Can you please add a message filter to stop people privately replying to forum posts
Seems everytime we post anything on the forum we get private messages from a post or response
Add a filter so we can decide if we want private replies |

If you have message filters set for gender and age, then people can't reply to forum posts privately.
They get the same message advising them of this if they try.
Can you not use those? 🤷♂️ |

But then that interferes with normal chats away from the forums |

Yes.
But let's say there was a filter to stop messages from forum posts.
What's to stop someone just clicking on your profile and sending a message that way? 🤷♂️ |

I had a forum post today and had some not very nice private replies (all reported before anyone says)
If there was a way to have set up a post as forum replies only, no private replies, then with hindsight, I would have should that option have been available
It would be a good improvement if fab takes on the suggestion |

Hiya
As mentioned above your comment by the mod could it still have been done if they sent you a message via your profile. That's the tricky part can it be avoided or not |

Agreed they could but good software development includes behavioural research of the user base to understand how people interact with a system
Users on fab (some not all) dont go clicking and reading. Hence why you see so many people posting “read the profile before messaging” people don’t, they just message anyway
With that behaviour in mind, if you allow a user creating a post to have a choice whether the post is set up with or without a reply privately option then it would help some but not all.
Some people will still click and get to the point to message you anyway. But the ones who don’t have a private option and probably don’t read or click anything more than pics, won’t go the extra mile.
There’s never a single solution for anything in life or a one size fits all. But if there’s a small improvement that users could benefit from then why not implement. It’s likely to be such a small change that would improve a lot of experience for users |
