How about archiving profiles that haven't logged in for six months?

It would cut down bandwidth and wasted time.

For those who don't know what archiving means, it means removing from general view. Potentially, if the account owner logs back in the account is reinstated.

Why?

1) saves messages that are unlikely to get read.

2) saves reading profiles that are likely not going to be used again.

3) stops an overload of messages should the owner log back in.

4) reduces search results.

i think the site should stop profiles that have been on the site 6month who have never been verified or photo verified,,, 6months is long enough to have managed to chat to a few people on here and get at least 1 meet even if its just a social,,,

It's it just about messaging them, it's also about the clutter when searching.

Why are you against archiving stale accounts?

Maybe they will return to use their profile again . It does not stop new people joining . These older profiles are not at the top of any page

Mine was hid for 5 years. Then I came back and unhid my profile. I'd have been sad if I lost my verifications and pics x

As per my first message on this topic, archiving does not mean deleting.

"It would cut down bandwidth and wasted time."

Are you monitoring the network latency and capacity at the Fab data centre? What does bandwidth have to do with anything?

"For those who don't know what archiving means, it means removing from general view. Potentially, if the account owner logs back in the account is reinstated."

That's your own definition made up for convenience. It means putting latent data into offline mode, for long term secure storage, potentially immutable data.

"Why?"

Why on earth would you message profiles that haven't logged in for such a long time?

Why are you reading dormant profiles?

No one is going to message a dormant profile. The likelihood is low unless you're unhinged or desperate. When they finally log in they won't have "an overload of messages". In fact the messages will probably start accumulating from the moment they log in.
