Cap d'Agde Guide

Jump to: Newest in thread

West Bromwich

It used to be France's best kept secret, but now the word is out....so let’s tell you all about it.

Cap d'Agde is the world’s most hedonistic town, we’ll just call it Cap from now on. Situated in France, on the Mediterranean sea, about 100 miles from the border between Spain and France, it is the sea port and beaches to the old town of Agde in the Languedoc region of Southern France. This is not a hotel, or a small resort, or a beach….it’s a town! The typical holiday season runs from May to September, with apartment owners doing decorating, and hardened naturists doing trips outside these dates.

You can drive through France, normally takes around 14 hours from Calais door to door, so a relief driver, or overnight stop is recommended. You can take longer ferries, say from Portsmouth to Bilbao, Northern Spain which takes a day/night and gives you a good break, leaving a 5 hour drive at the other end. You can train down from Paris easily, direct into Agde which is then 20 mins taxi ride into Cap. Or you can fly from numerous airports around the UK, into Montpellier (1 hour transfer), Carcassonne (45 mins transfer) Perpignan (1 hours transfer) or the closest Bezier (15 mins transfer). There are plenty of English ex-pats living in and around Cap that offer taxi service to and from, just make sure you get a licenced, and thereby an insured operator!

One quarter of the town is separated from the rest by a massive fence with barrier controls to gain access. This quarter is naturist and has been for the last 50 or so years. You can obtain a pass at a front office, for which you’ll need full ID, passport, driving licence, and often they ask for a membership card to a naturist organisation if visiting as a single male. You’ll need to arrive before 8pm as the office is then closed. The area does have a problem with local lads trying to get in later in the evening which they slowly seem to be getting on top of.

Once inside the barrier, you will find nearly everyone is naked. Within minutes it will feel totally normal, trust me, it’s very difficult to walk around with a constant hard on, so forget that myth, you’ll feel totally at home. It worried about your body, don’t be. You will see everything here, big, small, scars, fat, thin, post operation, disabilities, transsexuals, infact it’s almost like everyday life without clothes…what a surprise! No one cares here. Many have been coming for years, why should they change their lifestyle just because of an operation, or accident. People love Cap because there is no discrimination. Having no clothes on brings us all down to the same starting level, and we all accept each other.

The quarter is exactly that, it’s a quarter of a town, with roads, shops, a port, thousands of apartments, hotels, pubs, restaurants and clubs, a beach, campsite, park area, even a protected nature area. A busy day in the summer, expect 22,000 people to be present. You need to note, this is a naturist resort. You will see folks in their 90’s, and families with babies in arms. Kids running around on the beach, so be very careful about what you do and where you do it! Also be aware that many locals live and work here, it’s their life, and they may not be naturists, so will be dressed. Shop owners, bar staff, cleaners, bin men, delivery guys, etc. will all be clothed normally. It’s the tourists who strip. Once in the resort the normal dress code walking around is flip flops or sandals as footwear (yep, they have cats and dogs roaming so you need something on your feet) and a sarong around the waist, or naked. The sarong is used in all bars and restaurants, no one wants to sit on a seat that has just been sat on by a naked person, so everyone uses a sarong or towel to sit on where ever they go.

The town has a number of very distinct areas or building complexes. The first one, and most obvious to mention is Heliopolis, a massive horseshoe of 5 floors of apartments, sea facing and at the heart of the quarter. Shops, bars and restaurants can all be found, best examples are the Green Bazaar that sells almost everything you’ll need for the beach, the Spar for most foods, 1664 bar for the open air evening drinks and people watching experience, and a resort favourite Gymnos restaurant for a quick snack through to the perfect steak, fast furious, and superb food. In the middle of Heliopolis you now have the lovely Jardin d’Eden hotel complex, alongside the famous Glamour swingers nightclub. (You’ll find numerous swingers clubs around the resort, plus one BDSM club).

In-between Heliopolis and the Port, is Port Ambone, another circular complex of apartments, with shops, bars and a couple of clubs. Again, good food shopping, clothing stores a plenty, and everything from a quick pizza café to port side dining experiences.

From there you have Port Nature, a massive T shaped complex of apartments leading right down to the beach. It starts with the famous Melrose bar, a must stop experience for hedonistic couples late evening. Moving on you’ll find restaurant after restaurant, serving everything from Sushi to superb steaks, crepe bars to cocktail bars. The main destination for folks during the evening time, and the centre for what everyone calls the “parade”, the nightly show of costumes and erotic lingerie, as everyone wanders around town in their finest! (yep, you do get dressed up in the evenings, dress to kill, we take more clothes to Cap that any other holiday, as every night you’ll want to look spectacular!) At the beach end of Port Nature you have another complex of shops and bars. The favourite with the English has recently changed hands, so Johnny Wokkers pub, is still there but now in French ownership following the retirement of Johnny and Jen after many years. Pizza bar, Snackies, and a few basic shops underneath, and then lovely restaurants up top. Try the popular Le Mississippi restaurant, or relax with a cocktail on the balcony at L’Horizon. All have superb sea views, and if lucky enough you’re in the perfect spot for the monthly fireworks on the beach, and evening sunsets.

There is also Port Soleil, on the far side of the port itself, quieter, without any real clubs, and only a few restaurants, it’s ideal for the more laid back break, although apartments can be a lot smaller than elsewhere.

Cap has a massive campsite. You’ll need to book, it does get very busy and is often sold out, so be prepared. Caters for everything from 1 man tents to juggernaut size campers. You’ll see some with a tent and a bike, others with Jacuzzi’s in their awnings! The site is run by a company called Rene Oltra and you need to book with them in advance. Wristbands are given out and security ensures only campers get in and out of the site itself. If meeting friends from inside camping, you’ll need them to come to the gates to collect you. Parties are frowned upon in this area as it’s very popular with families, so we’d always suggest you party elsewhere. There are plenty of toilet blocks throughout the area, with lovely facilities in most of them. Power points at every pitch, and chemical disposal points all around the site. A few shops near the entrance, plus other stuff such as a kiddies play zone and aerobics classes always seem to be on throughout the day.

There are also more and more hotels popping up, mainly near the entrance, or just outside the gates. These can be expensive but provide superb facilities, if looking to totally relax and enjoy the holiday. Search for Hotel Eve, Oz Inn or Natureva Spa for on-site hotels, as well as Jardin d’Eden already mentioned above.

So, a typical day at Cap, (based on life as a swinging couple) probably starts around 10am, when you wake, slip on your flip flops, and nip along to the local bakery. Couple of croissants each, a cup of killer black coffee, maybe an orange juice, and you’re ready to face the day. We also normally grab a baguette as well and make up a sandwich or two for the beach, as food is expensive around the town, but that’s a personal choice. (If staying for a week or longer, see if your taxi guy will stop at Hyper-U outside the resort on arrival, for a main shop and fill your freezer, it’s a lot cheaper than in the town itself, don’t forget the wine as well). Then it’s back to the apartment to breakfast, and sort out the kit bag for the day out.

The next bit can be weather dependant. If at all windy, you need to avoid the beach. Plenty of poolside places if you get out early enough, so look out for Waikiki in Port Nature, and one in the centre of Port Ambone. Both charge for entry or sunbed use, but are well worth it for a day out of the wind. The pool near Johnny Wokkers is now a swingers club, so be aware if you sunbathe in there, you’ll get to see some discrete action going on, on lilo’s. Also has playrooms below ground. Damn fine day out.

If fine, no wind, then head for the beach. Cap is blessed with perfect sand, and a flat, straight beach line. From the port entrance, heading East, you have over a mile of perfect naturist beach. Most is family orientated, so wander along until you see a beach bar, café, and lifeguard post on the top of the dunes. This point marks the start of what is accepted as the swingers beach. The next few hundred yards see’s hundreds of swingers, very few if any children, and a fair number of meercats!! I’ll explain that in a minute. As the swing section dies down it becomes the gay section, before eventually the beach becomes “Textile” again, or clothed, at Marsallian Plage.

Find a space for your towels. This in self becomes harder the later you leave for the beach. By 2pm you’ll be sitting on someone else’s knee almost! Towels often overlap, and walking between them during the height of the day, on burning sand, is an art in its own right! If you don’t want to be in the middle of all this, just go back down the beach a few hundred yards and you’ll find only a few folks between you and the water’s edge. You’ll find regular stall holders selling cold soft drinks, coffee, baguettes, ice creams at the water side, as well as a few sellers on the beach trying to shift sarongs, chains and necklaces, or serving coffee towel side. The water itself can be cold. The later in the year it is, the warmer the water becomes, but expect an icy edge to it in May, but lovely by August. Take a deep breath and run in, its lovely. Very clean, and although the temperature shock can be a surprise to most, within minutes you’ll probably be able to get erect if given the right company! You will find play in the water surprising easily and accepted by those around you. If you look like you’re up for fun, expect to draw in a crowd very quickly. These guys don’t muck around, a gal playing is often seen as a green light and within a minute you can have a 100 guys around you. They do observe the rules, normally, but we have seen incidents where the guys need to be told. If you don’t want this amount of attention, just stop playing and they’ll all vanish as quickly as they appeared.

Back on the beach you’ll find play going on all around you. It’s not legal, so don’t expect a full blown orgy, just gentle play occurring between couples in the open. The lifeguard station often fills with local police during the day, so do be careful. If they start to approach the area a whistle normally sounds out from everyone so play stops and the police back off, but you do need to play carefully. This is where we meet the meercats. The beach has been here for a long time, and the locals certainly know about it. Single guys are everywhere, in-between all the towels, wandering around looking for play to watch, often stopping, dropping to the sand to watch a couple at play, and will lie at your feet wanking away without a care in the world. Some real hunks, many older, if you like singles, this is the place to pull one and get to know him better before the evening. Most speak English! Expect an offer of a massage for the lady, at least to re-apply sun cream, and enjoy, no one cares here.

Around 6pm most evenings the police and lifeguards call it a day….the beach is now yours to have fun on. This is when the famous “circles” start to form. As a couple start to play, maybe alone, or with others, groups of guys, and couples will start to congregate around them very quickly. If a good show, then if you’re sitting nearby, expect your towel to be trodden into the sand very rapidly, it can be a bit of a stampede. The circles can get to 20 deep, with well over 200 folks all trying to get a peek of the action…does get a little crazy but if you have the balls to be the centre of this attention, you’ll never ever forget the experience! Once done, expect a very polite round of applause…you see, they are all gents after all. By 9pm you really need to be off the beach unless very brave. Plenty of stories of incidents after this kind of time, so be warned.

Gather up your possessions, drop off your litter at the bins please, and slowly head back to the apartment, taking in a quick drink at one of the many bars. Shower to get rid of all that salt and sand, before aperitifs on the balcony, crisps, canapés a bottle of wine shared with new friends as they wander past your frontage is the start of a good evening. Many will do balcony parties, drawing in 20 or so friends as the start of a party night, music blasting from each location giving the entire complex its own rhythm.

A liberal dose of after-sun should now be applied and allowed to soak in before, “dressing” for the evening. Now is the chance to show off that gorgeous see through dress, that lovely latex outfit, or leather strapping. Dress to kill, you can’t and won’t shock anyone, trust me they’ve seen it all before, but you stand a chance of making an impression on someone! And now, its parade time. Taking your partners arm, or even better, the arms of two or more partners, you start to wander around Cap. You walk past all the bars and restaurants, allowing everyone to take you in in your finest. Enjoy the moments, each longing look you get, catch as many eyes as you can, you never know if it may turn into more! Pick your restaurant to dine at for the evening, then pick the seat, ideally one where you can watch others drift by, and admire their efforts. Watch out for the tigers, that will be us!

Enjoy your food, enjoy the local wines, the area is superb for quality reds, take in the sights, and decide on how to spend the rest of the night. The main bar for couples opens around 10pm and is Melrose in Port Nature. Table top dancing and plenty of music is the order of the day, with singles excluded to the walkway around the pub. Expect to see the sights displayed openly, as girls gyrate above you. Then head for a club. Plenty to choose from, from the famous Glamour on the seafront, to its competitor a few hundred yards away, Tantra, or Jules below Waikiki pool, or the Hammam (sauna/Jacuzzi) in Port Ambone. All charge around 35 Euros per couple, which includes free drinks on entry. All, apart from the Hammam, discourage singles, so you’ll need to find a playmate on the beach to get into these clubs if touring solo. The fun dies out around 4am for most, at which time you can drift back to your apartment, taking pity on any of the singles who line the route home if you wish. Expect to see police and security these days around the complex. Singles are often asked to prove they are staying in the resort after dark, as locals seem to infiltrate the resort and do cause a few issues late at night. Be warned, opening your curtains and having sex in front of anyone walking by can be very erotic, but also very awkward if caught by police! You will be arrested.

A few major attractions to look out for. Glamour club opens throughout the afternoon for its superb Moose Party. This is foam, poured in from above on the dancers below. Bar blasting out classic rave music, often solo drummers or sax players. All naked and having fun in the bubbles. Also there’s the new pool parties at Babylon, a complex at the back of the resort, where around 300 couples meet during the afternoons for fun in the pool. Car rental in and around Cap is easy if done in advance, although the area is limited to vineyards and beaches unless travelling to the old Roman town of Montpellier. Also try to visit the old town of Agde itself, its lovely and the river has some superb boat restaurants. Take a bus out from the resort, (bus stop at the security gate entrance) to Cap d’Agde centre, where you’ll find hundreds of great shops and outdoor markets. Try the pleasure boat cruises, the river trip is lovely, as is the trip along the coast…you even get to perv at the naturists on the beach at one point. It’s quite a giggle watching all the tourists trying to zoom cameras in on the beach!

That’s just about it. Enjoy your holiday. 2 weeks is almost perfect, long enough to get a good tan, short enough not to get to bored. You’ll then be ready to repeat year after year. The rest of the world yawns by comparison if your main interest area is sexual. Get to learn the tricks. Find people who own apartments, and miss out the middle men when booking. Find a great taxi driver as you can always then get a lift out of town if needed. Work out which club is your favourite and see if they do regular user discounts. (You can get a year’s ticket to Glamour by attending on New Year’s Eve for example). Get to work out where to buy 5 litre jugs of wine, far cheaper than by the bottle, and most is ideal for party nights! The holiday is probably about 20% more expensive than a similar holiday outside the resort, but if you know the tricks, it can also be 20% cheaper!

Welcome to swingers paradise.

If googling, names to search for as well as all of the above are: AGN, Peng Travel, Dave and Ann Agency, Cap Nat, Resid. If you feel anything needs adding, or altering to this overview, please let me know.

Costa Blanca Spain...

Excellent.

If ever there was a thread that should made a "sticky" this is it.

The only thing you forgot (or maybe I missed) was one of our favourite haunts.

Jeux de Mains in Port Ambonne.

Our opinion- think you should also make a shout for L'Xtasia ( no link of course) which is outside the village about 15 min drive away- that is well worth a visit and has a campsite and cabins for hire and a great evening to be had with great food and great club that a lot of Cap residents make the effort to go to for a change of scenery...well with the visit whilst in Cap!

Yep, agreed although its been 20 years since we visited! Do they still do the dance acts through the meal before the club opens, and twinkly lights around the woods...was a magical night out.

Cap d’Agde, France

Superb review and just about covered everything, in fact, one or two things we didn't know and we do live in the locality.

The only thing we would recommend if going for a couple of weeks is to hire a car for a day or two just to see the surrounding area which is really beautiful.

So many of our friends have been visiting the Cap for years and have never been outside the resort.

Here in France everything is based on size - they measure everything in square metres. Cap d'Agde does not normally provide "spacious" accommodation even in hotels. The apartments range from about 16sm - 60sm. Therefore ask how large it is and that's a good starting point.

yes definitely ask the size or look at the website we booked 4th floor on Heliopolis and it was tiny with just a very small and flimsy bed /sofa.(our shed is bigger).also 72 steps up to the apartment in 33 degree heat.

we now stay in the campsite in our caravan much better and more friendly altogether.

Yep. That's about it.

You will see all kinds of outfits ranging from sexy chic to slutty.

See through with nothing underneath is a common sight, knickerless is favoured by many (probably most) and the shorter the skirt the better. Killer heels are almost compulsory but be careful on some of the walkways, they can be a bit uneven and we've seen one or two come a cropper.

Tits out or very low cut is another option .

Some go out in fetish wear and it's not unknown (although not common) for some to just carry on in the daytime outfit. Naked.

Don't worry if you haven't got anything as there are plenty of boutiques in the village.

Just a note for the guys. Most (maybe all) of the clubs won't admit guys wearing shorts so some lightweight summer trousers are a good idea.

First time for us too.. looking forward to seeing what the fuss is all about

Same here booked for 8th July port soleil

Port Soleil, good place to start, 5 mins walk to Melrose but you will get a good nights sleep."

The Sauna in Port Ambonne used to give you one with your locker key but for some reason stopped this about two years ago.

I bought the nearest that I could find in the UK which was an armband for carrying a mobile phone . It worked perfectly for me . On occasions if you were buying a drink at the bar in the Sauna the bar staff might ask you what was inside the armband if they could not see the clear side displaying the condoms . Just a simply security measure. The Sauna beside Tantra also check.

Mine cost circa £6 via Amazon. When I checked the shops in Cap d Agde I could not find what I wanted . Maybe I did not search thoroughly enough.

It is much better to be prepared . Whilst I always found condoms to be in plentifull supply in the Sauna beside Tantra the same cannot be said of Sauna Hamman in Port Ambonne .

It is not the best of experiences to be all ready for action, find you packet is empty and then have to run back to your locker in order to top up.

Luckily when it happened to me , the lady waited but there were plenty of others around her waiting to jump in.

Next time I am over which is Easter I am going to do a more thorough search of the shops there and see which one sells the arm bands . The closest that I could find was a neckband .

Hope this helps .

Have to admit though some bits put me off a bit. Been to our local naturist beach and the meerkats (or walkers for TWD fans) were very annoying.

Accommodation here in France is usually "sold" or "rented" based on size in square metres. All the area's mentioned in the village are available in various sizes. For example some in Heliopolis the higher level of the apartment the smaller it gets. It is therefore best to ask what size it is. Some are as small as 14sm - an average size living room in the UK and that will sold here as a studio. A decent size is 30sm which will give you a separate bedroom. A villa here is not what you would expect in "normal" resort. They will be around 30sm and semi-detached or part of a terrace. Most who have been before will know what to expect - but for newbies hope this helps?

The new road to the village is open and a nice surface. It will make it easier to get to the village.

One final point any tourist visiting France and renting accommodation is required by law to have public liability insurance to cover any damage to a French rental property. A minimum cover of 30,000€ is required, but you holiday insurance policy should cover this.

All the various areas are very close to each other .You will be very close to the shops and marina . As long as you staying inside the gate everything is close to hand .

In Port Ambonne Commercial centre you have Maxines restaurant, Sauna Hammam which is a sex club , Clair Oscar which is a bondage club , the Adult Cinema, and Pilourtie bar which is excellent for people watching. The bands in the evening are also quite good. You also have an ATM machine , a super market and a wine shop.

The area is very compact and you can make a fairly quick visual inspection of the type of clientele in most bars by simply walking around .

While not many younger couples are from the UK you will find quite a few French couples who are younger. Your chances of mixing with younger couples will depend on how well you speak French. If you do not speak it, it might be with going to evening classes to learn.

there are various specialist FX companies who offer good rates the minimum is £2-£3k - probably not what you want? The advertised rate you are given when you Google is the inter bank rate - you never get that. The closest is withdrawals from an ATM - providing your bank doesn't make a charge.

As the other poster has said, the most favourable rates are for high value transactions , and even then part of the savings can be lost by having to pay a transaction fee.

I now have a French bank account and a special account for transfers .

However for values below £1000 the rates offered by your local bank , Tesco, Marks and Spencer or the Post Office are probably as good as you will get. The variations between the various banks is small . The important thing is not to exchange money at an airport unless you have booked the transaction in advance.

Just booked flights to Beziers for a long weekend in Cap at the end of this month.

There appears to be a myriad of accommodation available, but is it worth being nearer the fenced off naturist part or better to be more central?

The prices seem to vary massively; by several hundred pounds, so any advice on a half decent place would be much appreciated please.

If you are only going for a long weekend you will have limited time and it may be preferable to stay inside the gate unless you want to walk for up to half an hour every time you go to the village. There is no taxi rank inside the gated area and you cannot just flag a taxi. If you go out at night are you happy to spend half an hour walking back to your accommodation at 2 am in the morning. ? If you so not drink one option might be to hire a car and drive to the Naturiste village . ? The cost of accommodation inside the village can be up to twice the cost of that outside it . It probably boils down to what premium you are prepared to pay for the convenience factor . Prior to booking check the location of your accommodation to see if it is inside or outside the gated area .

Well there is an old saying "you get what you pay for". For example in Cap on a very popular platform there are 258 offerings - hotels, campsites & apartments. A wide choice indeed, but if you want an apartment - 200 come up, if you want air con - a must when temps are 30c+ it drops to 35! If you want WiFi it drops to 15! If you want a pool - 11.

So if you read the reviews you stand a half chance of getting something decent. Watch out for an old trick - photos are 10 years old!!!

"Hi, We arrive on Wednesday, and were wondering what time the Babylon pool parties start and are they everyday? Also same question for the foam parties.

The Babylon pool parties are on Wednesdays and Fridays. We've not been for a while (we much prefer the foam and the beach) but as I remember it starts at 2:00pm.

The foam parties are every day (weather permitting) and start at 2:00 pm. However if you want to get a decent spot you will need to get in the queue at least 20 minutes beforehand.

"Thanks for the reply, what is a descent spot for the foam parties? We have never been but do people stay in the same location or move around a bit? Thanks!"

There are always a lot more people than there are beds, so if you want one you need to get in early.

Quite a few (mostly French) will pre book and get priority so just because you are at the front of the queue doesn't mean you will get in first.

The most popular beds are the ones on the right hand side as you go in and also around the central square, you can't really miss it.

You only need to take towels with you, clothing is not allowed, you even have to leave your shoes in the cloakroom. Don't take a bag, the one they give you for the cloakroom is yours to keep. You are allowed to take in a small purse but they will check it for mobile phones on entry. So unless you want to leave it in the cloakroom it's best to leave the mobile at home.

Cost is 25€ entry and 3€ for the cloakroom.

Drinks are expensive, small beer 7€ large beer 10€. If you drink wine then it is much better value to buy the bottle at 20€ than a glass 6€ (which is mostly ice).

Cap d’Agde, France

Just to repeat,

If you are in the foam party, wear sunglasses or goggles

If you do get it in your eyes, wash it out with clean water immediatley.

2 years ago I got foam in my eyes, didn't wash it out then.

This led to severe conjuctivitis - 3 weeks treatment followed by Numanar Keratitis - 2 weeks treatment

Result- permanent scaring on my cornea.

Not been to the foam party since even though we can get free entry.

Cap in August.

Thought we'd update this info with our feelings on Cap in August, based on 2017. Its the height of the season, and Cap is full of Europeans, especially French on their annual shut down weeks. The accommodation area is pretty quiet during the day. This year the powers that be have updated security, ensuring everyone coming in the main barrier has a valid pass to be inside the complex. They've also upped the security around the village, especially at night, so anyone just wandering the streets or walkways will be challenged, and has to prove they are resident to ensure they don't get escorted off the site. You need to carry your pass around, especially at night, and especially if a single male. They appear to have stopped guys swimming across the harbour entrance to get in, none witnessed so far this year, and also added security guys at the other end of the beach.

However, this is where the problems start. The security team, of two guys, stand underneath the naturist signs on the main beach from around 2pm each afternoon and have gone by 5pm. The singles walking in from that end just avoid those times, or come in through the Nature Reserve behind the dunes. This year, hundreds of a/ older guys in there 70's plus, wiggling their todgers around at anything that dared look in their direction, and b/ younger guys, looking and acting like they owned the beach, full on stonkers, and feeling free to touch anything that passed them without comment. All the old reserve, and etiquette has gone, a circle now doesn't mean a good towels width away from the players, asking to join in, being sensible without pushing and shoving the guy next door. Its hell. One single act from any gal with someone other than their partner seemed to result in around 60 plus guys trying desperately to shove their cocks in her mouth, finger her through gaps in legs around the circle, and stand on anyone else's sunbathing spot without a care. I'm not pissed off because its happened to us, it hasn't yet, but hell, these guys are becoming absolute morons!! Only one thought, to get their end away at any cost. Interestingly we haven't seen too much of the police at the security point to date....maybe its time they made an appearance again. Subtle hidden play throughout the day was always more appealing than the wanna be porn stars showing off their talents to absolute idiots.

We also noticed a massive increase in phone usage on the beach, and even when I pointed out a guy who was blatantly filming a couple, from behind his rucksack, the couple, and others around just shrugged shoulders and carried on. It appears to be common place now to be filmed, with or without your permission, so semi expect to emerge on the porn web sites.....search Cap d'Agde now on Google Video search and you'll get the idea. Please let me know if you see us!!

Clubs are also feeling this change in behaviour, although I feel they don't really care about it. We've attended two in the last week, both well know top clubs. The first one was for the afternoon foam party, bit obvious where I know, but at 25 Euro's in, plus crazy drink prices, a bed/seat costing backhanders to the staff of over 100 Euro's each, that's one hell of a turnover for 4 hours of bubbles! The action here was furious, full on bonking from the second you arrive all around you, and a great atmosphere, but very fast profit orientated. Guessing many don't go to too many of these whilst on holiday, so they have to go for it, and with a shortening season every year, the time available to make this kind of money is restricted....however! The other club allowed in the singles at night. Here we go again. Walk past and touch me please....pretty sure the T shirt said that....NOT. Start to play and its all over, guys at every limb, trying desperately to shove a hand or cock somewhere. Didn't witness a single chat up conversation all evening. As we left, around 2am, the queue outside to get in matched the queue inside to get out, that's one hell of a turnaround of single visits. Won't be back in a hurry.

The French have always had an ability to read a new European law, and then ignore it totally. Maybe its the English who interpret every possible variation to it and decide to play safe on every point, but our difference on so many things is amazing. Take the smoking law. Here in the UK we obey the ban in internal areas totally. The French, as and when it suits them. Smoking in the clubs was fine, because the roof was open....when it rained, and the roof closed, it was still ok to smoke! Our very favourite restaurant has a window from which they serve take home pizza's. Folks stand at the window, smoking, coughing, spluttering, over the plates for the salads, because that is deemed as outside, its an internal walkway, but hey, its not inside someone's business, even though all their ash was! As an additional point, that foam party is madness, pouring vast amounts of foam into a small room, with 100 people in, when the bubbles cover your heads within 10 seconds, and getting out of the way is almost impossible, has got to be asking for trouble. How they get away with it on a safety basis is beyond me....nope, not really, they are French! I really hope no one is ever pulled out from the bottom of it all, no one would ever know as no look outs or even staff foam side of the bar.

OK, so that's my little rant over for the year. All in all, still love Cap and all it means, but really felt I needed to talk about the other side of it all so you folks don't come expecting it all to be roses and fun. Somethings aren't....the above wasn't good.

hi

sorry we wont see you this year

it is exactly what we have been saying for a few years now, manners completely gone out the window. However it is our opinion that it is not just the guys its everyone. Last year we nearly sold up because of the rude inconsiderate neighbours but this year up till 2nd week july was better. We are never coming in August again

Following Xstasia's thread above, we have just looked on Xhamster and redtube and scarily seen many familiar faces on the beach from over the years being secretly filmed. So guys, keep your eyes peeled for any suspicious single men with bags, phones or sunglasses with cameras on the edges or middle. If caught, shout and shame them and if you can, chuck the b#st@£dos and their cameras in the sea!

"Cap in August.

Well I know from personal experience that thing's will be done if people caught filming or taking photos on the beach. 2 Americans were arrested recently and I acted as translator for one of our renters and was asked to help with the other. 750€ fine for ours and ordered to leave France in 2 hours and the other 12 months in jail.

"As a single guy reading the above, I really don't want to be there."
. Luckily peoples behaviour is judged at an individual level ( as opposed to that of a collective group ) . Most of the issues referred to are easily avoided . If you do not play on the beach you will avoid unwanted attention . The sand dunes are easily avoided . With clubs just ensure that they are couples only.

As with most things in life , it pays to do your research and anticipate problems before they arise .

There are plenty of opportunities to play in a more controlled environment such as the sauna clubs .

The beach is probably a perfect example of why it is necessary to charge single men a lot more than men for entrance to clubs .

If as a single you made gentle eye contact, then a polite introduction, a pleasant afternoon chatting and sharing beers etc you'd have the time of your life here. If you want to shoot your load over someone's else towel, join the morons. Just saying you don't want to be part of that indicates to us you'd prefer the first approach. Enjoy Cap

So is it actually illegal to film on the beach or to take photos as surely it's a public place, or are there local bylaws etc? If you walk in along the beach there are no signs saying photography is forbidden. I always thought it was an unwritten law amongst swingers and naturists to look after each other.

It has become a place where money is god and all else is disregarded. I feel very strongly about this as Cap D'Agde has been our holiday destination for 25 plus years and to be honest it has been ruined by this massive influx of hardened swingers and desperate guys who think they are on a promise. It used to be more funand that is the opinion of everyone we talk to who has been coming for more than the last few years. Its predominately a naturist site and is being ruined

Curious as to how much of a say you have, as owners of accommodation on site, over the direction of the quarter? Do you get a say, allowed to voice your opinions, etc? What is needed to get planning permission to build yet another swing club on site? Are the guys allowed to just walk along the beach or has a fence ever been considered, etc. We get a holiday every year, but you must get ongoing correspondence about things surely? Is there no way your opinions can't be voiced to people that actually matter and have the authority to change things? Missing you both by the way...but now know why! lol

Well we dont get to vote for the mayor who seems to call all of the shots.

We get a say in our apartment block Co Pro but generally we dont get any input although the Naturist Union does have a say but no authority as such.

On the other hand being a lazy so and and haven't learnt French I could be wrong.

We avoid the place from mid July until the early September as its too busy and the apartment earns its keep during that period.

Having grown fed up with the wankers in the Bay of Pigs we dont tend to trot up there anymore.

We dont find the prices compare badly with other tourist resorts in France and within the complex there are options for all budgets.

Sure the small supermarkets are not the cheapest but they are competitive when the location is taken into consideration.

Agree fully about the attitude to smoking but then so many of our Euro friends sadly haven't yet kicked the .

Food hygiene indicators are supposed to be obligatory now but I dont think Ive seen one yet in or out of the complex.

All in all though we love it and cant wait to return in a couple of weeks and will be celebrating our wedding with our Horizontal and Vertical Cap buddies.

One of the biggest clues as to whether or not they are just there for the swinging is wearing clothes .its not predominately a naturist site it IS a naturist site but now just half the people are naked ( Naked is NOT wearing a Sarrong !).

lots of people who are there just for the swinging will not get naked so if people do get naked maybe the balance might change.

Twenty years ago it was more naturist than swinging. It was rare to see anyone on the beach wearing clothes these days it's the norm to wear something. Over the years we have noticed the gradual change to more swinging than naturist. The pure naturists are tending to go elsewhere

Agde, France

We walked from the entrance to Oltra, around Heliopolis to the marina and sat down for a rosé.

Not exactly a scientific poll, but we counted 70 women and only 5 were naked.

It was only 10am and hot enough to strip off, but not _oo hot to cover up from the sun.

It's certainly become a clothes optional resort.

I've been going there since the late 70's so have seen quite a change in attitude.

I would think that the most important influence in how the village is organised are the opinions of local business and home owners . These are the people who would suffer if the wrong decisions were made as tourists would simply choose to visit alternative resorts .

To date there is no evidence that anyone has priced themselves out of the market . If this were the case there would be lots of empty rental properties and businesses closing .

On a price comparison basis , entry to the Sauna in Montpelier is more expensive than that in the village .

Both business and local residents are to be admired for building up a unique atmosphere and capitalising on it .

I cannot see how it makes any difference whether you choose to be naked or clothed . The option remains to be naked if you choose to do so . The more important issue is that the clothes which you choose to wear are appropiate for the atmosphere .

Our post was in response to people talking about how it has changed over the years.

It's still marketed as a naturist resort, but it is becoming more 'clothes optional' ....

As long as businesses are happy and the property owners get a voice, it will continue to draw visitors.

Resorts will evolve as time passes, Cap is no different.

ok so if nobody gets naked at all then the resort will have to change to a clothed resort eventually the "home owners" (don't you mean holiday home owners/investment property owners?and why should you be admired ? for owning a flat and renting it out lol

if ever there was a time to put lol its now !)

will get the same money as outside the village which is considerably less.

Do you think women would be able to walk around with their tits out and fannys on show If it was no longer a naturist resort?

Nearly all the bars are temporary tents in most cases they will be gone as fast as they came.

If it wasn't a place where we could go around naked we would never go there its dirty roads terrible and bars are shacks for a better word .

Try walking outside the gate without clothes. lol
