Are group social meets a thing?

New to all of this so probably asking a ridiculous question...

Are larger, group social meets a thing for an area? Falkirk/Stirling specifically.

We'd like to get to know others and have options for meets but our time is limited so while lots of chats on here are fun, we would like to meet people face to face. You never really know what people will be like when they're not behind the safety of a keyboard and having some kind of spark can only really be confirmed in person I think. However, as we only really have one night of freedom a month it makes a social then meet at another time very difficult.

Any advice and knowledge is gratefully received.

Organise your own? There was talk of a Falkirk/Stirling social I'm sure. Do a forum search.
