I'd say either club has got its pluses and minuses. VA- if the weather is nice, you normally get access to the outside area, but it's open play only club. Penthouse- a mix of different play areas, no outdoor space apart from smokers area. It's also a big club, so it may feel like there aren't that many people there.
I think both VA and Penthouse have their mid-week events once a month, and a single man, you have to be a member, and booked/have a ticket to attend the mid-week event.
As another option, there is Jaydees not that much further north. They have their Thursday lunch time events. I think originally it was going to be 3rd and 4th Thursday of the month, but they decided to open this coming Thursday, too.
And there is also Ignite (former Kestrels) near Heathrow that's open most days during the week. |

Attended VA a few times on a wednesday afternoon with FWB's, always had a fun time, well attended with friendly people, although as a couple it is different to being a single guy.
Both clubs are very plush and classy. As mentioned VA is an open play area so for a first timer, may or may not be a bit daunting.
Not been to Penthouse during the day only evenings.
Tend to go to Ignite to chill, swim and play
