I have been away for fab For a few months now but I'm back. However I noticed that the most recent in my mail box is from 7 years ago however I have had messages from people in the last year that don't appear can anyone explain what has happened?

It's strange because it would be nice to have seen what people had sent me when I was off the site.

On fabguys, and so I assume the same for this site, unread messages automatically get deleted after a few weeks of being sent. Also message threads that are not active gets deleted after a round 2 months unless they have been saved

To be honest I don't know, if I look back through my messages they go back 2 month and then jump to 2 years, maybe there was some update to the messaging software or something similar a few yrs ago.

Maybe a mod can answer?

From my own experience , unread messages get deleted after a month or so .

Read messaged don’t unless the sender has left the site

We have wondered on this.. Understand that if the other party leave fab their verification and messages disappear, unread will over time.

Do they also if the other party deletes the conversation their end? We have some where only one side of the conversation has gone..
