Stop People Verifying Fake Profiles

Fake profiles are rife on fab and I'm sure most have been in contact with one, not realising, from couples profile being a single guy or a 18 year old teen wanting older guy and she can accom.

I've noticed today for example, a young female profile started and then verified within one hour. The person who verified her has been on site for over a year.

I've seen this often some people actually verifying fake profiles by cam or saying they met in person within hours of joining.

Obviously some of these fake profiles are caught out but does fab take note of the people who verified them and take action against them or if they don't, should they start to do so?

Its obviously some people who think a profile is fake and might report it but I suppose fab have to do the research to confirm profile is fake which could take time.

Where the fuck do you people find them?

And of course, just because you think it's fake, doesn't mean it is fake.

A verification within an hour of joining isn't unusual.

What you have to bear in mind is that in some cases people who newly join have been on fab before so have previously met people from here, and then get verified by them after being on here less than a day. I've verified a few guys on here after they have rejoined after a break ect, and they certainly aren't fake.

I've been offered a fake veri swap by someone who has loads of veris which means that they could all be fake too. Got a feeling there's whole networks of this going on, or people making multiple profiles and verifying themselves.

Only way to stop this is to have some kind of 'verified by admin' involving some kind of evidence of identity.

Agreed, not saying most are fake profiles but they are out there and people come up against them and profiles have been found as a fake but actually have had verifications.

For example there has been in the past three weeks in Scotland about 3 profiles a week of girls aged between 18 to 20 saying they on sex site and the site is listed in the status. So its just advertising by the same person. Two of those profiles were verified so they were infact a fake and obviously in turn the verifications were fake.

I'm not saying its a situation that's up to us but I'm meaning profiles that are genuinely caught out as fake that have verifications, action should be best to be taken against the fake verifications.

Agreed, not saying most are fake profiles but they are out there and people come up against them and profiles have been found as a fake but actually have had verifications.

If they're female and between 18 and 20, I'd say there's a very high chance they're fake.

Most guys your age would probably know that

And how the heck do you think the small team that is admin are going to find the time to run some sort of "verified by admin" facility? Notwithstanding the simple question like how on earth can they be 100% certain about a profiles sincerity?

Any idea how big the unpaid part time admin team is and how many people join Fab every day?

Yes they get a warning and their own veri's removed if they are found to have given a fake veri

Some new people are people returning so it may be legit, but no harm in reporting anyway

Its not a moan, its just something I brought up in a post and if someone has a think about it and come up with a good idea how to stop people verifying fake profiles then let the forum know.

It all helps, that's all. All I'm doing is bringing it to attention of the forums if it hasn't been before so people can, if they have the time, to make a point or come up with an idea

The only way to stop the fake verifications is to remove the verification system completely

I have been on the site on and off over 10yrs and discovered too many fakes who proceed to talk me to the gate then block me.

I read profiles and verifications so can work it out ... they are so convincing

Most fake profiles are easy to spot, especially if you think with your brain.

If I spot one I usually report it as being so, admin will then take it down.

Op just because a profile is verified within an hour of joining doesn’t mean it’s fake! When hubby and I met on here after being on here as singles, we set up our couples profile. We have many friends from fab who we met as singles and we were verified within minutes of setting up the profile.

However, if you do come across a profile which you suspect is fake then the best thing to do is report it and admin will deal with it accordingly

When people rejoin they often already know people from having profiles before and asked to be re verified. Sometimes people tell people about the site and then verify them when they join as they already know them. There are lots of fake profiles but being verified with an hour, does not guarantee that it is fake

Guys I get that, totally get that people leave and re-join and get verified immediately, I have done the same 2 years ago where friends verified me straight away after previously being on 8 years.

The post was originally about after a fake had been caught and deleted by the fab admin. Do they take action against the people who have verified a fake account, which people have verified fake profiles FACT. 'Rugby Does MFM' then replied that they do, which is great now to know. The post was hoping so that if anyone else had other ideas how to stop them as well then that's good.

You cant just open another account to verify another. Theres a block system in place to stop.people verifiying and fabbing other accoubts they use.

You made a legitimate point but as is usual people got on their own hobby-horses without understanding your point.

We've also thought that some members here are quite happy to dish out fake veri's most likely in exchange for robbed pictures. One guy even admitted to doing it in forum a few weeks back. He didn't get suspended fyi.

I reckon profiles like that could possibly be the same person verifying themselves! I wish it was one user per IP device. It might eliminate this problem.
