A box at end of your bed

Your allowed to have one motorcycle back which you owned sometime in your passed. Knowing what you do now with prices of some older and classic bike prices or maybe it's a bike you just have fond memories off riding.

Only one bike now not two or three.

Mine would be my first bike which I had from 13 until 17 the classic and now worth a fortune but hold some fond memories for me too.

The Yamaha FS1E

I bought a Yamaha TY175 with some birthday money when I was 13 and got it running after it had been stood for years in a local farmers shed. Would spend the whole day up on the mountains looking for difficult bits to get to and she never let me down and would take me anywhere!

Would have a seriously sore calf from the kick start kicking back and smacking me though!

I keep an eye out for them now but I can't justify buying one for the amount I would be able to use it. Once I have a bit more free time I might consider buying one and get into classic trials etc

I had a ZXR750 L3 in the black and purple scheme.

It was my first big sports bike.

It was a doddle to work on and the motor was bomb proof.

Heavier front end than the YZF 750 (which my wife had at the time) but thought it tracked better.

The YZF 750 she had was another I would have in the champagne cocktail colours.

I wouldn't want the effing thing back at any price, but it's strange, whenever I dream about the old days, I am invariably on a Susie GT250C that I bought new as my 2nd bike in 1978. Always a tad faster than an RD250, but not so 'tightly made' somehow - rattled a bit more! Weird to dream of it over 40 years later!

I've been slowly and gradually collecting and restoring the bikes that were important to me from when I started riding.

Have a healthy collection now and some great memories.

Difficult to pick one that I've missed and still want.

Not because it was my first or my best but it’d have to be my Z1000MKII because I spent three seven week summers between 81-83 rough camping or in cheap digs (If weather was shite) generally bumming around Europe on it.

Had a week long stopover near Amsterdam one year staying with the barmaid of the bar I stopped for a bite in.

Lots of memories made with that bike.

Got a ZX9R streetfighter. Bit of a beast. A different kind of speed to my VTR1000 Firestorm which is more torque than top speed, but both fast enough to Easily lose my licence.

I regret selling it and I learned that you never get your money back lesson.... wasted over 5 grand on a Honda rvf400 , had a rcv moto gp rep tail unit painted in same factory colours nies.... had major horn for anything HRC( Honda racing club) she had a hrc airbox, hrc cdi, hrc carb kit, full stainless system, fireblade calipers, etc 72 bhp light and actually very low for a sport bike but makes it very stable taking a corner, lovely bike for the twistes, but most of all that lovely V4 sound,is a perfect bike to start racing on....

Mcn brought an rvf400 into my shop once that had sat in a shed for years and wanted it fixing. A mouse had eaten some poison and died in the airbox. The juices had seized the carbs. As hondas weren’t shit enough to work. Was lovely once sorted though. (For a Honda)

The fair , I’ve had a lot of bikes through the year and like some manufacturers for certain reasons but don’t have a favorite..... eg I was always a die hard sports bikes or nothing mentality ,see when I was growing up it was bike bikes bikes, two brothers, father...biker family and there thing was bmw bikes since the invention of a boxer twin as the father used to restore classic car and bikes and still biking at the age of 82 thank god , my old brother was selling his bike and I never seen the attraction or interest as it was a bmw r 1150 gs , bulky lump with low bhp, why would I ever want to buy ....the I took it for a spin , like a pendulum it swung it weight low and stable, mono shock front where each fork moves equally and firm, shaft drive has torque and presses the wheel down for traction which reduces when spin..... being honest I’ve owed it 10 year and have an r1, grom, and recently sold a ktm 690 smc and I’ve drifted the gs round round abouts and been able to wheelie on the pegs and still be able to do the Nuremberg ring and even better crash it hard and pick it up and drive on..... and I hate bmw .... but being fair my favorite manufacturer would be Yamaha just for build quality and reliability.... the original 4xv 98 r1... another bike I regret selling
