New to the club scene, been to Xstasia for cirque as my first ever event, really enjoyed it.

Just looking for general opinions and how people's experience was, especially if you were new there.

Planning on going this week or next so don't be afraid to DM

Every club is different and what everyone is looking for is different, I would always recommend people make their own minds up. I would also not make an opinion on just a single visit.

Hopefully like most clubs the Attic is a friendly club and definitely worth a visit.

I would advise reading the website regarding attire and footwear, as its not a compulsory dress down club.

Also its a BYOB club (you buy soft drinks) and cash only.

Thanks for your reply! I've delved deep into the website so hopefully I understand everything I need to know upon visiting, but you're so right. I'm willing to give it a few visits at the very least 😁

I was playing in the cinema room. After a while I opened my eyes and was suprised to see we were surrounded by fully dressed men in anoraks with the hoods up.

It's a great club with 20+ playrooms, we've found the people and staff to be friendlier than many other clubs. If you're not experienced in clubs be aware you'll need to be chatty and say hello to people, you're unlikely to be approached. Like most clubs there's no air conditioning, so in the hottest weather it's warm inside.

That is the downside to not have a dress down rule. We love The Attic but have experienced similar. We strongly suspect all the local taxi drivers drop in later in the evening.

It would be great if the club could have a dress down rule at least once a month.

Nice club, good size with plenty of rooms and nice staff but we didn't like that you didn't have to dress down. We get to a point in the night where we go dress down and go to the play areas and it just felt weird that everyone in the cinema room was dressed. Wasn't a sexy atmosphere but go and find out for yourself.

The Attic has a no entry time for single males after 11pm. So there wouldn't have been a flood of single men entering after 12

Also and this isnt an excuse but the cinema is an open play room and as such you are going to be watched. I totally agree that people shouldnt surround you while you are playing, but I find if you tell them to back off or you will stop usually gets them to back off.

Unfortunately some couple/ladies like to be surrounded by men so its hard to police it.

I fully expect voyeurs in a cinema room. It was my choice to play there rather than a private room. I have been to lots of different clubs but it is the only time I have ever seen fully clothed men with hoods up.

I dont believe that the men had their hoods up as hoodies and sportswear are not allowed in the evenings and coat are also asked to be taken off upon entry.

Could I just ask was this at the old attic site or the new one?

Saturday party nights are really busy, Saturday club nights, busy but less so. Fridays are much quieter, but usually still plenty of fun to be had. I’m there pretty much every week on either Friday or Saturday night And I’ve never seen groups of men surrounding people with hoods up, ever. Doesn’t happen.

It’s a great safe place. Staff very quickly throw out anyone misbehaving, but that’s not an every night occurrence. Regulars are friendly and will look out for newcomers.

It’s not a brothel, no guarantees. As someone else said, smile at people, talk to them, be clean and smell good, you have a chance, especially when people get to know you.

Just walk around following people waiting for a woman to be overcome by your masculinity and sex appeal, then don’t hold your breath.

Try it for yourself. I’d recommend a Saturday non party night or a Friday night before a Saturday club night as a good first visiting time.

Well I have been attending the old and new club as a customer and a staff member for 20 years now.

I have to say alot of replies and forum posts put me off going to other clubs !!! I'd rather be at the attic with a friendly group of down to earth people.

I've never been anywhere else nor intend on going, as a plus size person I am not comfortable dressing down fully and when I am.socialising with the possibility of play, far prefer to be talking to someone smartly dressed than in a towel !!!!

With the comment the quality of men, I find that a bit degrading, we are a club that's open to all ages, sizes, sexes and genres, why other than being clean and correctly presented, should we vet "men", and the "quality".

It's simple you choose who to talk to, who to play with, be polite regardless of your preferences.

Also every night is different too, with different people.

One of the best clubs in my opinion. Plenty of rooms, private or public and a lot of variety.

Staff are also brilliant and will keep an eye on things, a quiet word if you feel uncomfortable about something or if you want them to keep an eye on someone and they will.

I’ve been to Chameleons a few times with my partner and we love it there, but quite fancied trying somewhere else for a change and the Attic is about the same travelling time to get to.

Are they comparable?

Also, I’ve seen a picture of a ‘dogging’ car at the Attic - is that still there?

Love attending The Attic. Always felt safe there. Excellent staff, clean club, what more could I ask for?

Their new hot tub addition is awesome. But that's not the only awesome thing they have in the club, so many different rooms and plenty of choice for everyone to explore.

Hiya OP

I think the fairest answer is that The Attic, like every club, won’t be everyone’s perfect fit, and that’s completely okay. Every club has its own atmosphere, rules, layout and crowd, so the best advice is always to visit with an open mind and make your own judgement.

What I will say, though, is that The Attic has always tried to be more than just a club. It is an inclusive space, a safe space, and somewhere people from all walks of life can come and feel welcomed, respected and accepted. That is not just something we say because it sounds good, we have been walking the walk for over 20 years.

We are proud of the community that has grown around The Attic. People of different ages, sizes, backgrounds, identities, confidence levels and experience levels come through our doors, and everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We are about building people up, not tearing people down. Nobody should feel judged for being new, nervous, dressed down, not dressed down, confident, quiet, outgoing or simply finding their feet.

On the dress down point, The Attic is not a compulsory dress-down club, and that is intentional. Some people feel comfortable dressing down straight away, while others need time. Some people come mainly to socialise, watch the atmosphere, chat, or ease themselves into the scene. That choice matters. However, that does not mean standards disappear. We still expect people to be clean, smart, respectful, aware of personal space and mindful of how they come across to others.

There is a big difference between being present in an open area and making people feel uncomfortable. Respectful watching is not the same as crowding, hovering, following or making anyone feel uneasy. Our rules are clear: no means no, no touching without permission, no harassment, no following, no phones, and respect people’s space at all times.

For single guys, the advice is simple: come with the right attitude. Be clean, smart, friendly, relaxed and respectful. Don’t arrive with expectations, don’t treat anyone like they owe you attention, and accept “no” gracefully. The people who do well in clubs are usually the ones who understand that good manners, patience and social awareness matter far more than anything else.

We are also very aware of who is entering and leaving the club, and at what times. Staff are present, observant and approachable. If someone’s behaviour is off, if someone feels uncomfortable, or if something does not feel right, we want to know. We would always rather someone speak to us at the time so we can deal with it properly, rather than have them leave feeling unheard.

Are we perfect? No. We are human, and sometimes we will make mistakes. But when we do, we listen, we learn, and we improve. Feedback matters to us because the safety, comfort and enjoyment of our guests matter to us.

For newbies, The Attic can be a great place to start because you will get a welcome, a tour, and the rules explained. Nobody has to play, nobody has to dress down, and nobody is expected to do anything they are not comfortable with. You can chat, explore, ask questions, take your time and enjoy the evening at your own pace.

It is also worth remembering that different nights have different vibes. A Friday, a Saturday party night, a cinema event, Greedy Girls, TV & Admirers, Kink Night or a standard club night can all feel very different depending on the crowd and the event. So if one night is not quite your thing, another one might be.

The Attic has been here for over 20 years because people have found friendship, confidence, acceptance, fun and community within its walls. We are proud of that. We will always defend the values of consent, respect, inclusion and safety, not just in words, but in how we try to run the club every single night.

So come along with an open mind, follow the rules, respect the people around you, and see if the place feels right for you. For many people, The Attic is not just a club, it is a welcoming, down to earth, inclusive community.

I have been to Attic many times - No matter your race, gender, or age, everyone should speak English properly. This is not just for your own safety — it protects others too.

When someone tries to gain or give consent but one can’t understand or weave proper sentences, problems happen. How can you approach a person or couple if you can’t form clear sentences?

Being Asian (Indian) I’ve seen communication gaps create very uncomfortable situations — especially in dark rooms and low-light areas where you can’t see who is touching whom.

Good English fluency helps everyone stay safe and respected.

Many clubs, check ID on membership but do NOT keep any photo ID record, so if someone does cause an issue, how are these people identified, only police have the power to search, so if they don't hand over their membership card/number, still no real way of identifying them.

So 200-300 in a club all have shown their card, which one caused the issue? The bald white male, the other bald white male or the other other bald white male. Member 1045, 1824 or 0865? Identification without a record of photo ID, doesn't necessarily create a safer environment.

Some clubs use it to generate extra revenue or tick relevant boxes.

Who's to say the person who signed up for the membership is the one using the membership card to gain entry?

The one who other members will have reported i would think. If someone is using someone else's card there's still a paper trail. Not for me to explain any clubs security protocols I just know I prefer clubs that require membership and id.

I think it is reckless for Attic not to even try. It might not prevent all incidents, but deter some. A cash only entrance system suggests putting other interests ahead of safety. It is not that difficult to set up a card payment system and require attendees to at least pay for entrance on a card. It allows a level of checks, including age verification. It is all fun and games until something goes wrong.

I disagree, some people just don’t trust having all their details on a clubs system, a system that can be hacked etc.. it ensures a level of anonymity and discretion.

It’s not reckless at all. They have good CCTV, attentive staff and a zero tolerance policy.

I think it is okay to sacrifice a level of anonymity in the interest of the safety of the community. Almost all other clubs and their attendees accept the risk of systems being hacked/compromised balanced against safety. In my opinion, the Attic has raced to the bottom on this one. I know lots of others like the edginess of it, but not for me.

I completely understand where you’re coming from, and I appreciate why safety and accountability matter so much.

Respectfully, though, I think there may be an assumption that we don’t have checks, balances, and safeguarding measures in place to reduce the chances of things like this happening. Like any club, we do take these responsibilities seriously.

Different venues may choose different ways of managing situations, but that doesn’t make one approach less valid than another. Having someone’s details written on a list, for example, doesn’t necessarily stop an incident from happening — it mainly means people can be traced afterwards. We also have systems in place that allow us to identify, manage, and respond to concerns appropriately.

Having a very boring job of working in Data Protection I do question why some clubs will keep pictures of driving licenses / passports as it's not something I am comfortable with.

Personally I have never felt unsafe at the attic, other clubs like Steel Cliffe do not have membership either so the attic aren't alone in this.

I have visited clubs with membership but do think what are you doing with my data, will you remove it as I don't want the cross over from this life to vanilla life.

With regard to safety the attic has the highest number of staff I've seen walking around and checking, go a few times and you will recognise them but they are never far away.

Playing in the cinema can be a little uncomfortable when the groups of single men gather but plenty of other places to play including the couples only space if you want open play.

We agree with this, the club itself is brilliant but most of the single guys leave a lot to be desired. A guy we know who is a prolific club goer, both here and abroad, says the club has a poor reputation on the circuit for being full of Asian taxi drivers. We know as far as single men are concerned it's definitely quantity over quality, when we visited a good few smelt like they'd just finished a full shift at a takeaway. Such a shame because as we said it's a great club.

Do you see Japs or Chinese there? Asian is the word that is hugely misused - tell me if you see bad actors Indian, Japanese and Chinese folks in the club. Otherwise please call them out based on their country of origin - if they all were born here and raised here - then call them British. This racial profiling has really destroyed image of decent Indians.

This would also help narrow down and understand who is who in your country, helping in eliminating the racial profiling based on the facial features. Indians, Burmese, Sri Lankans, Nepalese, Bhutanese don’t share the same culture or cultural values of other similar demographics countries in Asia.
