Go on the gov.uk website and bang in a few details about yourself and passport.

You may be surprised at the date it expires.

Our expiry dates were 8 and 12 months out.

Quite a few people were refused boarding to Palma today for this.

Post Brexit any unspent months added on because you renewed a passport early are not valid for use.

Lizandpaul ..

Not sure I'm reading this correctly.

Are you saying they were refused boarding because their passports had expired..?

If the date on their passport was still valid, they should be allowed to travel.

The checking immigration official wouldn't have access to the UK.Gov website to see if the dates varied.

But I'm just off to check ours anyway...!!

UK passports are now only valid for 10 years from date of issue, ignore the expiry date https://www.gov.uk/guidance/passport-rules-for-travel-to-europe

Yes, my understanding they were refused boarding at Newcastle Airport.

I thought it maybe rubbish but checked gov website and was quite shocked with results.

Paul is working abroad at present and had no issues and the dates shown would not cause problems for us when we travel to GC in September.

For future travel in 2022, renewing passport, can't be bothered taking the chance of being refused boarding even if it's a mistake.

Funny you should say that.

My grandfather was born in Dublin, is that enough.
