Hidden Profile should be just for people who want a rest from the site, and who don't want to advertise their profile while they're away.
IMO though, if online your profile should always show albeit you have the option to hide all pics/veri's etc |

Many folks on here aren't pc literate and they may not realise they are on hidden.
Many people aren't aware of all the filters and stuff and apply them wrong.
Just one of them things |
