At the mo, we have the following rooms in chat:
Lobby
California
General
Directing
ireland
London
Scotland
Wales
Supporters
The Scots/Welsh and irish rooms are there for that region....and I know for sure the scots room has a good "community feel" about it, I assume the welsh room does too.
Would it be of any benefit if we had more regional based rooms, IE North, Midlands, South or even going further to North East, North West, Midlands, South East, South West?
Many people do use the chat rooms to either arrange meets or to chat to folk to get to know them before pouncing on them so more chance of folk been closer to them for a prospective meet?
Im sure there will be negatives against this idea though.... but is it worth admin looking into it?

From me the answer is a definite YES to a North West Region. The problem with the Welsh room is that the majority of ppl are from the South (No disrespect) and it's a LOT easier to get from North Wales to say Manchester/Liverpool or anywhere really! |

The more different rooms that are provided will most likely lead to more accusations of the charooms being 'cliquey'
If I had my way I'd have less segregation in chatrooms not more |

It does seem unfair on the other regions of the country that havent got more localised rooms and maybe Im been biased here but I dont think that the Scots room is cliquey.
However, due to the fact that so many socials are run most of the regular users of the Scots chat have met face to face which makes chatting a lot easier in my opinion. To others this may look like its cliquey but its just cos we all know each other well but when newcomers wander into the rooms they are generally greeted and welcomed with open arms.

To a point Steve, I agree with what you are saying, but hand on heart these are my feelings......,
You mentioned the Scottish room so I'm using this as an example and it is no way a reflection of the Scottish room in particular..
I never go into the Scottish room, because I feel that it's for Scots people ONLY. Now I know that I'm wrong and I also know that if I went into the room I would be welcome, but because it is labeled as a Scottish room, I feel that I shoudln't be there.. and I'm a friggin moderator
But seriously, I wonder how many other people are reluctant to go into other 'labeled' chatrooms because they feel that they don't belong there. ? |

Like redhotcouple we never really go into rooms like London or Wales. But we do love the scots room. Its good to have a room for your region. So a NW, Midlands type rooms would be good for folk! |

" Of a night we can easily get 500 or so people in chat. Maybe if we had 500 rooms there would be something for everyone?"
Then the site would need to take on about 480 new mods - |

more north lincs than mids! |
"what about if the username section was catagorised into regions so that you could see who was in from your area but everyone was still in the same room?
xx"
Can you imagine how busy the chat would be tho? Get over about 50 ppl in a room and the chat is flowing so fast that it's easy to get lost. Put everyone in the same room chatting and there wouldn't be a hope in hell of following. |

no, i didnt mean EVERYONE lol
just in the chatrooms already there. like once you join a room there could be sub-folders?
hmm, not explaining this very well - sorry
take the scotland room for example
Scotlandroom 47users
HIGHLANDS
joe bloggs
shugggy
james
username
EAST
username
CENTRAL
_eclan_and_aimee
username
username
username
WEST
username
BORDERS
username
OTHER
username
when you join the chatroom you decide what catagory you want to go in, then if anyone is looking for someone local, they just have to look at the usernames in that area instead of having to read through all the profiles?
and there could be another column where the blue A and V's show to show the meet today icon?
