Just back from a 2 day 485 mile jaunt to Applecross and Gairloch. The weather yesterday was AMAZING (today not so much - got soaked!). Having toured Europe and the Alps several times I love doing that but in all honesty the roads and scenery were mindblowing up there - thoroughly recommend it if you haven't been.

We've done both alps and Applecross. The hillocks of Scotland are nice but in no way as stunning as the grand mountains and passes of the incredible Alps, in our opinion, no comparison.

Done the alps too, but prefer Scotland, is more rugged and wild. Alps are beautiful and the roads lovely but lack the brutality of Scotland I think.

OK I'm not really comparing them as like for like but the combination of stunning roads and only a few hours from home make the highlands a winner for me! All we need is better weather - Friday was amazing - Saturday heading back was SHITE

Heading up there in August possibly.

Just back from Norfolk, shot down to Great Yarmouth for a couple of days then ran up to Whitley Bay before heading up A1 and back home

4 days and close to 1000 miles
