Photos delete after 24hrs from messages?

When sending direct message and attaching a face pic they disappear after 24hrs. Is there a way to stop this happening when you send as it’s sometimes hard to remember faces? I understand there’s a setting somewhere you can turn off when sending the picture but I can’t seem to find it? Thanks

There’s a box to tick when sending a message that photos are removed once the message is read.

Is that it?

There's an 'auto remove' box under the text box when you tap to add a photo or video. Make sure that isn't ticked.

When you click "Add a direct private photo" and add a photo from your phone gallery they do indeed delete after 24 hours. If you add a photo from your Fab private gallery or friends only gallery, as long as you don't tick the auto remove box the photo will stay in the message.
