Multiple Interests?

Good morning everyone,

Firstly please accept my apologies if this topic has been raised before; a quick browse didn't reveal any prior posts - so here we go!

Speaking personally, I would find it most useful if I could use the browse function whilst highlighting multiple activities under the "interested in" drop down list.

Is this possible?

I'd appreciate everyone's views on this.

Good suggestion.

My view is that it could hinder as much as it helps. If a search result was determined only by those that had all the interests you ticked listed it might produce less results. If the results included anyone that had ticked any one of them then obviously that would be more useful.

And as always, just because someone expresses an interest in something it doesn't mean they'll be up for it with anyone and everyone.

It could be useful, but equally it could mean some you might be compatible with wouldn't show in a result. And some people don't tick things they're interested in because people assume they're looking those specific activities all the time.

Hi OP,

I hope I’ve understood this correctly - I think you can do this with an advanced search which you can then save so you can search the same parameters again ☺️ xx

You can only tick one interest at present using the advanced search function.

This site is not going to pay for added functions, just advise of list all your proclivities; simple and effective providing it’s read.

If you'd like to be able to search on mutually inclusive or exclusive options, then perhaps make it as a definite interest suggestion.

Some people do assume that if you've ticked something that you have a slight interest in, potentially only with those who you're fully compatible with, that you're definitely into it, almost like it's your life mission to have as much X or Y that you can get, whilst on earth. I occasionally get messages from the uncouth, demanding to know whether my interest list is upto date. Almost like it's a sales catalogue, or menu and a man just has to instruct you to provide some X, Y and lots of Z, etc, to fulfill them. Similarly to Obi's comment, some people restrict what they list, so others don't get carried away, etc. Search options here do need improvement and haven't been done for many years, as far as I recall.

Think we all have multiple interests depends on the mood on the day
