So have you decided how many direct photos I can post yet? Being a poor freebie member but of many years standing and loving your site...

Cant say that we would use the feature. The approved pics that turn out to be fake/stolen are bad enough, but umodded ones are just adding fuel to the fire imho.

Even without that, we just wouldn't need to use it, personally.

It's an awful feature this site has enough fakes and picture thieves as it is, now your allowing ppl to send any picture you like without mod approval. We're not allowed to do this on our profiles why should the rules be different for private messages ???

Just received a face pic from a member through this technique. Bad bad idea admin. We now have to explain to them that this technique is open to abuse, that this could be a photo of anyone, and so their face pic isn't good for us. If they want to use this technique they'll need to hold up a sign with their user name on it.

This function needs axing asap before it brings the whole site to a halt with scam artists.

I think it's a great fun addition.

Then again I'm not looking to do anything sinister with it.

If you're worried you're getting fake pics ask the person to do something specific in the pics like certain number of fingers up or whatever..

We already put up with crude messages and pics of things we don't want to look at. Can't see any direct pics being any worse. Delete and block will work just as easy as it did before.

Really don't see why people are getting their knicks in a twist. If you don't know the person and it has a pic attached, don't open it. Delete it. The world has bigger problems to deal with.

It's a touch frustrating that you can't send pre existing photo's alongside direct photo's. some couples would like to see a body and face shot for example, which I cannot seem to do if I use a direct photo. I don't want to have a bunch of face photo's on my profile so the direct feature is great for taking a face photo as I look at the time of sending the message but that being said it does seem to limit me in sending say two photos in a message. Thats the only improvement I can see that could be made

One things for sure it's definitely marmite. If we have to put up with it may I humbly suggest a couple of limitations. It could be, for example, a feature for paid users only. This would limit the scammers using it a tad and would add value to the upgrade proposition.

I do worry about people moving over to using it for unmoderated face pic swaps. We sent a pic of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to someone on this thread as a joke to show how it can be abused. To remedy this may I suggest sending pics direct from phone can only be done between friends, or only after a face pic has been sent from the gallery, or even only once someone has chosen to accept such pics.

I don't like the feature as is but with these issues resolved I could see it being helpful in some situations. The sooner you can stop it in its current form the better imo

It would be a shame if Fab went the way of kik as the only people I've ever met on there who weren't transparently fake were people I met on here first. If Fab veered more towards silly cybersex with fake profiles a space would definitely open up for a site that specialised in helping real people meet real people... exactly what Fab really should be focusing on imo

An option to not allow it would be good... So when someone tries, it has a message saying "you are currently not allowed"... Ya know, maybe a friends only feature or something... I don't want to block people (or a certain demographic) but I've had some crap sent to me recently.

When you "delete" stuff on your computer, it can still be recovered unless the space is over written on the hard drive. It's basically one of the first things law enforcement do when they take a machine in an investigation.

Not only that, some people my be affected when looking at certain images, hence the warnings on news sites and post watershed programming.

It would be naive to think that pictures of penises are the only things we have to worry about here.

If it's held in a message that you only get when you log into Fab, rather than sent directly to your phone, like a text, then it has to be stored on a Fab Server.

If the site is run half decently it would probably be deleted but recoverable if the system immediately went down or via a backup server. But within probably quite a short time its data section would be overwritten with other stuff and a new backup made without it, overwriting the old one. I doubt they'd keep a permanent backup of it anywhere.

On the recently closed "Send a direct photo (rude)" thread 17 couples said they were in... 9 women said they were in... 3 women were unsure or changed their mind after getting some cock pics... and 3 women posted to say they weren't into it. Thus, of the 175 posts roughly 143 were from men. I don't know if that's just Fab demographics for you or if it tells you something about this feature. I'd say the upshot is that it's a great way to send people of all persuasions cock pics. Woo hoo! So glad you added this feature rather than fixed our mailboxes or improved options for meeting people

So how does this feature get policed, in terms of the pictures being sent? There's strict picture rules for images hosted on the site (no poop, pee, fisting etc). If the direct photo feature isn't policed, presumably the site as a way of protecting itself from culpability if the feature were used for offending (or god forbid) illegal images?

Id leave it to Kik or Snapchat to handle that sort of 'self destructing' picture messaging.

Just my 2 cents.

"I like it, it means I can send non swinging type pics to friends

I can't see how it makes any difference to people sending fake pics etc, just use your common sense and self moderate pics. "

so are you happy with someone screen shotting your pics and send then to someone, or in a more extreme example, someone sending pictures of an underage person to your computer??? as apparently it's not being monitered.

"The people who don't like it there's a dead simple solution for that...don't use it then "

Does that mean I can choose to NOT receive direct images then? That before I open a message with an attachment I can see if it is an image that has been accepted/moderated by Fab or some random crap they have decided to send to me?

No?

Then I can't choose if I want to use it or not.

Now that's a great idea! An option to not allow direct photos. Someone tries to send one and gets a screen telling them this user has blocked that feature. Either that or an "accept incoming pic" button that you can decline. Both features put power back in the user's hands to say if they want to use this feature or not.

It reduces instances where someone sends face pics this way, you see them, then they expect yours in return but you have to explain why you're not ready to do that without seeing a properly verified face pic of them. This way the user tries to send a face pic (or any pic directly), you decline it without seeing it, they ask why you declined and you can say you don't accept direct pics from people you haven't met. It's just much more empowering than the current situation. Big

Totally agree.....my choice to accept or decline, just as it should be.

It's defo a positive addition, if you don't trust the person you're talking to then don't reply. Simples.

We won't be sending pics direct to anyone any time soon and we won't be accepting them either.

Can you tell if it's a direct photo before you open the mail?

Being able to block them sounds a good idea. Same as we can use mail filters for different profiles.

The tiny attachment thumbnail is clearly flagged if it's a direct photo. For anyone concerned, they can choose to not open the attachment.

Can I make another humble plea for something like an "accept direct pics from..." attribute with options of "anyone, friends only, and no one". It would be set to "anyone" by default. But users could change it.

With the current system if a complete stranger sends me a face pic via direct pic (a bad thing) I have to be psychic and sense this is what their message contains, not read it, and then explain to them why face pics via direct pics aren't reliable. All this can end up jinxing a connection before it's even got going. It's really the only instance I know of where Fab undermines what people are trying to do on the site rather than compliments it.

If instead they just get a message saying we don't accept direct pics from non friends then they either have to friend us or send us pics another way. It gets rid of the messiness

Could it be that the messages are intended to be just that (PRIVATE)?

"Just received a face pic from a member through this technique.

Or get them to hold up a piece of paper with your user name on it so that you know it's less likely to have been photoshopped( since photoshop takes a little time to look genuine)

So now we can all behave like adults on this adult site without dictating to everybody what they should do?

So you're happy that just because it's private messages, that perverts could be using this site to swap pictures of children or bestiality (in theory)

How would you feel if everything you posted on this site had to be vetted and approved by admin before it was actually displayed? Including your forum posts?

Examples might end up like:

I want to meet somebody for a social in two years and six weeks time when this finally reaches the notice board. No better make that four years if admin are busy!

Vetting everything is not possible. Even governments can't do it fast enough.
