Feature Request: Hide Profiles Outside My Preferences (Age, Gender, Orientation)

I’ve been using the site for a while and one thing that kills the experience is how much time is wasted scrolling through profiles that are automatically a mismatch.
For example, I only want to connect with women within a specific age range, but the platform currently shows me everyone, including profiles that clearly aren’t interested in people like me, and profiles I don’t want to pursue. It goes both ways: there’s no benefit to showing my profile to people I’m never going to match with either.
Same with gender/sexual orientation. If I’m not looking for guys or trans profiles, I shouldn’t see them, and they shouldn’t be able to see when I’m online. It reduces awkward messages, mismatched expectations, and wasted time.
I’m not complaining about anyone’s preferences — everyone is entitled to choose what they want — but if those preferences are clearly stated, why are we being shown to each other at all?
It would be great to have:
Filters that actually hide profiles outside our set preferences
Optional privacy setting so users outside those preferences can’t see when we’re online
Mutual filtering: “if I filter you out, I’m filtered out from your view too” |

Do you use the Advanced Search that to search for the genders and sexualities etc that you want, within your preferred distance?
And do you use the message filters, to filter out those of no interest? |

I do have message filter and I do the search filter exist
I meant like whole site wise experience.
I'll give you a example you can see my preference. let's a there is a 70y old couple(which actually happens to me for some odd reason) texts me even though it tells them "hey look you are out of his preferred age range"
ik I didn't block people outside my age preference but my point is just don't show them.
What's the point showing someone something they can't have.

I haven't used the search function in years but I've just had a look now and the option is still there to only search for people in a particular age range and you can also filter out those who aren't looking for your age group.
I always struggle with threads asking the site to carry the load and do all the work and especially when the workload is easily simplified by using existing filters including those related to messaging.
Why not use the tools available including message filters and make it a more relevant experience? |

idk how to explain it in a more simple way anymore. My point was there a option to hide your profile for everyone. Why can't the same be there for people outside my preference.
I do not want to know 60y John enjoyed me wanking in the shower if this makes sense.
same goes to hottest page, I personally don't care if someone is on page 1 of hottest page if I'm not in their age or orientation preference.
I totally understand the message filtering and advanced search but my point was totally different
It genuinely feels like this is feature which should be there. |

You will never know if he enjoyed it if you block him from messaging you.
Because here's the thing, lots of people who you aren't interested in (and aren't interested in you) will still fall within the parameters you set. It's impossible to curate your experience to that level.
Your suggestion is as valid as the next but in the here and now, control what you can control - utilise the available filters. Use the block button as an additional filtering tool.
I can't stand avocado but I don't expect restaurants to shield my eyes from it appearing on their menu. |

I asked earlier if you knew of the Advanced Search and message filters, just to be sure that you knew of them - it's great that you do, as you can at least benefit from them, if you opt to do so.
The owners do read through all of the suggestions made, so your ideas will be taken on board. |
