I’m starting early! The tubular structure at the entrance to the village, covered in vines has been removed. And Gymnos is ahead of the curve announcing its reopening on 9th March 2023.

It will be interesting to see what changes are made for 2023.

With the two Covid summers well behind us, hopefully people will have more confidence to return in 2023.

This summer was certainly an improvement as regards numbers, so businesses will be looking to capitalise, having had a couple of years to ponder on how to spice things up.

Fingers crossed...

I just got back. I was amazed to see no trace of Parahlia except it dumped in bits in the campsite. It's amazing to how a few wooden huts makes an amazing beach bar. Although I think it has lost its way over the last few years. Used to have a better vibe. The dunes have a different sign. No fine but instant verbal? Mississippi was just some decking

The beach bars are always taken apart for the winter. They will be reassembled in April. Similarly Mississippi top deck gets stored in the bar area beneath. They used to have to remove the entire decking, but the new board walk has meant the decking can stay. No change.

The Contract for next year on the campsite has arrived today. It has gone up, but only from €4059 to €4149. Not as bad as thought.

Considering that includes electricity and water for the season I would say that is very fair! Looks like RO are trying to do more online, I have just received my contract for 2023 which I can sign electronically.

Bad Maths on my part. It’s actually €4221.

Booking for the campsite opened today. They have redesigned the website, but it lacks a map. The importance of this is Rene Oltra have slapped a surcharge on how close to the beach you are. The most expensive are Plage and Mer, with a lesser mark up for Nature and Dune. The rest of the campsite has the cheapest rate.

We have been saying for years that this would happen, surprised it has taken so long.

Have you checked you spam folder ? In 2022 the ack. came to the main email folder, but for some reason the confirmation with pitch number went to a spam folder.

We have not had confirmation of pitch number and booking yet. Can't check spam folder as mine only stores messages for a short while and we have been on a cruise with no internet. I'm pretty sure that they have taken the deposit from my card but will have to check.

Bit of a change to the group of agency offices that were on the right of the road as you entered. They have been closed, and a new building has been constructed on the left hand side to house all the agencies. This means that you can’t use the new offices to cut through and avoid paying the fee. Bugger!

I remember seeing a plan many years ago that had the agency offices being demolished and luxury apartments being built. This looks like the plan as the roadway is now round the back of the chemists to avoid the demolition.

We’ve seen plans on another site for a very high end hotel with rooftop infinity pool, takes up the whole area including the car park section through the gate

Yes, it's being marketed as the Vibes Resort, a 5-star development of 124 apartments, commercial units and a roof top pool etc. It was first proposed about 12 years ago but the promoters appear to have had difficulty attracting the necessary investment. They also need to acquire the land from the local municipality and over the years the councillors have questioned the viability of the project. The land has not yet been transferred and looks like it may not happen until 2025. The apartments are now being marketed though with figures of between 280k and over a million and if the entrance is now being modified then maybe it will happen after all.

On a related note it looks like those derelict half finished apartments near the roundabout on the way in will finally be demolished and a new block built by a new owner.

We haven't visited Cap since last summer, so we'll be interested to see the new developments at the entrance.

There's no real space inside the village for more accommodation so we can see why the new plans are so attractive to developers. But if there's no new car park it will squeeze things even more in July and August..!

That’s the one yes, it was a buy to let development managed by the hotel, essentially owner funded but at those prices 2025 may be optimistic, as long as it doesn’t end up as part finished eyesore covered in graffiti and barriered off for years…. As if that would happen

One of our friends who rents out a number of apartments in Port Nature looked at this proposed development with a view to purchase.

What put him off was that the developers only allow apartments in this block to be rented out through their own agency thus taking a hefty commission.

Think this policy will put off serious investors and we could be looking at an empty building lot for years to come.
