Lack of appropriate gender options.
Jump to: Newest in thread
Have a friend who wanted to join the site but she was instantly turned off the idea by the lack of more options on gender
Male, female or TV is really not enough
Why not include an option for trans people, enby etc?

I think most users do interpret the TS part as Transexual. I do. I have to agree the grouping there is rather clumsy.
I don't think it will change though as previously mentioned, this has been a bugbear for some time. |

Fab don't care about changing anything that's going to cost them money, we have been asking to separate us from CD/TVs for years to no avail.
They simply don't care about ACCURATE representation, they just want the money in their account 🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼 |

Ts is there as an option...surely it isn't hard to explain exactly how you prefer to be addressed in the title or other sections.
There are lots and lots of gender options, catering for every individual sometimes just isn't possible nor feasible.
I dont think it's a case of discrimination per se...just a case of the blandest options possible, then hope people will explain? |

I don't think that Fabswingers is trying to be "all things to all men" - sorry, poor choice of words given the topic, but you know what I mean.
I think that their "core audience" is couples, so the key question for them is "will this new feature attract more couples to the site, or will it dilute the focus?".
It's just like you wouldn't expect a motorbike owners site to provide support for bicycle owners. I'd assume that there are other sites that provide much better support for Tx people. |

Agreed.
Thing is the whole trans area is a complete minefield. There isn’t a Queer option either, or an Asexual option. (Bet there aren’t too many asexuals who want to join Fab Swingers though…) |

Some people don’t know what they mean when they say that. Honestly can’t see what it would hurt for a few more options. Some people might want it to be easier to find a CD instead of a TS, for example |

Whilst I agree that many things in Fab need to be updated, not least the original question in this thread.
However, I believe there are now something like 72 identified genders, which makes this a whole minefield for any company trying to represent all. Simply put, I don't think they will change there direction at any point soon, so as an individual you must decide what to do with that standpoint.
I agree with the previous poster that your profile is your chance to express yourself freely, and that you should use it to the full. |

Some trans people are in couples too

I think the nicest option would be to split ts and tv. Because they should be split.
Fab is incredibly stupid though, they care about money but they make it harder for a porn category from being identified properly on here. Yup yup yup:. |

The problem with that is the filter options in searching and in blocking.
I consistently get messages from accounts I get warnings from if I were to message because they aren’t looking for tstv. I questioned it a few times and the responses were they didn’t want cross dressers or unconvincing people. Which is where the problem is for me. Being lumped into a group with Barry the fish net cross dresser vs me who’s on hormones for years, and embodying the switch for years, the emotional traumas I’ve had to undergo for just being me.
It’s pretty crap being put into the same group.
And honestly I’ll probably close my account and
Make a new one with Just F on it, since my passport also reflects this. |

I was just discussing this in another thread in the feedback section...just copied and pasted
I agree and think there should be distinction as like you have mentioned going though therapy/hormone treatment is not easy and certainly not the same as chucking a wig and makeup on for a few hours
There should be "trans" category where it would encompass...
MTG
FTM
People going through or in transition/therapy
And then obviously post and pre-op
Obviously there is always going to be CD/TVs who will choose that category
No hate to CD/TV's as I have been with and still have lots of fun with them |

I need to remember to proof read before hitting send.
If they were to split the TV/TS....
I think it would create problems. In age of self-identity, where people can identify as 'trans' but only socially transition ( without medical intervention) or make no effort to transition at all, how are Fab to determine who is trans and who is a TV for the purposes of photo verification?
I see no reason why people don't simply set up an account as the gender they identify as, explaining their situation in greater detail elsewhere on their profile.
If they are to separate TV and TS, how far does inclusion go? Would the queer and non-binary feel excluded because they don't have their identity recognised? The furries? The salmacians?
Although, getting photoverified might then raise the thorny subject of 'passing'..Many I have seen are happy to include MTF or FTM in their username, highlighting their situation, so it is clear to those browsing.
There are apps/sites for those who identify as trans/transgender/transexual.
If people feel excluded, they could perhaps try those. I am sure those looking specifically for trans wouldn't mind using a different site if they are going to get what they want.
All that said, like everyone else in the world...sometimes you just have to 'make do' with what's available. Why should things have to be changed just because someone wants tochange their gender? Maybe that's Fab's attitude. |

Im in a similar situation with some friends too.
Its a shame as a lot of the other swinging sites have way more options available |

Unfortunately this is the truth. The site has remained the same (pretty much) for twenty years. It won’t pay out money to change something that brings no extra revenue . The video option is about the only thing that’s new and emojis for those that pay only. Maybe if there was a cost to changing it it might happen

If the current and possibly new 'gender options' are there on the site, we all have the clear opportunity to FILTER correctly who we want messages from and to meet and who we don't. Simple.
The Binary and non-Binary camps nicely separated.
As for the categories and 'gender options' tick boxes, I wonder if FåbSwingers can come up with those and definitions, that the UN, EU, Westminster and Scottish Parliaments can't reach a concensus of opinion. |

This AGAIN.??
Surely after all this time it is clear that making changes to accommodate such a very small number of people is not a priority for the site. If the site doesn’t suit, try elsewhere. If individuals feel their gender/orientation/fetish isnt accurately represented, there are many more services which might be better.
I am with Buck Angel and Blair White on this one. - everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect…. But the world doesn’t have to change just because someone decides they want to change from man to woman, or vice versa.

Start their own swinging site maybe? There's one solely for men, so if you feel that strongly set up your own site. |

It’s not a small number, there is a huge presence of the gender scale on this site and at swinging clubs. You are right though the site won’t change but not because of anything to do with swinging. It’s because it isn’t a monetised change.
Which is why the question never gets answered by the owner.
If all the people who selected tv/ts that pay for a subscription did decide to not use the site when another eventually does pop up it would certainly effect the business |

But few do leave over it. They air their grievance and don't get an acknowledgement, never mind a constructive reply...and carry on logging in.
Maybe if the LGB and Q were to join them and leave in support, it might carry more weight.
It's very frustrating to see it go on and on, unanswered.

Well, first of all, NONE of the ideas get answered. Admin quite sensibly don't want to get into that conversation. Think of it as a suggestions box on the wall.
I don't think this is a great site for L&G either, they'd find it very dull. I don't think that the site should be changed to make it more attractive to those people, because it would lose focus from its core audience, which is "M/F Couples and their hangers on".
So it's great to have people like that around to give a diversity of views, but I honestly don't know why they'd stay. And that's OK. |

"Thank you. I did think so, but was confused by the OP saying there should be options for trans people....when, clearly, there already is. "
I think it's pretty clear that what they meant is that there should be, at least, separate categories for TV and TS. Well it's clear to me, and I don't agree... |
