Couples verification review

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I the best interest of www.fabswingers.com, existing members and new to the site I believe it would be a very good idea that couples accounts need to be regularly verified.

We have come across "couples" that have split up and only 1 half is still using the account.

I don't think that any genuine couple will object to submitting a new couples photo to be verified every say 6 months.

this shows that the site is genuinely concerned about having misleading accounts. For existi_g couples it instils confidence that they are speaking to genuine people and is a great selling point for the site for new couples that they are constantly checking to ensure the safety of its members.

I have now spoken to a lot of couples that believe there are more misleading accounts than there are genuine.

Not many will agree to your terms i'm afraid.

As an example. This profile isn't photo verified. But you can be assured we are a genuine couple.

We have two couples accounts so we can access chat together and speak on our separate accounts.

We are both very well known in chat.

The site provides you with the tools to make it how you want it to be. And your biggest tool is your own common sense.

I'm not asking people to display pictures. just for the site to verify them. Why would this be an issue to a genuine couple.

Verified images are not displayed. its just so the site can monitor and ensure the safety of its members.

We have tried 4 times to get photo verified but they keep getting rejected for unknown reasons yet we have been verified by people we have met and hare slowly adding more photos every few weeks. Adding another step that can fail is unnecessary

It’s not unnecessary. The point of having your photo verified is to prove it’s a couples profile. That’s why you have to do it! I’m sorry to say that if you failed 4 times there must be something wrong with your images.

However as couple can inevitably split up I believe it’s important for the site to ensure their members are safe and members are genuine They need to conduct regular photo verifications for couples.

It’s not hard to take a photo with your user name and web site written on a piece of paper! Then to confirm it’s a recent image on the new photos add the date in which you are submitting it.

If you believe a couples profile is wrongly classified (and have evidence of that) report it to admin via the report button on the profile and let them sort it

We wouldn't mind having to do this but we also think people shouldn't get the full use of the site until they photo verify.

I think any person pretending to be a couple would find it difficult to get a photo with their “other half” if they weren’t a couple. With an image dated the day they uploaded it!

Any genuine couple, who expects full site access, wouldn’t mind doing it because it would help re-enforce trust that the site is doing all it can to ensure genuine accounts.

They ask for a photo to be verified to begin with. In which most couples are happy to do. So why not continue with this and ensure a couples account is still being accessed by a couple?

"If you believe a couples profile is wrongly classified (and have evidence of that) report it to admin via the report button on the profile and let them sort it "

Shouldn’t need to. The site requests photos to be verified to ensure authenticity! The site is aware that some accounts are being accessed incorrectly however they don’t have the man power to manually check each account.

By requesting an updated picture every 6 months would support the fact that the site is genuinely concerned about Mis-leading accounts and would assist in narrowing down false accounts as the only “couple” accounts not submitting images would be people unable to continue with their out of date account .

The site requests them anyway so I’m unsure why this would be an issue to any genuine couple who wants full access!

I take it you think the only “genuine” couples are the ones who live together? I have a couple profile with my FWB, but as we don’t live together we can’t see each other at the moment so can’t get photo verified. Does that mean we can’t have a couple profile, or that we’re fakes?

I'm interested in why you believe you shouldn't need to report profiles you think are singles masquerading as couples.

"It’s not unnecessary. The point of having your photo verified is to prove it’s a couples profile. That’s why you have to do it!"

But you don't have to at all.

There is no part of this site where you have to do anything:

Don't want to verify - fine

Don't want to add pictures - fine

Don't want to be a site supporter - also fine

There are added bonuses to doing all of those things but you do not have to do any of them.

With the regard of fake or changed couple status, this site has a bigger problem of escorts, men pretending to be single women and generally abusive single men that they can't effectively deal with that adding another layer of something that will be ignored or manipulated is a bad idea.

Well said

It means very little in the end

A range of good veris from the well verified that shows people are real, reliable and actually okay is worth far more than any difficult to use photo gimmick.

This would kinda screw me over a bit but through no fault of my own.

The couples profile was chosen for me by admin due to someone reporting me for being a couple and not a single female.

I really can't be arsed to fight to correct it.

Guess I would be booted off due to someone else trying to run my profile?

Personally, i think we would find that tedious and unnecessary.

I imagine that this would create quite a time consuming task for admin.

Sorry, I may be missing something but are you saying you’re a single woman because you clearly state “Read the profile before contacting us” and there’s a description of the male. Apologies if I’ve got it wrong.

I'm married, used to be a couples profile but play separately now. Did ask for this profile to be turned into a single female profile which was done but was changed back even though I'm still a female who plays alone.

Got grief from others for having read my profile attached to a couples profile as everyone assumed I was male.

I just leave it alone now and let the mods control it as they obviously know me and my circumstance better than I do.

But the point is, I wouldn't get verified as a couple if I had to pv every 6 months unless I got my husband to have his photo taken for my profile. It should be a single females profile

You can access the same account at the same time, you don't need 2 accounts on Fab as a couple

You can have 2 single accounts and a couples account if you play separate only for single accounts.

I hate it when single females use a single account to gain interest and say they only play with another friend

I'm familiar with both of this couples separate accounts in the chat rooms. They both use an account each as they want to appear separately in the chat which they can't do when only using one account. Also, some couples don't live together so to talk to each other on cam and to others at the same time this requires 2 separate accounts. Hope this clarifies things for you?

Then these accounts need to be reported to admin under the wrong sex option so admin can take a look.

We need 2 couple accounts as both of us cant use the 1 profile to be in chat at the same time.

Sooooo we have 2 accounts, both verified etc. We can then both go into chat and you will find a few people from the chat rooms do this....Plus both of us have our own group of people we talk to... if one is in general the other may be floating around in Midlands etc....

As for the single female accounts they need reporting... I wont have a single female one as i only meet with fella around so i don't need a single female one, i have this couple account for who ever wants to contact me as he has his for who ever wants to contact him. Just the way some couples work.... Be boring if we were all the same....

Just arrange a social meet and if they bail with some really lame excuse, then chances are they’re not the real deal and no harm done. Remember, you may think they’re fake and the others may think the same of you. If in any doubt of sharing compromising photos and wishing to remain discreet, do NOT share any intimate photos with your faces in.

You are right about the problem though. There are so many profiles where the couple has obviously split (old photos, no new photos for several years) but the guy still pretends the female is present.

My here are ways to call them out but you are correct. It’s a loophole that hasn’t been closed.

An easy way for you to identify some genuine local (ish!) couples is if they’ve got veris from attending any of the Bristol Socials - a fair few people attend from Cardiff too and there are around 300 people at each one.

A similar point could be made to single female accounts if not photo verified within 7 days the account gets deleted.

We had a meet planned with a couple when we were here before, they had Bristol social verifications but that didn't mean they were still a couple as the last one was from years ago.

It then turned out that when we went to the Bristol social and asked people about them, we were told that they split years ago and it is now just the husband pretending that they are still together.

Nothing on fab is failsafe but everyone has their own ways of working out which profiles may not be what or who they say they are.

We don't have a problem with updating our pic verification anytime we needed to, it's really simple and this method of rechecking a profile would definitely work.

Not sure what your point is really, that’s the same as anyone you might communicate with on Fab.

The fact people are verified at a well known social means they are less likely to be fake - but it doesn’t mean their situation can’t have changed, or they’re flakey, or a million other things.

Everyone who has experience of Fab knows this.

The fact remains though it’s far easier to fake pics for verifications than to fake meet veris - but even those can be faked, people here give each other fake meet veris all the time, as anyone who has spent any time on Fab will have observed.

It’s all moot anyway - the system isn’t going to change.

Likewise we're an engaged couple who live some distance apart. Because we are both single parents it means we can't live together at moment for various reasons. Sometimes it can be a couple of weeks before we see each other. Granted some say taking and posting a new pic is not big deal. Its not when you live together full time and have loads of time together. But no offence FAB isn't our be all and end all. The first priority after we've been apart for some time is not 'oh let's make and post a new verification photo'. And what about all the other long distance couples like those who one half works contracts abroad or are in the Forces for example? To be honest its another hassle that would make FAB less user friendly and enjoyable for us. This system is not fool proof by any means and some people are always so determined to cheat the system. So as always with FAB your best bet is to use your gut instincts and common sense.

There are likely many reasons. Speaking for ourselves, we took a break from meeting for work reasons, with the intention to meet again when time allowed. We didn’t hide our profile during that time, why would we? We wanted to keep in touch with people and make new contacts for when we had more time. Unfortunately global events have put a spanner in that for now, but there you go.

It’s no more suspicious than people who appear verified but hide both their veris and the verification summary, is it? In fact, much less so.

As we joined during lockdown verifications for social meets aren't allowed to be shown unless it was via webcam so after having various socially distanced meets now we understand that we can only verify once the site allows us to.

As our published verification is from a webcam social we don't particularly want to show it as for us chatting via webcam isn't for us, we much prefer meeting in person for drinks in an acceptable way to make it safe.

So considering we have only been back on fab for a relatively short time we have still managed to meet people in person but can't verify each other for the reason that it's not a webcam social.

When it is possible to add real time meet veris again we will show them on our profile happily

Just going to point out as a few have said that the unverified filter will solve the OP's problem.

Not exactly correct we have had mail from verified profiles that where a couple but now only one is using it as they have separated, equally we have had mail from single female profiles that are being used as a couple?

It's not particularly tricky to open a new profile that fits correctly (or keep your old one) or to get photo verified as only takes a few minutes so it's not exactly a hardship

I live 75 miles from my friend.

We haven't seen each other since the beginning of February.

Doing a photo verification would be extremely hard for us.

OP this is a great idea. We had to be photo verified when we opened this couples profile. We have both been on fab separately in the past as singles and other couples accounts with previous partners. We are pretty good at spotting the fakes. However like someone else mentioned it's hard to know the couples accounts that are no longer a couple but a single masquerading as a couple. We would always report these accounts as it spoils it for the genuine people on here.

"Just how easy is it to fake a couples veri, we chat with a few, but sure most are single men. It's really annoying..

An easy way for you to identify some genuine local (ish!) couples is if they’ve got veris from attending any of the Bristol Socials - a fair few people attend from Cardiff too and there are around 300 people at each one.

A lot can change in 4 years though can't it, we would only go by the Bristol social veris from more recent times.

A lot can change in a week - why is four years significant?

Just saying that a profile with no meets for 2 years plus always makes us wonder why meets have stopped but the profile is running as normal and never hidden. "

Perhaps they stopped meeting because of having children, other family commitments and just want to stay in touch with friends while using forums, chat etc? I'm currently using my profile in this way. I don't feel the need to hide it just because I'm not meeting.

Just so you know there is 2 sides to every story I am part of a couple and wish to be as a single entity. There is no option on site to do so once you create a couple profile and I also have emailed my request weeks ago still no action despite me chasing the removal.

Yes there is, start a single profile. If you have been verified, ask them to reverify you on it. It's the quickest and easiest way.
