We are considering riding to a friends wedding in Italy in 2024.

We are in the thinking about it mode at the minute but wondered if anyone had recommendations about scenic routes over the Alps?

We would not be a rush to get there and are looking for some options at the minute.

cheers in anticipation

We went to Italy via Switzerland, we stayed at a lovely place called Interlaken. It is a great place to use as a base to explore some great passes in the the alps before heading over Gothard into Italy. Don't be tempted to go through Gothard tunnel, its a nightmare. 10 mile and lack of oxygen on the bike not to mention the heat in the tunnel. At the end of the day whatever pass you use in the Alps will be amazing. Look at Stelvio, it may be a bit out of the way and is very challenging but awesome

Thanks for that info, a 10 mile tunnel on a bike sounds like a real nightmare.

We will have a look those appreciate the info.
