Anyone doing the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride this year?

We did the Oxford ride a couple of years ago and it was great fun - loads of classic bikes and the riders really entered the spirit of the event.

Was going to do Bristol but apparently I don’t have the right bike. Is it a hard rule if you don’t have a bobber etc?

Nice one. Mines a 2007 BMW R1200GS which I actually take off road unlike some make believers

Its supposed to be for classics or "modern classics" - basically un-faired bikes of pretty much any age.

There is a guide on the DGR website. Although the BMW GS is a great bike I'm not sure it counts.

Having said that a guy turned up to the Oxford ride on a bright yellow Triumph Daytona! Provided you make an effort who is going to chuck you out?

I’ve seen those Yellow triumphs. Need sunglasses!! Read the bike requirements too. I’ll skip it and go for a blast over the Salisbury Plain.

Ride safe if you are going. Cords and t jackets don’t have much armour!

I agree - ride safe, but round Oxford its difficult to go faster than the push bikes - and how many of them do you see wearing leather and kevlar?
