Hi I have sent a feedback thingy but please unblock me from sending messages. If you read the message you will see the context the bad word was used and I was in no way advocating or normalising.

This isn't me arguing, just offering my perspective.
My first (only, I think) message ban came about innocently. I'd had about ten messages that morning about Bad Thing (I'm not even going to try to say it). But they all used words that got around it - the roles you'd play in Bad Thing, or how hot it would be because it's so forbidden.
I messaged a friend something like "seems the theme this morning is Bad Thing" - but I used the correct term. So I got a ban, while the people who were talking in detail about a thing that's illegal, how hot it was, etc, did not. |

The automated block won't know the context of the mail, just the banned words/ sentance etc
The people using block words will probably always try to get round it once they figure out what is blocking them,it is always best to report any that do and let Admin take a look |

I wouldn't report someone for that if I didn't know whether the word is actually banned. A list would be really helpful! |

I don't think that's working.
Without a list, what currently happens is that people will just try and talk about things that they're interested in, and get a temporary ban, and then they'll know in future to work around the automatic checking of certain words. Other people can't report them for trying to avoid a banned word if they don't know that it's banned.
Say that "string" is one of the banned words. If I see someone mentioning "str*ng" then I'm not going to report them because I don't know that it's banned. I'm certainly not going to report them for using "twine".
I think giving a list of banned words will increase the clarity of what are out of bounds subjects. And at the end of the day it's preventing the subjects being discussed that we care about, not the exact words.
An exception - I'm happy that we don't include slurs on the published list!
But maybe I've missed the point... |

If the words are known then people will just use an alternative word to continue talking about a banned subject and then defeats the puspose |

For clarity, if some of the words or getting round words are sent to you in a mail you would know it would need reporting. |

It'll involve a word for non consensual activity. Quite rightly for a site that encourages a safe, consensual environment, it's banned. The creeps on here still find ways around it, but a simple report gets rid of them. |

I think it's because there would also have to be a list of every word that contains some of the same letters as a banned word 😂 that gets me loads |

Personally my opinion is simple. Those who use the banned words already dodge them so hiding a list does nothing to prevent these subject matters. It doesnt however punish those who use a banned word in a context of disgust or as general conversation without the knowledge of it being banned when they arent seeking these subjects out themselves for fun. Its happened to me before where ive had a fully innocent conversation and been banned for seemingly no reason and there wasnt even a word involved that should obviously be banned or even part of a banned subject. So hiding the list only punishes the innocent while the guilty hide in cryptic messages. |

I know. But thats the problem. The innocent get punished due to context while the guilty already avoid the words. Most of the guilty ones are already versed in knowing what words to avoid saying through experience in other sites and some get a short ban here if they get caught out then avoid the words again. Those who are innocent get hit more than anyone else. So at the very least an appeal process should be allowed where admin check the messages used to see context amd warn the person of future usage. That way it allows the innocent party to report the guilty party whos dodging the words a lot more. |
