

Surely most reasonable, decent people detest racism and misogyny? When did I say detesting it was the preserve of the 'luvvy left'?

On the contrary, the Labour Party with it's nasty anti semitic faction, Huq's disgraceful 'superficially black' comment and its constant inability to deliver a female leader shows where consistent discrimination lies

So you are woke? That is good to hear, do you always get offended by racist and misogynistic behaviour?

I'm alert to racial prejudice and discrimination. Call that what you want

That is the definition of woke,

Are you woke? "

This extensive diversion away from the OP, how long until she goes, is a pity and unnecessary.

I'm guessing she will resign, as it will be seen as 'outstanding' behaviour, despite her tarnished image. This issue should be raised every week, until it's absolutely crystal clear that her appointment shows the continuing tory shit show, nothing different to see.

There are views and people that I do not like who are not racist.

You are though. Based solely on your words and the sentiments that they express.

It is strange that you are unable to recognise it in yourself. All that I can do is point it out so that you recognise what racism is.

There may be a few children, but the vast majority will be the criminal single men gaming the system.

Letting them drown not an issue though. If there are a few children mixed in, so be it, right?

They are trying to enter the UK illegally from another safe country. They are therefore knowingly putting themselves in danger. Therefore don't deserve any sympathy, and no resources should be expended to assist them.

If they get onto the beaches they should be arrested for entering the UK illegally and deported quickly.

10,000 plane tickets to Albania would be required ASAP."

But we saw Johnson refuse to sack people who had to be sacked over and over again. Feels like Sunak is following in the same footsteps.

QED

I didn’t make it up. It was an assumption. But you doth protest too much me thinks.

That is what an assumption is. Made up.

Weirdly, you are now implying that my not being an immigration lawyer is somehow evidence as I am.

You are a strange chap

Still unable to come up with any constructive method of improving the refugee processing system other than repeating what is already failing.

Thank you for your contribution

How funny.

Seb, i thought we were making progress, it looks like you have gone back to your confused and terrified ways, sad to see

What on earth makes you say that?

I take it you are quite comfortable with over ten thousand men from Albania coming here illegally?"

I'm not entirely ecstatic with such figures if they are true and not another let's frighten and soften up the population before more bizarre solutions from this government..

There are massive global issues with movement of people, be that famine, climate change, war or plain old opportunity for some who've watched this government reduce core services to such an extent that they know they will evade being caught if they leg it and are up to no good..

Big problems require commitment and resourcing properly by government..

Letting people drown is not one I want any government to allow..

"Let’s hope she rises to the challenge, does a brilliant job and confounds us all.

She can start by ending the illegal immigrant industry, restoring order to our border, then start grown up dialogue with our European friends to end the Schengen restrictions for us Brits .

Yes, absolutely the best thing to do is to leave people to drown.

The bodies of a few children washing up on our shores will be a great statement of intent.

I am uncomfortable if they are remaining and working in the uk illegally. They are ripe for exploitation. I can also see no benefit to the UK of illegal workers, other than for employees or customers of the companies.

I am also uncomfortable if that number have a legitimate claim here, as it likely means that number are being trafficed. So it's the same flavour of the above.

There is, I suspect, a huge illegal industry behind this. Algeria has, I believe, a reputation for organised crime.

We need to address the roots here. The boat people are often the product, not the criminals.

There is a massive and growing global movement from the south and east. However, it’s nothing to do with climate change. It is everything to do with over population, high birth rates and the exodus of jobs to China. At the same time there is a mass movement of jobs and money from Europe to China also.

We are possibly seeing the end of western civilisation. Not as dramatic as the fall of Rome to the Barbarians that led to the dark ages but a steady decline indeed.

Wow! Look at the population of Pakistan in 1970 compared to today. The landscape was formed by torrential floods. Madagascar, had a drought and the biased BBC claimed it as the first climate change famine. No mention that on an island the population has exploded from six to twenty six million. Perhaps that is the cause? Perhaps dopey stop oil protesters should go out there and lecture them on birth control.

Of course I don’t want anyone to drown.

Interesting interview with the head of the CBI on Emily Maitlis and John Sopels podcast - for the last 15 years the UK economy has had hardly any growth (12 years of which has been Tory governments) - the only answer that the man from the CBI could come up with to improve growth was to increase immigration. Now his take was that we need high quality professionals to fill vacancies and make the economy grow as it was the only way to achieve this without investment. Now given how many high quality EU citizens have gone home since Brexit and now that we are cut out of areas like Horizon or Erasmus you have to ask how many feet we have left to shoot ourselves in? Braverman is an idiot, Brexit was an existential disaster and all this shit about 10000 Albanians arriving on our shores is just a distraction for the retired daily mail reading muppets at the 19th hole to bray into their pints about. The solution is to engage with immigration and make it work for us not to prevaricate and delay in a hostile environment because the only ones who win in that case are Tory donors like Serco!

"Interesting interview with the head of the CBI on Emily Maitlis and John Sopels podcast - for the last 15 years the UK economy has had hardly any growth (12 years of which has been Tory governments) - the only answer that the man from the CBI could come up with to improve growth was to increase immigration.

So you think it’s ok for over 10,000 Albanians, mostly men of military age and unknown background to come here illegally? How many can we put you down for to house & feed?

Is this the only option?

Either you hate foriegners, or 10,000 of them have to stay at your gaff?

Blimey.

I assume you are exaggerating for effect? I don’t know anybody that ‘hates foreigners’ they don’t exist. "

They definitely do. There are in fact more foreigners than non-foreign people on this planet. You should know, you tell us regularly how worried you are about them and how you believe they cause all these problems.

There are indeed more foreigners than non. No disingenuous thoughts there.

Not very ‘woke’ of you, some would say rude to be dismissive of a group of people based on age, choice of newspaper and sport.

Need to do a bit better.

"Let’s hope she rises to the challenge, does a brilliant job and confounds us all.

She can start by ending the illegal immigrant industry, restoring order to our border, then start grown up dialogue with our European friends to end the Schengen restrictions for us Brits .

Yes, absolutely the best thing to do is to leave people to drown.

The bodies of a few children washing up on our shores will be a great statement of intent.

WTF are you on?

I’m on planet Earth. Better to stop them from getting in boats in the first place of course.

Are you worried about losing business?

What a bizarre comment. Do please explain the tortured logic path that led you to this "hilarious" reposte

I assumed you make a fortune as an immigration lawyer.

Why do you make up lies?

But I don’t.

I'm not an immigration lawyer.

You made that up.

I take it you are quite comfortable with over ten thousand men from Albania coming here illegally?

I'm not entirely ecstatic with such figures if they are true and not another let's frighten and soften up the population before more bizarre solutions from this government..

There are massive global issues with movement of people, be that famine, climate change, war or plain old opportunity for some who've watched this government reduce core services to such an extent that they know they will evade being caught if they leg it and are up to no good..

Big problems require commitment and resourcing properly by government..

Letting people drown is not one I want any government to allow..

Many parts of the globe are experiencing prolonged drought, and yes for some drought is not an uncommon phenomenon in their history but what the world is seeing is the effects of climate change upon populations and their ability to grow basic foodstuffs..

Ditto flooding in some parts too as we've just seen in Pakistan..

The science is pretty clear and the impacts are and will cause population movement..

Do you still agree that letting people drown in the seas around our shores is a way of dealing with that area of immigration?

There is certainly population growth.

There is also climate change.

These are not mutually exclusive events.

There is a markedly increased rate in extreme weather events. That is a consequence of climate change. These create more hardship in many parts of the world.

There has also been an increase in large scale armed conflict without a return to security and stability afterwards.

All of this leads to large scale displacement of populations on a long term basis.

Curious that you are unable to recognise that.

It is not only the reasonably neutral BBC that reported the Madagascar famine as a consequence of climate change.

Unlike you, they do not make things up. They report on verifiable information.

Just one of those things

There is no published data to indicate that 10,000 Albanians have arrived through irregular immigration.

There is equally no published data to indicate their sex or age.

Why would you use the term "military age". It sounds like someone feeling or trying to instill fear. Why not use the phrase "football playing age"?

Irregular immigration has increased as the current Governments policy of removing legal routes, reducing resource to process those seeking asylum and increasing coastal patrols has been intensified. Further increases have taken place since Braverman's dream of Rwanda flights have been announced.

Why do wish the new/old Home Secretary to pursue a failed policy?
