Hiya,

haven't been on the site for a few months, just come online and seem to be loads of my old messages missing?? None at all in my inbox. There were loads there last time I logged in! Only really bothered because I often use them to keep track of people I am talking to etc.

Any ideas?

thanks

The system does automatically clear up messages regularly, particularly if you don't login for a long period of time.

The only way to guarantee a message will be kept is to save it to your saved folder (if you're a site supporter); it'll then be excluded from any cleanups.

We have to do this because there are over 300,000 mails sent each day and millions on the system in total and if we didn't clean mails out of "abandoned" accounts it would be very costly for us.

PS. we'd advise you to change your password just incase there's been foul play.

1. As many as you like.

2. You can delete it from your inbox it still stays in your saved folder (you can only save inbox messages not sent).
