Other sites/apps have an auto delete my account if I don’t login for a selectable period of time

This could be due to the death of the account holder for instance and would prevent any potential future embarrassment to family

It would certainly de-clutter alot of the search results

Having an inactivity feature can also be a problem because people do have a life beyond and not glued to sites or apps which a user loses any features they have paid for

Depends on the time frame used. If someone hasn't logged on for over a year then it would be fair game for deletion to clean up server space

But if a user no longer wanted to use would delete regardless of them not using for any length of time as some people come back

Not true. If you search a specific profile that hasn't been on line for several months (I THINK it's 3 but I maybe wrong) it won't come up.

When doing a broader search they usually come up as to who has most recently been online so you'd surely just stop searching after a certain time frame?

The only thing I could really see this helping would be new users having name options

They could start again then. If it is clearly visible in the T's & C's that inactive accounts are deleted after 12 months then there can't be any complaints

The site could send out a warning email 1 to 3 months before the inactivity period is up so they could login to their account and keep it active thus stopping the auto deletion of their account.

On a similar note;

Is there a way to delete a thread by the OP let's say after 2 or 3 days? E.g. If I wanted to remove the whole thread...

I know individual comments by a member can be removed ( think it's 5 minutes before said comments stay in the thread)

Grateful for any help on this?

Only way to do that is to ask admin to remove it

If you search by name it can show people who last logged in over a year ago
