Dropped my bike.

Dropped my bike yesterday. Pulled over to the side of the road and extended the side stand and leant it over but road camber caused it to lean too far. It’s only my 03 plate Bandit 600 winter bike but I feel such a knob. Anyone else done similar? |

Oh god aye I'd say 90% of bikers have, I put the stand down once but not fully. Lent it over and the bloody thing sprung back up and it was beyond the point of return haha. |

Had a very embarrassing one.
Outrider at a massive cycle event
Pulled bike up at a gateway paddled in back in
Watching all the women ride past
Me acting cool dropping the bike on to side stand,
Side stand flicked up bike fell over crushing me up against a fence so couldn’t move
3 of the women stopped ran over and picked the bike 310kg off me,
With comments I was supposed to be looking out for them not them helping me  |

need to pass so I can jump onto a bigger bike"
I only passed my test last October. There’s sooooo many things we don’t learn when training that we only find out by accident once we get on bigger bikes. |

Dropped my precious Bonnie not even doing 5mph on driveway leaving work one afternoon bout several weeks ago, fog setting in so knew it might be a bit slippery and is slight downhill gradient too, didn't brake either! Bham! Damage to headlamp shell, brackets and exhaust scuff, Doh! lol Ironic that my 35 mile commute to work that morning from 6am, in total darkness and freezing fog throughout (and on roads resembling the Somme lol) was fine! |

not one for using a disc lock but at a race meeting in italy thought id put one on
forgot all about it...got ready ..mounted the bike..first gear selected and go !!!!!
altho a didnt...hit the deck and over a went
that was recent too and ive been biking for 35 years !!!  |

Sorry to hear that..Think the cosmetic damage hurts more than the damage to my wallet? lol And don't start me off about potholes! Hit a deep one turning out of a side street last year (hardly moving, honest!) dropped the bike and broke 3 ribs! East Sussex roads are officially the worst in the UK, so be warned guys if you're ever this way..the Highways Dept here should be charged with attempted manslaughter of bikers?! Sorry, rant over lol |

Dropped my Yamaha TDM the first time i went out on it, went to show to my mum who hated bikes and as i was pulling up outside her house I caught the kerb and dropped it, worst thing she was standing in the window watching me, not impressed at all lol |

Had a double whammy a couple of years ago, was turning my bike in my driveway and lost my balance, dropped it against my car. Wee bit damage to both. Had that horrible moment when i didn't want too look at the damage once i lifted it up |

Dropped my SV650 at the car park outside shopping centre. Was trying to take a turn slow speed to park it and just lost a balance. Most embarrassing was that 3 older ladies came over to check if I was alright. Such a shame |

I have down something similar. I had a brand new vespa and it was ticking over whilst I was showing it to my mate. I knocked walked past the handle bars and nudged the g
ear handle by mistake putting it in gear and it popped off the stand. Scrating my metallic side panels. Gutted ?? |

I was cleaning mine and lubing the chain from the back when I stumbled forward and pushed it of the centre stand, what a prick! I now have a bent front brake lever, cracked front mudguard and some nasty scratches by the pillion handle  |

Don't forget to book some additional training after you get the licence. Big bikes do everything faster and you need to respond faster, or you'll arrive at an accident much quicker than you intended! |

Good advice Judith, and one the dvla tester said at the end of my test. I’m hooked on YouTube and MCrider, and Roadcraft is my permanent bed time reading and once the weather picks up I’ll be taking a few extra lessons. |

We've all done it.
My last was right in the middle of a very busy junction. George's Cross in Glasgow.
Pull into the middle of the junction, waiting to turn right. Stopped right on a wet manhole cover, slipped and ended up spilled across the opposite carriageway. |

Went to put my blade on the rear paddock stand and just as I pushed down slipped of the bobbin fell into the wall and on its side smashed the mirror off, screen and side fairing

Had a flat battery on my tdm850 so bump started it on left hand side and it stalled and fell to the right hand side throwing me over the top of the bike!!
Luckily it has crash bars.. 
Girl friend was watching at the time!!! |

I got into a really bad habit in my late teens of setting of as cool as you like from the curb before realising I had left the steering luck on. Did it about 5 times before I learnt grrrrrrr |

I've got one off those bright colored curly, expandable cords on mine. I've put a broken off length of junior hacksaw blade on the handlebar end which I slide into the ignition key slot so that I can't start my bike without removing it - works as a great reminder to remove the disc lock. |

I was in a petrol station and put the stand down .. just not far enough .. got off the bike and it tipped over trapping my leg .. it was a fazer 600 and i couldn’t get any purchase to lift took me ages to get it up .. I was pishing myself laughing after as I felt such a knob lol |

Yep, dropped mine once. Was parking up, been riding all day so tired and my brain just left me.
Felt like a tit but no damage done apart from a minor scuff on the exhaust.
As someone else says pretty much everyone has done it.. |

It's all part of the process nothing to be ashamed of.
We have a guy in our group in his late 60s who has a BMW GTS and be has said it's far to heavy for him to lift so if it goes down he will just walk away.
Christ knows how these Electra Glide and Goldwing owners do it if one of them goes for a lye down.
Crash bungs or mushrooms work well or for the tight arsed bikers among you roller skate wheels.

Dropped loads over the years , occupational hazard im afraid .. One i clearly remember though was an almost drop of a Ducati 906 Paso .. fully faired rarity ( anyone remember them ) Doing a U Turn on a Saturday morning on a test ride and got caught out by the extremely tight steering lock .. The streets were pretty deserted and i was hanging on to it inches from the ground all the weight on my right leg and almost crying in my helmet " No no no , not with all this paintwork ! " Then as if by magic it all went light and picked itself up ! Two young lads passing by had got hold of the grab rail and picked it up !! .. Boy did i thank them . They must have thought i was mad the way i shook their hands and almost hugged them |

Out today on my 6 day old Bonnie T120, going slowly along a back lane and pulled over to let a horse and cart come past the opposite direction (yes, really) and got it completely sideways on the muck (for want of a better descition) in the middle of the lane. Luckily I managed to hold it. Man would I have been annoyed if I had damaged my brand new pride and joy! |

Took 3 of us to get her up. Jenny was trapped underneath
