We've made some changes to improve the inbox for everyone:
* more obvious what messages you have replied to; they are shaded out in the list
* more obvious which new messages are from people you have messaged previously (they are bright yellow)
* more obvious which new messages are from friends (they have smiley face friend icon and are in orange)
* new messages from people you've not contacted before and are not friends with are light yellow
We've also made some other cosmetic improvements to how the page is formatted for all users.

They go pale when replied
Theory being you're probably mostly done with them; makes it easier to scan and see what messages you've missed

The bright yellow ones stand out the most, can't we have the yellow for friends messages as they are the ones most likely to be scanned for quickley in a list.
(yeh i know picky !) ( different colours are a great idea)

Just had a look at our inbox, and sorry have to say that we are not liking it...
It's actually making it harder to see read/unread messages and replied/un replied messages.

I like the idea of the diff colours but not the peach/yellow combo.
And the smiley face is so small I didn't notice it at first. Am on mobile tho so that might be why x |

its a lot to take in..
don't like the fading of old msg...if u don't wanna keep old msg ..that's what the delete button is for
I wud like there to have mabe been an icon on the replied msg ..when I look at my inbox im not sure wot im doin..

I can see myself adjusting to the new system - just not the 'replied' messaged part!!
I will constantly be checking to see if messages have been replied to because I won't see the most obvious part that told me I had - the word 'replied' next to it!!
Otherwise a nice colour code system

Does anyone know if Admin has a pool of 'Road testers'. People they use to test their improvements on before implementing the change(s)? It would be useful to have young and less young people, men, women...a mix. Thecnology is such nowadays that I would not be surprised if a blind person used the site..how do these changes impact them?  |

We think it's fair to say, we got some things wrong here
We've moved the new mailbox to its own link so we can work on keeping the good stuff and improving the bad stuff. We'll provide another update when we've done a re-jig

Please just leave it alone and add a select/delete all button. 600 messages a day can be such a grind. (Speaking for someone else here.) |

Sorry, not really getting it. Why can we not simply have a sort option like most message systems? For example sort by date/from etc There is still no way of reading the messages that have go. ne from the screen. |

From what I saw I think that friends messages should be highlighted the brightest,and messages from other people fading in colour
I don't like the idea of any text being faded at all as sometimes need to read a message again and faded text is difficult to see |

I really like the idea of people who are friends or who you are replying to being a different colour to those that are new messages.
Can I suggest that people you message regularly or that are friends with are the ones which are brighter.

really, those colours are so close together, hard to distinguish, should pick totally contrasting colours |

I think stick to old version but have a colour if messaged by friends so stands out.
To many colours fading etc is confusing and yellow with black writing is not good for dyslexic people.
Was easy to know if you had replied just by the word replied being written next to it.
But I repeat I colour message off a friend would make it clear. |

The idea is brilliant but as has been said already the colours are wrong and too similar.
Something like green for friends would make them stand out nicely, previous contacts could stay yellow and brand new messages could be something else, maybe orange.
I actually quite liked the replied messages being greyed out but it would appear I'm in the minority. Perhaps a green arrow for replied to like other email systems. |

The colours of my messages hasn't changed though? I couldn't care one bit what colour my messages are anyway seeing I already know who I message regularly and who my friends are.

The new idea sounds really wonderful,I had thought about it some time back having used one website and they had the same idea.. just using it for the first time,I was just wondering if colors like red/green/blue to be used than what is used now.... dunno what impact that would have.

What would really be great is to make it possible when browsing and it says "you messages them 6 weeks ago ect or they messages you previously - to be able to hit that icon and bring up the message it referred to ... That can't be to hard and it would make browsing easier and more fun )
Plus when will we get to upload videos Other sites do it xx |

I am not so sure about it; at the moment one has to click the link to the new inbox as it doesn't stay and also once a message is read you cannot see the picture they have attached as I had an introductory message this morning but cannot go back to see what he looks like so cannot decide if I want to meet him or not |

Just because the message fades, doesn't mean you cant re-click it. It's just the colour of the messages that changed. |

I get that but it seems once you have opened a message and viewed any attached pictures, you cannot click on the picture to view it again like we can on the 'old' version as it remains small |

You do however have the option to save those messages and if you are a site supporter, you can still see the messages you have exchanged with them |
