New Law on Access to Porn Sites

Just noticed on the BBC website that a new law to restrict access to "porn" websites by introducing age verification is coming into effect on 15 July.

How will this effect this site? Will we all have to go through this process to continue to have access?

Thanks

Halloween Town

As this place doesn't have movies it should be fine.

They may need to review the cam chat rooms though.

One way round it would be to have the cam rooms for paying And verified members only. But it's a bit of stretch that way tbh.

Would photo verification count?

No because a photo verification doesn't have to be your face.

According to the BBC website:

More than a third of a site or app's content must be pornographic to qualify.

A platform that hosts pornography but does not do so on a commercial basis –

meaning it does not charge a fee or make money from adverts or other activity - will

not be affected.

It will remain legal to use virtual private networks (VPNs), which can make it seem

like a UK-based computer is located elsewhere, to evade the age checks.

Mindgeek, one of the adult industry's biggest players, has developed an online

system of its own called AgeID, which it hopes will be widely adopted. It involves

adults having to upload scans of their passports or driving licences, which are then

verified by a third party.

So this site may be OK because less than a third of the content may be “pornographic”, or because its income is not related to the site’s porn content.

If the site is forced to verify users’ ages, maybe paying for membership by credit or debit cards would serve the purpose.

No doubt the site owners will let us know what the situation is in due course.

Uploading your PASSPORT to a porn site to get a pass to sign in to porn websites, meaning that a porn company has details of what porn you access and your identity in a form that can be hacked.

Hmmmm... What could possibly go wrong? *cough*bl@ckmail*cough* *cough*career and social life destroyed*cough*
