Anyone been to Acorns? We're thinking about visiting next week - maybe Wednesday Thursday or longer. What's it like?

Literally came home from there yesterday. The facilities are lovely but the staff are rude and seem to treat everyone (bar a few in the in crowd) with contempt and suspicion. Which is most annoying when you are there for a normal family oriented stay and doing nothing wrong like everyone else. There's rules posted up everywhere in very impolite wording. Its very authoritarian and regimented. You always feel like your being watched by the management. CCTV in a lot of places and I'm sure the owner of the place tried to follow us from the bar as we went for a late night walk to look at the stars. The thing that got me the most was the way they talk to be people like dirt if the have a trivial bullshit complaint I found most disgusting. We are guests (and decent respectful ones at that), not scum of the other. Basically if your face don't fit it makes for a very uncomfortable experience that despite the lovely facilities your can't relax in.

We thought at first it was just us. But then talking to other couples (first timers and ones who've been coming for years) they notice and feel the same. Apparently it wasnt always this way. Personally we go to relax and unwind, not to be treated rudely, watched and looked down on. So despite great location and facilities we probably wouldn’t go again. Maybe stick to beautiful sites Tything Barn or Lakeside.

Having said that the grounds and facilities are nice if you can overlook the sense of big brother, overbearing regulation and poor attitudes. And plenty of the guests are lovely. But if you do go (based of tips we had before hand and by the nature of the owners) turn your profile to private, remove the profile photo and don't use Fab down there. Because we were told (and now totally belive is plausible) the owners regularly check fab to ensure no undesirables are on camp.

Totally agree with the above. Imagine how much they looked down on people who had a Geordie accent !

Wow. Great feedback! Many thanks for the heads-up, we don't think we'll be visiting now - take our business elsewhere!

Had the same experience as both of the above, except i was a single naturist guy with a northern accent, treated badly as a paying guest. Lived in devon for 17 yrs too, counts for nothing unless your face fits, mine didnt

Bridlington.

"Maybe stick to beautiful sites like Tything barn or Lakeside"...

You will find it very similar at Lakeside if the owner suspects that you are swingers.

We visited Acorns a good few years ago and found it the same, owners seemed as it was beneath them to actually talk to you during the day time, they used to come into the cow shed in the evening while people were having a drink and try and socialise with you as if you were the best of pals. And as far as the honesty box goes that was a laugh, cctv camera above it watching everything you do. Yes the owners do check fab on a regular basis so be careful if you're going along, we will definitely not be back, as will some of our friends.

So the owners don't like swingers or anything about the lifestyle yet they have their own secret profile on here to check up if anyone on fans is going or in the area on who's near, though this is not the first time I've heard of this happening.
