The urge to try a biking and camping trip has taken over. I have been camping 40+ years so am ok on the drill for that. What is vexing me is what sort of luggage to take, pros and cons of the stuff available. Anyone willing to offer some advice?

Depends how much you want to carry, and if you’re taking a pillion too?

I’ve only taken myself and my gear, and have always used throw over soft panniers, tent, rollmat fastened on across the top and occasionally a tank bag if I’ve needed anything more. Over a few years Ive whittled down what I actually need to a minimum.

I will say it’s mostly rallies or shows that I’ve camped at. Do there’s not much need to carry loads of food and cooking gear, I do take a small stove and some stuff to make a brew in a morning though

Check out kriega. I have a set of their stuff and swear by it. Its not cheap but you get what you pay for. I have toured on my Honda Hornet with a decent size tail pack, strap their rucksack to the top and it's ideal.

That being said I stay in bed and breakfasts so don't have to worry about tents etc.
