My word Classy

Is your own company that bad?!?

Tell yourself a joke, do something stupid and make yourself laugh, shave your hair off, paint your face, test out the battery life on your vibe

I can’t answer your question, as I’ve not had Covid. But I’ve had friends who’ve had it. The reason I’m sending this is because I’ve heard them say that what they don’t tell you is that your taste may be scuppered for ages after the two weeks. It comes back (I don’t know when) but it can come back and be different. So foods you like may not taste the same and things you once disliked taste fine.

As for entertaining yourself. I’m not going to go down the cheeky route...

A good book. Netflix/IPlayer/All4. A wee puzzle game on your phone?

Try Thai.

Tom Yoon Gang is sweet, sour and spicy and if not, try a recipe from David Thompson Street food book. One has 40 birds eye chilli's in it!

If you can't taste that, yer fucked!

Sorry

"David Thompson: Thai street food recipes | Thai food and drink | The Guardian" https://amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2010/sep/19/david-thompson-thai-recipes

Try the STIR-FRIED MINCED BEEF WITH CHILLIES AND HOLY BASIL (NEUA PAT BAI GRAPAO)

And have milk or Singha beer on hand for safety

I had it back in March, my smell/taste was gone for about a week. Don't bother trying to find things you can taste, it'll just be more depressing when you cant. Youve got to eat to keep your strength up but keep it simple, i did alot of soup, mash and beans and crackers.

On the boredom, i watched alot of netflix, and played evil apples (cards against humanity) on my phone. Rest up, it'll get better soon.

couple, us we him her.

I'm just over five weeks since first getting symptoms didn't so much lose smell and taste but had/have a constant peppery acidic taste and smell in nose and throat.

It was overpowering and made me gag constantly.

It's Faded but still there, don't think there's anything you can do.

Maybe try a warm honey and lemon drink but not sure it will help.

As for boredom.

Yeah drive's you nuts.

Try watching the sinner on Netflix, the queen's gambit.

If you have prime Grey's anatomy that will keep you going for months.

No advice on the smell/taste but as for filling your time, why not try a new hobby? Knitting, crochet, painting, writing? There are great tutorials online for all skill levels of just about anything you can think of. Do some decorating. Learn to bake or cook something new. Have a home spa day. Sell your unwanted stuff on Ebay. There a thousand and one things you could do.

It's not just Covid that affects your taste, I've had Flu a couple of times in the past and and both times everything tasted strange for weeks.

Also as a matter of interest, if you catch Flu, it's nasty, and you'll wish you'd had the Flu jab.

My sister had it a few months ago and she reckons that ginger is good for the taste, especially of you are feeling a bit sick with it

Reminds me of my dad. He had cancer of the tongue, which they removed 1/2 and replaced with a section from his forearm. Meant 50% taste. He really loved his food, ended up being fed through his stomach, can you imagine zero satisfaction in not being able to eat.

I cant be certain it was covid I had in March but I lost my sense of taste and smell so we isolated. Took at least 2 weeks to come back to a good level.

It came back slowly I could get hints of things. Then it fully returned after about 2 weeks. Even now I find some things have very little taste. I can taste most things but subtle things the tastes they once had arent quite as fine tuned. I also find im using a lot more salt now.

Mine went completely (it was my first symptom) but it was back within a fortnight. I understand why you don't want to eat. I stopped having tea and coffee because it felt like a waste of tea bags etc. We only ate properly because our 17yo son was here to cook.

I believe that most get there taste back after a couple of weeks. Not always though I had cover back in March, despite the fact that my serious symptoms went after 5 days my breathing is still not back to normal and my sense of smell and taste is still awful.
