Hi Admins, Just wondering if you could shed some light on something for us. All of a sudden, some of our photos are being rejected for having our own watermark on them. We’re a little confused as to why this has started happening now.
The watermark matches the name of our profile, so it isn’t intended as advertising or promotion. It’s mainly an extra layer of security for our photos, as well as making things easier for us when we batch-export our images with watermarks.
We’ve been posting on FAB for years without any issues, so we were just curious if there has been a recent change to the rules or moderation process regarding watermarked photos.
We also noticed something a little odd when uploading today: about half of our photos were rejected while the other half were accepted, even though all of them had watermarks. So we’re not really sure what is triggering the rejections, as there doesn’t seem to be any consistency.
We’d really appreciate it if you could let us know what’s changed or what we should be doing differently going forward. Thanks so much for any help!

Not sure if this has changed recently but if you click on photo rules you can see that watermarks are against rules.
"No watermarks. Photo can't be watermarked. If your photo is watermarked either by this site or another site, it will be rejected. We can only accept original photos."
Personally I wouldn't describe having your name at the corner as a watermark but others may see if differently. Watermark for me is something that is across the whole picture and embedded more. Obviously having your name in the bottom right doesn't help much with security as easy to crop off.
Regarding why some pictures accepted and some rejected perhaps differences moderators saw them and interpreted things differently? Or perhaps rejection nothing to do with watermark? (eg including others that were identifiable?) |
