Now Kiss isn't running there are no clubs to play in .Such a shame I think the South is turning into a dead zone for all sorts of reasons .Maybe its because we are getting more conservite with a big C .The councils are so backwards ,our local paper the Echo makes a front page of a sports club closing yet went out of it's way to high light and help shut kiss down .What a strange place Southampton is ,come back the 70s when there was a bit of life in town . |

Kiss were architects of their own downfall. As they were with jct 2. No doubt they'll reopen elsewhere, ignore licensing and/or planning regulations again until they get closed down again. And while doing so reduce even further the likelihood of somewhere else opening. |

There is a definite lack of venues in Hampshire which is a shame considering it's such a big county with some sizeable cities.
We take the hour-long journey to get to AbFabs because of the lack of clubs in the area. It's totally worth it - great venue - but the fact it isn't particularly local is the biggest downside.
Seems most of the fun takes place North of the Watford Gap |

If things were done the proper way right from the start then it wouldn't keep getting shut down..
Swingers Junction as it was back in the day before it became junction 2'was good for years. Then iit was sold on and then it went rapidly down hill. |

Strange how many didn't like Kiss yet didn't go there .As for doing things the right way .Did you know they kept on about needing a sex license .I tried to get one at the post office but they don't do them .Also if you had heard what was said, well its nice to know that we swingers and tvs are so loved by the planing commitee .It was almost like going back in Victorian times .I didn't know you could talk to people that way indeed what was said about TVs and crossdressers you could almost be arrested for . |

Kiss were, I believe, licensed as a bed and breakfast. And operating in a residential area.
What part of that was ever going to end well?
And no, I have never been there, for all I know it could have been an awesome club and I haven't said otherwise. But I will stand by my comments regarding those that were responsible for it. |

You got it wrong he tried to get a license as a hotel and did everything the council wanted and more . He tried to get a change of use license and went through quite a few hoops to do what the council wanted . As for it being residential well the place was a home for old people with dementia and other problems . Across the road was a builders merchant so yes I guess it was residential . The only reason it shut was The local rag and the council getting worried . Now they have a building nobody wants and can pull down . Should be fun when it gets turned into a nice drug den . The locals will love that and what will the council and local rag do then ,give them a grant I expect |

We are looking for managers/hosts and plan on a lodge in the south coast soon, it's interesting to see the urban myths that surround what is required.... You do NOT need a licence for swinging, in the same way a travel lodge doesn't . Swinging is not a licences activity, it's about understanding the planning and licence rules, it really isn't an issue if you follow the basic, as we begin opening new venues this will all be sorted for our "franchisees" xxxx any questions please ask as I chaired both licence and planning committees at local government level x |

I love the fact that people think they know what licences we need.
I opened Kiss and was planning it to be a Hotel for alternative lifestyles. We went though all the right procedures but end of day council would not allow it. I guess all hotels in southampton dont allow sex lol.
The stuff you read in the local papers is crap if you believe it then you just as stupid as them, The papers need stories to sell that all it is stories.
JCT2 was only running for 3 years but the court case was on going for 6 years to do with swinging junction just papers never knew.
It very hard to find a venue but end of day i take all the comment on board that matter and are taking sense.
No licence is required you do need to change use of venue for council tax reason and thats when you get a problem cause down south they will not let you change it to that.
have a great xmas all

"Martin could you not have asked council why they allow the sauna for men in east street then. Surely equal opportunity if your being closed down why are they not also ?"
The sauna in east street is in business premises and a legal business...they are not operating in the local neighbourhood from an old house with no council permission |

It wasn't an old house but a former hotel then care home. Licences weren't in place although I don't profess to know which ones were needed but not granted. |

The south just can't handle the thought of a Swingers club .So strange because in Southampton we have sex shops next door to s chip shop .A shop that once was a sweet shop and bakers turned in to a sex shop and massage place ,Now that is on a school run and that opened with no problem .The south is so strange ,got jobs ,money yet that little england thing going on .Can't handle the 21st century .It would be fun if someone could get something past the junta sorry the council oh and the peoples champion of a paper, The Echo |

Not trying to be critical because I totally agree the council and echo are being ridiculous but hopefully next time the correct procedures will be followed.
Find a suitable venue on an industrial estate or in country then get planning and permits for a sauna spa establishment.
Opening without permission just after having the last place closed for not having permission was never going to have a happy ending. What it's done is given the echo a great story for all the curtain twitchers and dull people to get into a moral outrage about.

I would have loved to have been behind you in the post office as you strolled up to the counter to ask for a sex licence lol |
