An early start this year, but this has gone up on the Oltra Website.

« sanitary pass” is no more requested for your stay

Following the latest government announcements, the vaccination pass is not necessary to stay in our Holiday Center from March 15,2022.

However ,it’s still mandatory in Bars and restaurants until new announcements.

We wish you a pleasant stay

After two years of not being able to get a meal at the start of the season, Ghymnos are starting early. They open from Thursday 10th March 2022.

Camping Site opened today. The normal struggle to get through Village first checkpoint though. Camping last year offered to send us cards, later rescinded in February. E Mail told us to go to office with contract though. Waste of time though as the new cards have not yet arrived. Come back next month, said the charming young lady. So back to the barrier, and waved the contract at the security guard, having tried last years card without success. Entry achieved!

Camp Site Update. Reception. Day 1. It looks like management have had a clear out of reception staff. I didn’t recognise any one on the desk. Booking in was slower than normal with information on the booking form being re-entered into the computer system. Paperwork from last year had been lost. From arrival outside reception to finishing the process took 45 minutes. Hopefully it will improve.

Pass by a few weeks ago to see the parking we had been allocated for the motorhome. I take it you didn’t notice the green netting attached to the perimeter fencing, rumour has it

this season they will be informing people that this is a naturist campsite. Bing it on

Not noticed any green netting. Seems rather pointless shielding the camp site from the rest of the Village Naturiste. Will keep an eye out though. As it was only 13C today, naturism was on hold!

Are they asking for details of any naturist organisations you may belong to before flogging a bit of card for an extortionate amount like in 2019 for theirs?

showed them a recently expired BN one, but insisted we had one of their own French ones,

Its early yet obviously, but perhaps in season and with this year not being clothes optional but proper naturist through out the campsite, they may enforce similar again when the school hols star especially be good to know as a BN one is cheaper if we got to have one.

Still requesting affiliation to some naturist organisation. When we requested the FNN Card today, having paid for it, the response was that we do not have the cards yet. Fourth year in in a row! If the queue is excessive tomorrow, may start another go slow.

Camp Site. Day 2. Only a 25 minute wait at reception to order a new gas bottle. Do not go there after 12, or before 2. Of the 4 new front of house staff, 3 have their lunch break starting at 12, leaving 1 on duty. It ended with me telling him that he had to give me a receipt for the now paid for gas bottle so that I could get Technical Services to sign and stamp it, and do a one empty for a new full one. He did confirm that they were all new this year. So, by the looks of it are most of the technical staff, and security, and the cleaners for the ablutions. However, if you look at the website, there is new information on the gender equality index for 2022. ´The Equality Index reveals the good score of the René Oltra Naturist Center in 2022 and testifies to its commitment to professional equality. Equality Index Women - Men. Your total score is 95/100.’ Is this the reason for the new staff?

Nice stroll today. In Port Ambonne, Pizza Flora had the shutters up and were cleaning the kitchen. They expect the new floor to be complete by the end of next week, and to open by 4th April at the latest. The 3 bars at the other end, Bodega, Palmerie and Pilouterie are already open. The Sauna is advertising a St Patrick’s day event on Saturday 19th March and shutters were up. Going down to Port Nature bumped into David from Le Missisipi. They will be opening on 29th April. Apart from that nowhere is open at present, but some restaurants are cleaning kitchens, so signs of life. Tantra have a sign that they will be opening for Friday and Saturday and Public Holidays in May. In Hélio, Green Bazzar is already open. Spar and the nice bakery are open mornings only at present. Back at camp site. Reward for all that is in a Verre de Vin Rouge.

Yes we would agree.

However it would depend on the time of year.

Cap is is a very short season in the summer. For Autumn/Winter/Spring we would say GC is better.

Two years ago we heard a rumour that Oltra Campsite was planning a swimming pool. (Warning, don’t get too excited). Well, it has come true! The Animation Office was moved during the winter, and behind it is the new swimming pool. However, it is quite small, and is for children only. Oltra has now updated the map, and there are going to be a Coffee Bar and a Bakery/Grocery in the area around the entrance. Will update as and when they open.

That's a shame, always said a pool would be a lovely addition to the campsite.. oh well, back to being doused down with the hosepipe to cool off!

Random observations:

Green Bazaar seems to be under new ownership with a minor internal revamp.

New floor in Ambonne is underwhelming but may not be fully finished.

Something being built in Heliopolis between Ghymnos and Glamour, not clear exactly what yet.

On a different note we were charged €15 for a small brandy in Pilouterie this evening, in anyman's language that's a rip off. Screw the customer alive and well in good old Cap.

Quick update on Pizza Flora. They have built a new bar area to the left of the entrance. As that removes 3 tables from recollection, they just lost about 12 covers, multiplied by how many sittings can be crammed in. Can’t comment on menu as they have removed all menu boards during the day. Don’t forget to take cash. Last time I looked the bank that used to be next door have closed up the cash machine. The Trip Advisor entry claims they take cards. We don’t believe this is correct.

But the good news is that Le Croq on the campsite still have 50cl of beer for €4.00. They do take cards, and the food range has been increased. Few teething problems with service, but will hopefully improve.

Just been watching a feature from Portsmouth about a new takeaway Pizza Machine. Old news. If you turn right at the roundabout from Cap D’Agde/Béziers Airport, and go to the pot sellers, there has been one of these machines there since at least March this year. Further news on Pizza sellers in Le Village forth coming, along with that French staple, Frogs Legs.

By the way, if you’re coming here, bring your own mustard. The shelves are barren.

This is a guess, but the Sports Bar next to Pilouterie/ Palmerie seems a good chance. Will have a look on next walk and update you. I have to warn you, you stand about the same chance of finding a Vegetarian Restaurant here.

No problem getting ‘sans alcool’ beers/pastis in the supermarkets, alcoholism is a particular problem in France so would imagine that if you ask for ‘Bière sans alcool’ many bars would be able to serve you.

As mentioned in another reply, vegetarian dishes are rare in French restaurants although I have noticed a few Cap restaurants that offer one vegetarian plate on their menu

Earlier this year, as an experiment, I went Vegan for 3 months. As part of a group meal from our Gym (Natureva Spa) we went to Joys restaurant who said that they would serve a vegan dish.

My dish turned out to be, one mushroom, a spoon full of French beans, lettuce and chips!

Well we have found that most places have an alcohol free beer if you ask (except waiki beach) and the supermarket had a choice of about 6 different ones.

It does seem quiet here though compared to 2019. We’ve been to the sauna twice and each time there have been less than 10 couples and about half a dozen men in the singles section. Last time we were here it was packed every day. Obviously the financial downturn is taking its toll everywhere and people are being more choosy about where they spend their money.

Yes, we've used the Grocery store. Great for water etc, saves lugging it all the way from town. Prices similar to supermarkets in town too. Not much choice with their stock at the moment, but hoping it will improve in time as they get more experienced and learn what people want.

Haven't tried the new bar yet, but looked quite busy as we walked past in the evening. Noticed that they had entertainment on too. We will give it try when we're back again next week.

Time for an update on the area around the entrance to the campsite. Boris and Arnaud van was there last year and do burgers, salads, fried chicken and drinks. The Sushi Bar next to that has been closed. The Pizza Van next to that, which was called Spezia has been taken in house by Oltra. It now only does 10 pizzas, none of which is a Pepperoni. Next to that is the new bar and restaurant called Le Troquet de René. It replaces the fruit and veg shop.It is table service, and does Pizzas and Ice Creams along with drinks. The cheapest 50cl of beer is €5 as opposed to €4 at the Croq. However having tasted our first pint, it is a far superior ale. The staff have a new POS System, and it’s taking a bit of time to bed in. The pizzas come from next door, now called La Pizziera du Camping. You can either eat there from a plate, or take away.Shellfish place is still there, and the new grocery store does as stated water, but also basic groceries, a very limited range of fruit and veg, some cheese, sun tan oil, bread. Also does spirits and beer. Now called Le Comptoire Naturiste. Variable opening hours, but shut on Sunday Afternoons.
