"Without naming anyone...how do you spot signs of a fake profile... Getting to the point of where I'm doubting everyone...!!"

It can be difficult, especially when they have fake verifications, try google images with their pics, cross reference their verifications, ask for a quick phone call, Facebook, etc

well if they are not verified that's a good start.

pics that look like holiday snaps can be a giveaway.

if its a couple and the profile says " I" not "we" big clue.

if the profile is all about what he like and wants and says she given him permission to play anyone could be a clue.

but usually follow your gut feeling. always ask to see the couple on cam if they can don't have to be nude or show faces. just be there and together. or speak on phone.

hope this helps ?

Verifications are a good start but check that the profiles that gave the verification are active as we have found one or two ppeople have made other fake profiles to verify their fake profile !!!!! How desperate do you need to be to be that fake ????

This is pretty much what it boils down too. We never really worry if a profile is fake or not, we just trust our instincts and won't meet anyone we have the slightest suspicion or concern about. We have knocked people back who subsequently have become well verified but equally we've never had a problem with time wasters.

I use my gut instincts and also check verifications but must admit that every now and again the odd faker does make their way through my selection process so it's not always fool proof

Someone recently was using the face pic of what was apparently a top London chef according to the website the pic was taken from when I google reverse image searched it lol. Good old image search, although many fake profiles have no pics.

"...try google images with their pics..."

I'm reported some pretty outrageous fakes recently. One using a model's photo (not a well known model but still) and another using a pic of a member of the cast of Jersey Shore.

Verifications, pictures, content of message and ask to pop on cam in the chat rooms if they refuse I wouldn't take the risk and say they are not for me. As has already been said though gut instinct is the best, if it's too good to be true then it more than likely is

And similarly pics sometimes come up in the search but it doesnt mean they are fake. A hell of a lot of people have their pics on other sites too...

I think you need a bit of common sense when using Goggle Search.

Havent a clue why they do it or what they get out of it. Probably need a psychologist to explain it.

I often wonder if there is an exclusive site that they would be priced out of. Then again there are probably wealthy fruit loops out there as well.

Let me clarify as your struggling to understand, the act of blocking someone for suggesting using Facebook is pathetic, . Also you can look at a persons profile without befriending them? It's possible to get you name and address from your IP address or phone number so your obviously deluded about the power of Facebook

Have to be honest I would not add anyone on here on Facebook, most people know what I do but my Facebook is for family and friends and that includes a lot of kids. I wouldn't want to risk a wall post or comment creating an awkward situation. I would also find any such request an intrusion, however I would tell the requester this and end communication if they pushed it I would block. There are enough elements on here you can use to prove someone genuine without intruding into their private lives .

I would also find any such request an intrusion, however I would tell the requester this and end communication if they pushed it I would block. There are enough elements on here you can use to prove someone genuine without intruding into their private lives . "

That's your choice, but Facebook can be used to spot a fake, I polite no thanks would suffice, blocking straight away is very immature

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it but a lot of people on Fab use the block button straight away to avoid people they don't want contact with, the block button is there for people to use as they see fit, just because they use it in a different way to you does not make their use inappropriate or immature - its a means to an end, simple as that.

"Without naming anyone...how do you spot signs of a fake profile... Getting to the point of where I'm doubting everyone...!!

It can be difficult, especially when they have fake verifications, try google images with their pics, cross reference their verifications, ask for a quick phone call, Facebook, etc

Facebook? Seriously? Anyone that I'd never met asked for that they'd be blocked like a shot!

Why?? Are you ashamed about what yiu do on here

How does my response even equate to being ashamed of my life style? It's called discretion. And it's about security and privacy.

So why would you block someone for asking you to look at their Facebook , a pathetic over reaction ??

That's twice you've used the word pathetic to challenge someone having a differing opinion to you...

But not an overreaction and certainly not a pathetic one. I would not want to meet someone that couldn't see why such a request was a massive invasion of it.

I have people from here and a considerable number from the London fet scene who I regularly socialise with on my Facebook. I have no problem with my vanilla and real lives crossing over, but someone who ive never met? Not a chance!

Let me clarify as your struggling to understand, the act of blocking someone for suggesting using Facebook is pathetic, . Also you can look at a persons profile without befriending them? It's possible to get you name and address from your IP address or phone number so your obviously deluded about the power of Facebook

how on earth does seeing a Facebook profile proove someone is genuine if they don't add you? They cout tell you any name...

What? Put your name into google

If someone has a fake profile on here surely its not beyond the realms of possibility that they might also have fake accounts on social network Hi, how are you finding things on here? Have you been inundated with messages?

sites, they presumably are fantasists? "

True, but let's be honest your be very pedantic to create an argument, if your suggesting that Facebook can not be used to help verify a profile then i must have been duped by the last 40 meets I have had on here

No reason any social network can't have fake profiles. Many people on the program "Catfish" are caught out by fake facebook profiles.

Perhaps you should retrack and read what I have written. Nowhere have I said that MY opinion is the right one, I said I was simply expressing my opinion as you did yours and I also said you are perfectly entitled to yours. By the same token so are all the other posters, YOU are the one that has been bandying words like pathetic and immature not me. And if you care to reread the thread you might also care to note that the things you claim I have stated were not stated by me at all. I did not say Facebook could not be used as a means of verification - I posed the question that if people had fake Fab accounts they might also have fake social network accounts, nothing more, you have chosen to put your own interpretation on my words.

EVERYONE on a forum is entitled to express their opinion and most of us appreciate when we do that not everyone else will agree with it. I do not however thing it is necessary to use words such as pathetic or immature in answer to people simply because they do not behave as you do.

If Facebook works for you that's great and good luck in using it to verify your prospective meets. We all have our own means of doing so, yours is no more right or wrong than anyone else's.

One big difference in the 2 scenarios is that you are the only calling people pathetic and immature. And that does kind of weaken your position (rightly or wrongly) as it comes across as exactly what you are accusing people of being for not agreeing with you.

Of course people can be verified as genuine ny using Facebook. No one has said otherwise though it is of course not a failsafe solution. The point I made and that others have agreed with is why on earth would people disclose so much personal information to someone that's messaged them on a swingers site and isn't even convinced they are genuine

I would say that in 7 years on the scene I've had no problems with fakes or timewasters. I'd never say my way was the only way but I would say it works very well for us.

True, Facebook isn't essential but it can help, even if you have a quick look then get unfriended, to block someone for asking is pathetic "

To trust some stranger with your facebook, where they can instantly contact your mum/dad/sibblings, see where you work etc is madness, so we would block nosey twits.

That and I (male half) well I'm not on facebook at all.

But then on reading this thread we are fakes anyways as despite having met in person veris from clubs, we dont have pics on nor do we display veri's
