Is this still going on? Got a text from what seems to be NHS, saying I've been in close contact with someone who has Omicron variant.

I don't know, but I've seen reports that scammers are using Track and Trace.

You probably have been in contact with someone who's had active Covid. We all have.

Did it tell you to go to a link that wasn't NHS?

Scam

Fraudsters can easily put any number on a text to make it look as though it’s come from it all part of the scam

If the text message comes under a mobile number and not a NHS banner it is fake. Also, if you open up the link to the scam it will look like a legit NHS website and give instructions what to do but if you click on one of the links to other places you will find they don't work. We'll what a surprise.

"I could have sworn there was another thread on her about covid-moving on, did that get deleted?"

Haha

'Covid-Moving On' was a thread I started for a light hearted, friendly peek at how everyone is getting along.

Some nice posts with people's different takes on how they are trying to move on or not.

Within a dozen or so posts the experts started their teenage angst posts, cutting and pasting, long percentage point statements and banal jibberings, some 'what the fuck are they taking about' posts and some so crazy they were gut wrenching funny.

But alas, eventually they bored the pants off me so I contacted the wonderful moderators explained my dilemma and high level of boredom and they kindly deleted the thread for me.

Me too.

Used the link but the mail out test asks for a couple of quid delivery.

The free ones work for me.

I tested positive on Saturday night and registered my result I then had NHS message telling me to go to the app and type in a code so that people I’ve been in contact with could be notified anonymously I don’t have the app so therefore couldn’t do it

I had the same text 2 weeks ago and literally one this morning. It's definitely a scam.

1. It's a txt message from a mobile number and completely wrong NHS link.

2. It would be an alert from the NHS Covid app NOT a random txt message.

I got COVID-19, tested positive.

Submitted my result to the NHS App and everyone that I had been in close contact with (that had the App) were alerted.

One of those individuals also tested positive.

The App is there for good reason!

Likely to be a scam. If you are concerned I’d just test as normal. A lot of scammers have been using this method for you to click a link. I wouldn’t entertain that as I work in digital security

Just be careful there's a lot of scammers still using this as a way to get people's details.

Grab a test kit and fingers crossed you're ok.

Have you still got the app on your phone??

Don't be stressing yourself, £37b is a fraction of what we've lost leaving the EU you'll soon have it paid back

Because your information would be contained within the app then notify you if you have been in contact with anyone who has reported to them being infected by them being tested
