How to tell if a message has been sent

I messaged someone in here today but the message doesn’t appear in my sent nix are anywhere else i was wondering how to tell if the message has actually been sent? Or does the person have to open it first? Don’t want to send them the message again and come off as pushy

It should appear right away, is the person you messaged still onsite?

Yeah it said they were last on 7hrs a go and i can see their profile
