"Sad news 2026 has been cancelled. Hopefully just a break and it will be back 2027"
We already have the house booked for next year so we'll still be going. I think the main street and the bars will still be busy. Like many people we didn't bother going up to the Mcdonald resort for any of that stuff so we won't miss it .
Maybe time for a change of location again though, I think the hotels, accommodation owners and restaurants are all getting a little bit too greedy up there. They can only push peoples pockets so far and then they will end up with nothing |

Aye, thats a fair point, prices are a little wild. Im far to cheap to pay hotel prices. Im camping this year. Guess as long as people want to get together they will make it happen |

"Once again we are going to miss TITG!
Every year something important appears in our diary for that weekend. It’s uncanny!
Last one in a long time seemingly..organisers having a break"
So I hear. I think next year the Commonwealth Games dates for Glasgow would conflict with TITG and for important family reasons that would take precedence.
If it returns in 2027 though we would be available.
Crazy to think that we are having to plan years in advance but that’s unfortunately the way our life is at present. |

That's the crux. Thunder is all the stuff that happens in the Resort. If people don't buy tickets, the organisers can't cover the costs and it doesn't happen.
Without the bikes there is no thunder, no mass ride out, no traders, just a free mini music festival. |

Apart from the ride out for many it is all to do with what happens in the Main Street . Not everyone can afford the extortionate ticket price to watch bands up there . Not everyone rides a Harley or wants to watch them patting each other on the back up there .
Mini music festival it is then , still be good and worth the trip |

"hey scootz , how did you do Sturgis, did you rent a bike is there any point in renting a bike etc, been wanting to do it for years just up for a chat about it "
I was looking at renting a bike but ut is bloody expensive. I have friends there so they found a harley for sale for good money so, i bought it and keep it there. Using it again next year so it will have paid for itself, compared to renting.
We did 13 states, 4500 miles in two weeks. Spent the week there, before sturgis started. Its quieter to get the riding in, then stayedfor opening weekend, its very busy.
We stayed in deadwood, better partying than sturgis. It was awsome. |
