Club Reviews on Fab

How is it that about 98%- 99% of the club reviews on Fab are ravingly positive and glowing.

If it was an Amazon product with such reviews I would have doubts buying it.

Maybe Admin should structure it into pros and cons.

My reviews:

Swindon swingers:

Cons:

First, the club's postcode shows up wrongly on Google map.

Inside of the club is dark, poor lighting including the lounge area ,giving it a seedy feel.

Narrow dark passages.

Awful music. Seemed the only speaker was at the lounge, was difficult hearing the music away from the lounge.

Unshelthered smoke area, nice layout with seats but no shelter.

Could have been alternative area, (other than the lounge) to socialise.

Pro:

Plenty of rooms.

Large dark room.

Plenty Glory holes

Large dark cinema

XTASIA:

Con:

Can't really fault anything there

Pro:

Large lively dance floor.

Has a bar that sells alcohol.

Lots of lounge area.

Lots of places to socialise: the bar, smoke area, everywhere actually, plenty seats and booths.

My first visit to xtasia wasn't much fun though, was a GG night, without the first G.

My second visit was smashing: the April foam party. Proud to say best party I have ever been to.

The turnout was amazing.

Lots of willing playmates.

Lovely music

Atmosphere was truly party like.

May be we can read what people truly think of the clubs they 've visited.

62 West Wallaby Street (not real address)

Every persons visit to a club is different though. Maybe the 98-99% of people you guessed at had a better experience than you on that particular day. That is why there is a club reviews section so people can leave reviews

We've added several reviews of clubs during our time on FAB. They have been genuine and positive.

Though importantly we did not add a review to a club we went to several months ago. It was an awful experience!!! But it gets very good reviews on here?? God knows why??

I've seen several negative reviews posted and reviewer get castigated.

Also these are small businesses, you could be writing something that could damage their business. So unfortunately we will judge with our feet and won't return. The club may not change as a result. Though plenty of people do enjoy that club. Which is totally fine.

People get/want different things from their clubs experiences.

It doesn't stop overwhelmingly positive reviews though. People just wouldn't fill in the cons section or put something in like "nothing".

I'd personally like to see a " not for me" type option for a club experience that wasn't bad but just not suited to the reviewers (say they prefer a dress down experience to a dressed nightclub experience etc)

I've seen negative reviews for different clubs, as said above different people have different views in each club, even when they've gone on the same night. I have also seen negative reviewers chastised on the review section with negative, sometimes personal comments.

My advice is always to people, I like or dislike a certain club, but thats my opinion, try it yourself and see what you think as they may find negatives or positives the opposite to me.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

The review section needs an overhaul badly. There are too many bad reviews from people who had bad nights because there were too many people, or too few people, or not the right people. Surely the club should be reviewed on what they have control over, like facilities, cleanliness, etc.

As for the overwhelmingly positive reviews, it's not the clubs fault if people who have had a bad time don't leave feedback.

I prefer to make my own mind up about a club, and will always post an honest review.

One way these clubs will get better with improved facilities and experience is by members leaving honest reviews. Without fear of being castigated.

If a substantial percentage of a club membership complained, of say lighting in the lounge area, the business would be silly not be listen and make amends.

Or at least come to a compromise with others who prefer the darker atmosphere.

If people would actually review the club itself and not base it on how much action they did or didn't get, they would be useful.

Why don't you just put that review on the club review section? My Swindon Swingers reviews are balanced and positive because I think it's a great club but your points are valid... Especially the music.

I gave an honest review of a club where I had a bad experience and from that got abuse. I ended up blocking the owners of the club on here. It wouldn't put me off giving another bad review if I didn't have a good experience.

If that was my club I'd be acting on bad reviews to make it a better experience and not getting regulars to give abuse

Some clubs are not for certain people. We've been to a few and had a bad night but would never leave a review for fear of what tattoo demon has said .... Or being accused of posting vindictively. We try and use a bad review and look at why Most tend to have some reality in them .... Maybe be a way of responding would be a good idea. Last bad one was. Music to loud. Clientele too young ..... I like bad reviews like that

Agrees with this post plus add in that some clubs try via their "friends" to give negative reviews to other clubs in the same area.

When reported nothing happens...

Some reviews are def. fake as the party writting them can be in 2 clubs or parties on the same evening/night with a 100miles between them - Either they got a f*** fast car or they can beam themselves

Only if they state they were at both clubs on the same Friday night. I could have been at club A on fri then club B on Sat and left a review for both on Sun/Mon.

Doncaster

This section needs a complete overhaul , to many people using it just to say, they had another great night at there favourite club rather than an actual review of the club. Some try to push up the number of reviews a club has to try and make it look good. Then you have the Avoid reviews, firstly you get abuse from the regulars who go, and secondly people post avoid reviews because of something that happened that is outside the club's control, like someone was d*unk, caused trouble and was made to leave, next day, put an avoid review, someone breaks club rules and are dealt with, next day , Avoid review.

Suggestions for this section, more options like , it's not for us, or did not like. And also limit the number of review to one per club, if you want to leave a new review then your old one must be removed first.

I was going to leave a review to a club I went to with a FB, I did not like it, I did not feel safe there at all, the club was run very badly and did not have any control over single guys, a lot of non English speaking guys who would not take no for an answer. People took there own booze but I found this a problem as someone stole our from behind the bar and some people drank far to much. I noticed someone had put an avoid review with roughly the same point of view that I had but after seeing the abuse they got in this section and the personal abuse they got from regular members I decided not to leave my review. Admin need to seriously monitor this section and it need changing.

The reason that most of the club reviews are positive is because people are scared to leave a negative review.

We don't blame them after the backlash we recieved after leaving a truthfully negative review of a club that has been shit for a couple of years now.

We had a few people messaging us being abusive and one couple actually threating us physically. Also the same couple made out they were very well known in the scene and because of our honest review we weren't welcome at the other local clubs.

The funny thing was we had more people messaging us saying they were glad we had been honest as they didn't feel like they could be on there review incase they got any backlash because of it.

Take reviews with a pinch of salt and go and see what it's like for your self. Not everyone likes the same thing.

It is the club's fault when they jump on the people for expressing the e opinion and try to humiliate them and the regulars message them abuse just for expressing there opinion.

Exactly the same happened to us a few years back and not just privately but also on the forums and review section. The club actually shut down a few month later.
