Looking for some options on a comfy seat for long distance.

Any advice?

Padded bike pants are a cheap and cheerful alternative

Been suggested a gel pad as an option.

Bike shop said they can have seats made, but bit of a chance a new one wouldn't work.

Air pads are great. After trying both I would say that they are much better than gel. You just have to adjust the pressure very carefully..almost none is best.

Yes you get a slightly detached feeling but for touring that is not a big deal for the enhanced comfort. Less good for Cadwell Park but why would you be asking,?
