Chinese adv bikes vs 2nd BMW/Triumph

Im considering buying a chinese adventure bike, voge ds900 or a cm moto 700mt.
Currently have a 99 vfr800. I want to do some more long distance touring, and struggle a little on the vfr since im quite tall. I can manage 200ish miles for 3-4 days but any more and im hurting lol.
I like the idea of the mod cons on a new bike but im wondering if better off buying a second hand GS or tiger.
2nd hand budget is 3k, new bike budget 9k but will be financed as well...

I think you'll struggle to find a GS for £3k.
Why borrow money to fund a new Chinese bike that will depreciate like mad, is an unknown quantity in terms of build quality and reliability.
A used GS that's been well looked after will hold it's value far better and they're reliable with plenty of back up.
And yes, I own a GS.. Lol |

I agree with above poster, although there is no doubt Chinese build quality is getting better and better, the depreciation will kill it, so unless you intend to keep it for a long time, I’d find away of buying a established brand
The new honda looks and sounds great and not a lot more than your new budget |

Cf moto is actually really good , rode a few of them now and was going to order one before all the ktm nonsense kicked off , as they use the same distribution channels…
I would say the CF is better built than the Italian , similar to the Japanese and far better value than the Germans |

Is that the transalp? Someone mentioned that, but by the time you put some pannier racks on it, some bars etc it soon ads up to 14-15k! |

Hmm yea looking more like 4-5k for a GS, more for a half decent one! The tigers seem better value 2nd hand tbh now im looking at it |

I read down this and was about to suggest a V-Strom too, then the last poster beat me to it. Cracking bikes (especially the 1000), very reliable and all the performance you need while incredibly comfy for us taller guys. The Chinese ones may be ok for now, but try selling it secondhand when it is 3 years old |

As a few have said I’d go for a good second hand bike from a main stream manufacturer at te moment.
Compare the bike market to the car market about 10-15 years ago a good number of Korean manufacturers coming in with cheap cars that not worth anything on resale, eventually one or two manufacturers survive and are still in market with good products.
Same is going to happen with Chinese bikes and car. |
