Generic age range

Fab moderators/admin, isn't it about time that the generic age range 18 - 99 for meeting people is removed.

This is so obsolete, untrue and frustrating when it shows on a members profile.

Change this so that new members can only put in the age range of people that they are open to meeting up with and bring fab into the current century.

I agree. People just can't be bothered to change it when they join so better if they have to do it.

You are doing this with a range of 18 - 75, why are you using it?

Hi Sexy pineapples and thank you for your comment, it is much appreciated. Point taken on my lower age range and my age,I will adjust this.

My post about the generic age range 18-99 option is to remove it as it is outdated and members should only be able to put in a lower and upper age of members who they may be open to meeting up with.

I am very aware that members have this option in the "looking for" section of their profile, but give members only this option so fab is more current.

I have no issues with younger seeking older or vice versa i am just suggesting that the generic age range should be removed.

It works as a filter to alot, if they see the person hasnt bothered to set a realistic age range what else cant they be bothered to do?

I dont see the point in removing it what real change will it make?

I personally see the 18-99 as "ill fuck anyone willing to have me".

Yeah, which is a good filter

Maybe some people genuinely aren't bothered by age. The possibility of meeting a 99 year old is fairly remote.

It's worth remembering that just because someone's age range is broad doesn't mean they will want to meet everyone within that range

Indeed. And also that whilst they might only meet those within a narrower age range, they might still be open to messages from those who fall outwith that

I see it as people keeping their own options open on a wider scale as the saying goes you do you and let others do as they please

Am I missing something? It's just a default setting like the generic profile text when you set up. Just change it when you set your profile up?

Do people really need this level of spoon feeding?

I think an age filter isn't always relevant anyway. We are older (in our 60's). Guys on here might say have an upper age range. But when we go to clubs guys play with Mrs. They don't ask how old are you first!

It's a guide at best. If you put an upper (or lower range) and someone is a few years outside that it that a definite "no" sorry can't see/meet you?

As you say, an age range on a profile is a guideline only and that is why members do have the option of whether or not to receive messages from those outside their age range.

I don't see it as a guideline at all. For me it's a hard and fast rule because I won't meet anyone within 10 years of my kids ages.

I don't agree with removing the generic range though. I've no idea how it can be seen as outdated because as others have already said it's a great filter.

If I'd have set a specific age range I probably wouldn't have met anyone on here in the three years I've been on. And definitely wouldn't have had the amazing meets with people younger than my youngest child. All my meets have been with people in their 30s and has always been those who have messaged me first.

Not a guideline for us and many of our friends...it's pretty much a hard and fast rule for us with very few exceptions.

We respect others choices on age too..if we're outside of theirs we don't approach them either

Exactly, if taken further you could go on to have ranges and filters for literally thousands of features. Perhaps they could introduce one for cock length, eye colour and preference in Thomas Hardy novels etc?

Keep it.

Gives me a chuckle when blokes are after anyone aged 18-99 (desperate) and can’t accommodate (cos the Mrs wouldn’t be pleased)

Makes deleting and blocking easier
