Just been reading that the French have informed the EU that France will maintain strict border controls until October 30th.
Safe or not, it doesn't look like anyone will be travelling to France any time soon. |

Macron has said nobody from outside the EU countries is allowed into France until October so the whole of the summer will be lost to anyone not living here and as Rishi Sunak said in a press conference this week, the UK has left the EU! |

Think you may be a little wrong there.. that's shengun countries and france has said that Britain hasn't actually left the EU till end of december so that rule does not apply to brits.. |

Just for the sake of clarity...
The UK has never been part of the Schengen agreement which facilitates easy passage between participating countries. If any member wishes to reintroduce controls, they have to publicly state it. Which the French have done.
Membership of Schengen and the EU are not necessarily the same thing.
And the UK has definitely left the EU, we are now in a period of transition until the end of the year.
As an aside, that will almost certainly be extended due to the current preoccupation with the virus containment.

I would just add that with Britain being outside the Schengen area (in the EU or not) Should the external border into Schengen be closed until September (as Macron has asked for) then it will apply to Britain.
France also wants to restrict its internal (Schengen) border until 30th October. Which will mean restrictions staying in place on the land borders between France and Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Belgium. Also the same restrictions will apply to the other Schengen area country's for air travel.
Bottom line is that France is closed until 30th October unless Macron changes his mind. |

We had planned to get back home to France for the summer.
Although we are allowed to enter France if we show proof of permanent residency (which we can) there is currently no provision in Spain which allows us to head off in that direction.
So we're stuck in Spain for the immediate future.
Mind you, compared with the problems others are facing, it pales in significance.. |

Spoke to friends yesterday, they are close to some Oltra staff and have a place there.
Staff think it unlikely Oltra will open before end of July.
Take from that what you will, not direct from the horses mouth but close..

Macron seems to be including campsites in the same category as sporting events and concerts.
They will not be permitted until at least mid July, so unless site-owners can convince him to open them earlier, that's as it stands.
Also the EC President is advising people not to book summer holidays, saying we have to live with the virus for many months, maybe even until next year.
Doesn't make for good reading does it..?

I had not realised that camp sites were to be treated the same as organised events although I can see the logic in that.
That will put paid to the the chalets I had booked both at the beginning and end of June (two different camping parks) then. |

Brittany Ferries not operating until may15th but the French prime minister will review on the 11th.
Hotels ,b&b's will be reviewed mid July .looks like Paris will the last to unlock while some departments may be relaxed slowly. |

I still can't find anything official, but campsites seems to fall under the same category as mass gatherings.
It's still a fast moving topic that could change in a week. And then change back again just as quickly..!
It seems more likely that things will ease gradually, with different rules depending on how the virus is sitting locally.
That seems to be how other governments are forecasting it anyhow.. |

The lockdown relates to those in France. What you must remember is that lockdown and border crossing are separate. Macron has closed the borders until 30 October. Under the border rules no one is allowed in unless you have proof of residency so tourists for holidays will definitely not be allowed in. There is a form that has to be filled in to state your purpose of visit and tourism is not one of the boxes to complete. If you say for residence then you have to have proof. |

It is Boris and Co who have said they will not ask for, nor accept an E.U. offer, to extend the Transition period, deal or no deal. Blind ideology reins supreme.  |

No firm information yet, Macron has said no large scale gatherings until end of summer. Every summer festival here is be cancelled. In his speech on sunday the Prime minister said the entry or re-entry to France would be quite demanding for those arriving from abroad. He also said its not reasonable to think of booking rentals, hotels, holidays or camping place in July or August. So its not looking good for the summer. |

I still can't find anything that specifically refers to campsites being closed, only the blanket "large scale gatherings" so I was assuming that it came under that heading, as bars and restaurants are mentioned by name.
We're a bit removed from France at the moment as we're lockdown in Spain. Just hoping you might have picked up some snippets locally...

On the government website it says that campsite are allowed to stay open but only for those that live there full time. Its the same for hotels but all holiday accommodation and rental homes are closed. So by default you cannot turn up for a holiday stay.
People in holiday homes are now being reported by locals and the police are then sending them home, but each person gets a €135 fine plus the rental owner gets a fine. So extra clarity should come out in the next 10 days as the issue the lockdown exit strategy. |

I live on a residential campsite SW France only people that were on campsite on the lockdown date (15th March} are allowed on to site no other visitors are allowed not even local (Bordeaux) owners are allowed it is very quiet 6th week of lockdown now and several more to look forward to ???? we are very lucky can walk round the lake and fish or walk along few miles of river bank hope everyone is staying safe xxxxx |

The same criteria applies to Spanish sites. OK if you live there full time, but not open to visitors.
