Is it time to put Fab behind a pay wall?

"A pay wall wouldn't stop abuse anyway, people can still be idiots whilst paying. Best thing one can do is report the abuse, get the abuser shut down."
It may stop some of the relentless fake profiles that appear over a weekend and then vanish.
Wouldn’t mind it being paid only if it significantly changes the experience.
Our main reason for filtering single guys is the majority of zero effort profiles.
Not knocking the genuine guys. |

If you're finding that profiles that haven't paid are being abusive filter them out of your searches. If you receive abuse from anyone report it
I personally don't think it's necessary to have to same kind of logging in process that a banking app does. What would it achieve? |

Personally I wouldn't have an issue with photo ID being necessary to set up a profile but others wouldn't be willing to do that.
But a paywall? No. The site has always been free to use if you don't want to upgrade which is pretty unique and a great thing.
People with money can abuse others. People with money can set up profiles for kicks rather than actual meets.
There are filters that help to block contact from new profiles, unverified and others. Plus the good old block button. |

Some of the worst abuse I have ever received on the adult Scene was from men on a site men pay but women don't. Forcing people to pay would likely increase abuse, because some will feel they are entitled to meets for paying.
Not sure how ID would work, I think it would put vast numbers of genuine non abusive people off joining.
I would suggest using filters to block non site supporters from messaging.
Is the online abuse you mention what you have received or what you perceive to be occurring in general?

blatatnly what happens is , you block a user , they just use another account of theres to still track you in the chat rooms or look at your profile and statuses etc.

We already pay for site membership to receive extra benefits. How about paying for a service that verifies your identity?
As previously mentioned, this is similar to how you verify your identity on a banking app.
That way, you know that the person is who they claim to be. |

Not many people are going to be willing to provide identifying documents on line to be stored however securely and pay for the privilege. I've never had to do this to access my banking app. I wouldn't do it to access fab. |

I genuinely don't think paying for Fab will help the site whatsoever, it may even close it through lack of subscriptions.
Look at it from a single guys point of view, just say the cock to pussy ratio is 100:1. I have a 1 in hundred chance of getting a meet and that's before I factor in the profiles who say no beards, you have to be 6', must send face pic with first message, must host at yours etc. My chances have just gone down significantly.
I would absolutely not pay for this 'opportunity' to meet someone. |

I would not pay to verify my identity on Fab. I have never paid to identify myself on my banking app.
I would leave Fab and use a different site I am on that's totally free for females...

In terms of pay wall nope... as i say the idiots also have money. Having or not having money doesnt dictate how a person is. Its about using common sense in yourself to sieve the wheat from the chaff  ....

Why do so many people say Fab is all about money? The evidence is right there that this simply isn't true.
There are costs involved in running a website and the 'site supporters' fee is really very low compared to other dating sites.
I'm the first to complain about the evils of capitalism (proper lefty, me), but £12 for three months seems closer to covering costs than the owners being "all about the money" |

Lots of people are already paying to not meet anyone. I'm sure there's many users who would happily pay for the privilege to send abusive messages.
At best the abuse would just turn into the kind of passive-aggressive needling you get from certain people in the forums. |

I'm not sure how you figure this. They don't make much from free members, just some commission on adverts. The quality would improve a lot of it was pay only and most users would happily pay more to deal with less crap. I used to run my own dating and adult sites. |

And that makes our opinion less valid ? At the moment paying does not give us anything more that we need, we have paid in the past and would definitely pay if that was the only way anyone could send messages / view full profile details.

I used to pay to use the websites of Fab's competitors and actually much preferred those. However, they couldn't compete with the behemoth that is Fab and the rest is history. By paying you automatically had a filter and you knew people approached things with more seriousness and commitment. Their chatrooms were actually fun too.
I wouldn't mind if they introduced a premium section here. I'd have no problem paying slightly more to be ignored by a classier tier of swingers instead |

No, I wouldn't use it if it was. You have the option to be a site supporter and to then only receive messages from other site supporters, blocking those that aren't.
I've used the site for many years and never had a problem. I think people need to do their due diligence properly, anything too good to be true, usually is. Think with your brain and not other parts of your body, or just not thinking at all. Signs are there, you just have to recognise them. |

There's a large number of things that could be done to make this site better, let's be honest, it's all a bit dated.
A paywall, perhaps, it's a difficult one, other sites do this and it works for them, however i wouldn't pay for Fab, beyond a relatively cheap gold/silver fee while it's in it's current state. |

OK, and if they put it behind a paywall tomorrow, what exactly are you expecting?
For a site you can use for free or upgrade for minimal cost it does the job. If you are wanting X Y Z premium features then I guess it won't happen.
I understand as part of being "free" it can attract certain individuals that many may not want to associate with.
The only option I feel may work, for some at least is when you join (or for those of us that are already members, it requires you to tick the boxes on next sign in) you tick what you want from here - eg all of those couples who strictly meet in clubs can all have their own "space", those who want private meets are all in one space, those who are brand new to swinging can all be in one space. Then you can only talk to those who are interested in the same stuff. At the moment there's tick boxes but if someone only wants to meet in a club for example, they aren't going to chat to Joe Bloggs who has never been to one before and doesn't want to go to one just because they've both ticked they enjoy filming.
I get it's ticking boxes and people lie all the time so it may not be a perfect solution, but it's the only thing I could think of that may solve some of the constant moaning on here. |

The broader choice of people is what gives the site its power. Block anyone who you're not interested in, including use of message filters. And report anyone who is abusive to Admin.
